<p>Many of the machineries, vehicles, and other modern equipment brought to Nepal from Japan have now become defunct. &nbsp;&nbsp;Those equipment and machineries are now piled up in the junkyard of the company.</p>

<p>There are around five dozen expensive vehicles on the company premises, which are unused since a very long time.&nbsp; Scraps which are worth in Rs 3 to 20 million can be re-used again after repairing.</p>

<p>According to Mahesh Kafle, acting general manager of the industry, scraps are piled up in the junkyard as the industry is waiting for the government&rsquo;s permission for auction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is very hard to get materials for repairing the old equipment. Scraps worth Rs 40 million are in the junkyard of the industry,&rdquo; he informed.</p>

<p>There is very less information about how many vehicles were brought to Nepal from the help of Japanese government.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Industrialists of Birgunj are facing many difficulties in trading commodities between the two countries, Om Prakash Sharma, president of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), said.</p>

<p>The vehicular moment was banned by the government for 72 hours during the local level polls for Province 2 on September 18. Likewise, the vehicular moment was also halted during Dashain, which has created big queue of cargo trucks in the border.</p>

<p>BCCI has been requesting Birgunj Customs Office, the local police and other authorities to solve the problem at the earliest. According to Madhav Rajpal, secretary at the BCCI, the cargo trucks are in huge number between Raxual yard of Indian Railways and the highway in Nepal. &ldquo;The cargo trucks carrying raw materials and other commodities are stuck in the Indian side,&rdquo; Rajpal said.</p>

<p>According to the traders, they are forced to pay huge amount fine as they have been unable to clear the goods on time.&nbsp; &ldquo;Domestic traders are hit hard by the obstruction in the vehicular moment. We have requested the concerned authorities to solve the problem at the earliest,&rdquo; President Sharma said.</p>

<p>There is a 35-kilometer long queue of cargo trucks in between Raxual to Sugauli. There are around 3,500 cargo trucks in the queue, which have been carrying different commodities to Nepal from India and from other countries via the Indian land.<a name="_GoBack"></a></p>

<p>The demand for Nepali handicrafts is high in the international market. Handicrafts worth Rs 4.76 billion were exported in the fiscal year 2015/16. In the last fiscal year, Nepal had exported handicrafts worth Rs 5.39 billion in the last fiscal year, a rise of 13 percent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rishi Raj Subedi, deputy director at FHAN, said that the situation of export of handicrafts has seen progress in the last fiscal year in comparison to previous years. &ldquo;The demand of new types of handicrafts like felt crafts, Allo products, metal crafts and crafts from glasses has increased. &nbsp;The export is taking place accordingly,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;On contrary, the demand for old types of handicrafts like pashmina, silk products, silver products and leather products has gone down.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Twenty five types of handicrafts are exported from Nepal to 60 countries including the United States of America, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and the Gulf countries. The main market of Nepali handicrafts is the USA, which buys 30 percent of the annual export from Nepal, according to the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI).</p>

<p>FHAN Deputy Director Subedi stated that the development and promotion of handicrafts has become challenging. He said poor competition in the market, lack of raw materials and maximum usage of machineries have contributed in failure of maintain the unique identity of the handicraft business resulting in problems in the export.</p>

<p>FHAN accused the government of failing to prioritize the handicraft sector. Traders say that they are facing problems as the government has not allocated budget for this sector.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We receive limited budget which is not sufficient to organizing fairs for promotion. The government provides such budget under the Cottage and Small-Scale &nbsp;Industries,&rdquo; Subedi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Traders say that they get only 2 percent incentives in export, that too through a complicated process.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Malla is the father of Sayap Ashok Bahadur Malla and father-in-law of Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan. Malla was born on BS 1991, Jestha 29.</p>

<p>Tourism entrepreneurs said that more than 400 hotels are operating in Pokhara at the moment and the number of internal as well as external tourists has increased since the onset of Dashain festival. Govinda Sharma, a tourism entrepreneur, said that more people visit Pokhara during the Dashain and Tihar vacation. According to Sharma, the trend of visiting new places among Nepalis is being gradually developed. The crowd has grown bigger in Pokhara also because of people visiting Mustang, a new destination of internal tourists, according to Sharma. &ldquo;Students have a long vacation during Dashain and Tihar which is appropriate for traveling. As a result, the number has grown in the recent days,&rdquo; Sharma told New Business Age. &ldquo;The influx of tourists has added enthusiasm among tourism entrepreneurs.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Bharat Raj Parajuli, vice president of Pokhara Tourism Council and president Western Region Hotel Association, said that the number of tourists has surged since the beginning of Dashain festival. According to him, the tourism industry has been seeing less flow of foreign tourists while the continuous influx of internal tourists has covered up the loss.</p>

<p>Parajuli informed that the hotels in Pokhara have 70 percent pre-booking during the peak tourism season of October. <p>The flood, which destroyed wealth worth millions, had rendered hundreds of people homeless. According to the Insurance Board (IB), a total of 662 flood victims have claimed insurance worth around Rs 2 billion. Of the total claims, insurance companies have distributed insurance payment worth Rs 35.8 million to 23 victims.</p>

<p>According to the IB, insurance companies have started distributing the payment after preliminary investigation on the claims worth around Rs 2.2 billion. According to Raju Raman Poudel, executive director of the IB, the claims made by the flood victims is more than that of the earthquake victims.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The companies have also distributed the claims faster than earlier. The insurance should be made mandatory so that the victims get relief after being hit by the natural calamities,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The insurance companies have distributed the payment after investigating the damages by sending its surveyor to the site. A total of 17 insurance companies had sent the data of damages to the IB by the end of September. As per the data, a total of 303 people have claimed insurance worth Rs 1.31 billion with Agni Insurance. Of the claim, Agni Insurance has distributed around Rs 330 million to 18 flood victims. Likewise, Motor Insurance has received a total of 129 claims, of which it has distributed Rs 161,000 to four flood victims.</p>

<p>Of all the insurance companies, Samudrik Insurance has received the lowest number of claims from 374 victims. Of the total claims, Samudrik Insurance has distributed payment of Rs 2 million to only a single victim.</p>

<p>Similarly, insurance companies have received crop and livestock insurance claims from 77 flood victims. Of the total crop and livestock insurance claims, 28 are for crops and 49 are for livestock. The insurance companies are yet to distribute claims it has received for the damage of crop and livestock.&nbsp;</p>

According to Madhav Rajpal, secretary at the BCCI, the cargo trucks are in huge number between Raxual yard of Indian Railways and the highway in Nepal. &ldquo;The cargo trucks carrying raw materials and other commodities are stuck in the Indian side,&rdquo; Rajpal said.</p>

<p>According to the traders, they are forced to pay huge amount fine as they have been unable to clear the goods on time.&nbsp; &ldquo;Domestic traders are hit hard by the obstruction in the vehicular moment. We have requested the concerned authorities to solve the problem at the earliest,&rdquo; President Sharma said.</p>

<p>There is a 35-kilometer long queue of cargo trucks in between Raxual to Sugauli. There are around 3,500 cargo trucks in the queue, which have been carrying different commodities to Nepal from India and from other countries via the Indian land.<a name="_GoBack"></a></p>

<p>Rishi Raj Subedi, deputy director at FHAN, said that the situation of export of handicrafts has seen progress in the last fiscal year in comparison to previous years. &ldquo;The demand of new types of handicrafts like felt crafts, Allo products, metal crafts and crafts from glasses has increased. &nbsp;The export is taking place accordingly,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;On contrary, the demand for old types of handicrafts like pashmina, silk products, silver products and leather products has gone down.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Twenty five types of handicrafts are exported from Nepal to 60 countries including the United States of America, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and the Gulf countries. The main market of Nepali handicrafts is the USA, which buys 30 percent of the annual export from Nepal, according to the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI).</p>

<p>FHAN Deputy Director Subedi stated that the development and promotion of handicrafts has become challenging. He said poor competition in the market, lack of raw materials and maximum usage of machineries have contributed in failure of maintain the unique identity of the handicraft business resulting in problems in the export.</p>

<p>FHAN accused the government of failing to prioritize the handicraft sector. Traders say that they are facing problems as the government has not allocated budget for this sector.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We receive limited budget which is not sufficient to organizing fairs for promotion. The government provides such budget under the Cottage and Small-Scale &nbsp;Industries,&rdquo; Subedi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>The district sees transactions worth Rs 3 million per month through e-Sewa, informed Roshan Shreshtha, one of the operators of the service.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The locals have become attracted to e-Sewa. We have customers in towns as well as villages,&rdquo; said Shrestha, who provides online payment service through Roshan Mobile and Gift House.</p>

<p>The locals have been using this service extensively for mobile recharge, payment of telephone bill, internet bill, Dishhome recharge and air ticket booking.</p>

<p>Customers of e-Sewa not only get discount in service but it also saves their time.</p>

<p>Malla is the father of Sayap Ashok Bahadur Malla and father-in-law of Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan. Malla was born on BS 1991, Jestha 29.</p>

<p>Parajuli informed that the hotels in Pokhara have 70 percent pre-booking during the peak tourism season of October. <p>The flood, which destroyed wealth worth millions, had rendered hundreds of people homeless. According to the Insurance Board (IB), a total of 662 flood victims have claimed insurance worth around Rs 2 billion. Of the total claims, insurance companies have distributed insurance payment worth Rs 35.8 million to 23 victims.</p>

<p>According to the IB, insurance companies have started distributing the payment after preliminary investigation on the claims worth around Rs 2.2 billion. According to Raju Raman Poudel, executive director of the IB, the claims made by the flood victims is more than that of the earthquake victims.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The companies have also distributed the claims faster than earlier. The insurance should be made mandatory so that the victims get relief after being hit by the natural calamities,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The insurance companies have distributed the payment after investigating the damages by sending its surveyor to the site. A total of 17 insurance companies had sent the data of damages to the IB by the end of September. As per the data, a total of 303 people have claimed insurance worth Rs 1.31 billion with Agni Insurance. Of the claim, Agni Insurance has distributed around Rs 330 million to 18 flood victims. Likewise, Motor Insurance has received a total of 129 claims, of which it has distributed Rs 161,000 to four flood victims.</p>

<p>Of all the insurance companies, Samudrik Insurance has received the lowest number of claims from 374 victims. Of the total claims, Samudrik Insurance has distributed payment of Rs 2 million to only a single victim.</p>

<p>Similarly, insurance companies have received crop and livestock insurance claims from 77 flood victims. Of the total crop and livestock insurance claims, 28 are for crops and 49 are for livestock. The insurance companies are yet to distribute claims it has received for the damage of crop and livestock.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Mahesh Kafle, acting general manager of the industry, scraps are piled up in the junkyard as the industry is waiting for the government&rsquo;s permission for auction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is very hard to get materials for repairing the old equipment. Scraps worth Rs 40 million are in the junkyard of the industry,&rdquo; he informed.</p>

<p>Industrialists of Birgunj are facing many difficulties in trading commodities between the two countries, Om Prakash Sharma, president of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), said.</p>

<p>The vehicular moment was banned by the government for 72 hours during the local level polls for Province 2 on September 18. Likewise, the vehicular moment was also halted during Dashain, which has created big queue of cargo trucks in the border.</p>

<p>BCCI has been requesting Birgunj Customs Office, the local police and other authorities to solve the problem at the earliest. According to Madhav Rajpal, secretary at the BCCI, the cargo trucks are in huge number between Raxual yard of Indian Railways and the highway in Nepal. &ldquo;The cargo trucks carrying raw materials and other commodities are stuck in the Indian side,&rdquo; Rajpal said.</p>

<p>According to the traders, they are forced to pay huge amount fine as they have been unable to clear the goods on time.&nbsp; &ldquo;Domestic traders are hit hard by the obstruction in the vehicular moment. We have requested the concerned authorities to solve the problem at the earliest,&rdquo; President Sharma said.</p>

<p>There is a 35-kilometer long queue of cargo trucks in between Raxual to Sugauli. There are around 3,500 cargo trucks in the queue, which have been carrying different commodities to Nepal from India and from other countries via the Indian land.<a name="_GoBack"></a></p>

<p>The demand for Nepali handicrafts is high in the international market. Handicrafts worth Rs 4.76 billion were exported in the fiscal year 2015/16. In the last fiscal year, Nepal had exported handicrafts worth Rs 5.39 billion in the last fiscal year, a rise of 13 percent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rishi Raj Subedi, deputy director at FHAN, said that the situation of export of handicrafts has seen progress in the last fiscal year in comparison to previous years. &ldquo;The demand of new types of handicrafts like felt crafts, Allo products, metal crafts and crafts from glasses has increased. &nbsp;The export is taking place accordingly,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;On contrary, the demand for old types of handicrafts like pashmina, silk products, silver products and leather products has gone down.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Twenty five types of handicrafts are exported from Nepal to 60 countries including the United States of America, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and the Gulf countries. The main market of Nepali handicrafts is the USA, which buys 30 percent of the annual export from Nepal, according to the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI).</p>

<p>FHAN Deputy Director Subedi stated that the development and promotion of handicrafts has become challenging. He said poor competition in the market, lack of raw materials and maximum usage of machineries have contributed in failure of maintain the unique identity of the handicraft business resulting in problems in the export.</p>

<p>FHAN accused the government of failing to prioritize the handicraft sector. Traders say that they are facing problems as the government has not allocated budget for this sector.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We receive limited budget which is not sufficient to organizing fairs for promotion. The government provides such budget under the Cottage and Small-Scale &nbsp;Industries,&rdquo; Subedi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Traders say that they get only 2 percent incentives in export, that too through a complicated process.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The flood, which destroyed wealth worth millions, had rendered hundreds of people homeless. According to the Insurance Board (IB), a total of 662 flood victims have claimed insurance worth around Rs 2 billion. Of the total claims, insurance companies have distributed insurance payment worth Rs 35.8 million to 23 victims.</p>

<p>According to the IB, insurance companies have started distributing the payment after preliminary investigation on the claims worth around Rs 2.2 billion. According to Raju Raman Poudel, executive director of the IB, the claims made by the flood victims is more than that of the earthquake victims.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The companies have also distributed the claims faster than earlier. The insurance should be made mandatory so that the victims get relief after being hit by the natural calamities,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The insurance companies have distributed the payment after investigating the damages by sending its surveyor to the site. A total of 17 insurance companies had sent the data of damages to the IB by the end of September. As per the data, a total of 303 people have claimed insurance worth Rs 1.31 billion with Agni Insurance. Of the claim, Agni Insurance has distributed around Rs 330 million to 18 flood victims. Likewise, Motor Insurance has received a total of 129 claims, of which it has distributed Rs 161,000 to four flood victims.</p>

<p>Of all the insurance companies, Samudrik Insurance has received the lowest number of claims from 374 victims. Of the total claims, Samudrik Insurance has distributed payment of Rs 2 million to only a single victim.</p>

<p>Similarly, insurance companies have received crop and livestock insurance claims from 77 flood victims. Of the total crop and livestock insurance claims, 28 are for crops and 49 are for livestock. The insurance companies are yet to distribute claims it has received for the damage of crop and livestock.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are around five dozen expensive vehicles on the company premises, which are unused since a very long time.&nbsp; Scraps which are worth in Rs 3 to 20 million can be re-used again after repairing.</p>

<p>According to Mahesh Kafle, acting general manager of the industry, scraps are piled up in the junkyard as the industry is waiting for the government&rsquo;s permission for auction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is very hard to get materials for repairing the old equipment. Scraps worth Rs 40 million are in the junkyard of the industry,&rdquo; he informed.</p>

<p>There is very less information about how many vehicles were brought to Nepal from the help of Japanese government.&nbsp;</p>

According to the local industrialists and the traders, the obstruction in the vehicular moment in Birgunj-Raxual has hit the business in the region.</p>

<p>Industrialists of Birgunj are facing many difficulties in trading commodities between the two countries, Om Prakash Sharma, president of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), said.</p>

<p>The vehicular moment was banned by the government for 72 hours during the local level polls for Province 2 on September 18. Likewise, the vehicular moment was also halted during Dashain, which has created big queue of cargo trucks in the border.</p>

<p>BCCI has been requesting Birgunj Customs Office, the local police and other authorities to solve the problem at the earliest. According to Madhav Rajpal, secretary at the BCCI, the cargo trucks are in huge number between Raxual yard of Indian Railways and the highway in Nepal. &ldquo;The cargo trucks carrying raw materials and other commodities are stuck in the Indian side,&rdquo; Rajpal said.</p>

<p>According to the traders, they are forced to pay huge amount fine as they have been unable to clear the goods on time.&nbsp; &ldquo;Domestic traders are hit hard by the obstruction in the vehicular moment. We have requested the concerned authorities to solve the problem at the earliest,&rdquo; President Sharma said.</p>

<p>There is a 35-kilometer long queue of cargo trucks in between Raxual to Sugauli. There are around 3,500 cargo trucks in the queue, which have been carrying different commodities to Nepal from India and from other countries via the Indian land.<a name="_GoBack"></a></p>

<p>Rishi Raj Subedi, deputy director at FHAN, said that the situation of export of handicrafts has seen progress in the last fiscal year in comparison to previous years. &ldquo;The demand of new types of handicrafts like felt crafts, Allo products, metal crafts and crafts from glasses has increased. &nbsp;The export is taking place accordingly,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;On contrary, the demand for old types of handicrafts like pashmina, silk products, silver products and leather products has gone down.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Twenty five types of handicrafts are exported from Nepal to 60 countries including the United States of America, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and the Gulf countries. The main market of Nepali handicrafts is the USA, which buys 30 percent of the annual export from Nepal, according to the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI).</p>

<p>FHAN Deputy Director Subedi stated that the development and promotion of handicrafts has become challenging. He said poor competition in the market, lack of raw materials and maximum usage of machineries have contributed in failure of maintain the unique identity of the handicraft business resulting in problems in the export.</p>

<p>FHAN accused the government of failing to prioritize the handicraft sector. Traders say that they are facing problems as the government has not allocated budget for this sector.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We receive limited budget which is not sufficient to organizing fairs for promotion. The government provides such budget under the Cottage and Small-Scale &nbsp;Industries,&rdquo; Subedi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Traders say that they get only 2 percent incentives in export, that too through a complicated process.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The flood, which destroyed wealth worth millions, had rendered hundreds of people homeless. According to the Insurance Board (IB), a total of 662 flood victims have claimed insurance worth around Rs 2 billion. Of the total claims, insurance companies have distributed insurance payment worth Rs 35.8 million to 23 victims.</p>

<p>According to the IB, insurance companies have started distributing the payment after preliminary investigation on the claims worth around Rs 2.2 billion. According to Raju Raman Poudel, executive director of the IB, the claims made by the flood victims is more than that of the earthquake victims.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The companies have also distributed the claims faster than earlier. The insurance should be made mandatory so that the victims get relief after being hit by the natural calamities,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The insurance companies have distributed the payment after investigating the damages by sending its surveyor to the site. A total of 17 insurance companies had sent the data of damages to the IB by the end of September. As per the data, a total of 303 people have claimed insurance worth Rs 1.31 billion with Agni Insurance. Of the claim, Agni Insurance has distributed around Rs 330 million to 18 flood victims. Likewise, Motor Insurance has received a total of 129 claims, of which it has distributed Rs 161,000 to four flood victims.</p>

<p>Of all the insurance companies, Samudrik Insurance has received the lowest number of claims from 374 victims. Of the total claims, Samudrik Insurance has distributed payment of Rs 2 million to only a single victim.</p>

<p>Similarly, insurance companies have received crop and livestock insurance claims from 77 flood victims. Of the total crop and livestock insurance claims, 28 are for crops and 49 are for livestock. The insurance companies are yet to distribute claims it has received for the damage of crop and livestock.&nbsp;</p>
