<p>According to Daine, the laws have been formulated to regulate the business and prevent fraudsters from fleecing the people.</p>

<p>The bill also bans syndicate and carteling and has provision for jail terms and fine for the operators of such illegal system. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Out of the total budget, NTB said it will utilise Rs 600 million for tourism promotion while Rs 200 million will be spent on programs like protection of local heritage, manpower development, internal tourism promotion, study, research and monitoring.</p>

<p>Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of NTB, said that tourism promotion under an international tourism promotion program will be launched in different countries. NTB has allocated Rs 25 million for the continuation of the Himalayan Travel Mart which it initiated last year. He said that NTB has decided to continue the program as it was successful and people from the field of tourism have demanded its continuation. Joshi said, &ldquo;Continuation of programs like these is necessary for promotion of national tourism. Most of South Asian countries organize such marts so we have also prioritized it.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to NTB, the travel mart will be focused not only in Kathmandu but will be organized in eastern and western parts of the country as East Travel Mart and West Travel Mart respectively. Tourism entrepreneurs from cities around Nepal-India border will participate in the marts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Local tour operators and media from places close to eastern Nepal like Kolkata, Siligudi, Bhutan and Bangladesh will be invited in the mart that will be organized in an appropriate place after the selection of the location,&rdquo; Joshi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Likewise, tour operators and media from Indian cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Dehradun will be invited in the travel mart.</p>

<p>He added, &ldquo;Tourism entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to learn techniques of marketing and also local tourism will be promoted.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said programs like digital marketing, mass media campaign and dissemination of tourism related news in international media are included in the new program. NTB will sign an agreement with CNN and Lonely Planet this year for the promotion of tourism.</p>

<p>Joshi claimed that the promotion done abroad is expected to boost tourist arrival in Nepal to 1 million this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The central bank dismissed rumours that all the amount of the bank was stolen and said that there are chances of retrieving the money.</p>

<p>Rajendra Pandit, deputy spokesperson at NRB, said that the recent transactions of NIC Asia Bank with six banks of different countries were unauthorized and the subject matter is being studied.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NRB also dismissed rumours that six other banks of Nepal are facing the problem in their SWIFT system.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In course of investigation, we held consultations with heads of the information departments of all the banks and gave suggestions to them to further bolster their security,&rdquo; Pandit told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;The problem has been detected in NIC Asia only and the reasons behind it are still unconfirmed.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The NRB said it will be clear whether the SWIFT system was hacked or there was some malfunction in the system only after the investigation.</p>

<p>A team led by NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal &nbsp;consisting of deputy governors discussed the subject with SWIFT country chief for Nepal on Monday, October 23.</p>

<p>Experts downplayed the issue saying that the problem was detected only in some transactions and not in the whole system. Pandit said that the situation is not that bad as there are chances that the money transferred can be retrieved. &ldquo;This is a problem seen in the system and even if someone has hacked it, the amount will still be in the bank. So, the probability of retrieving the money is still there,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, vice president of Nepal Bankers&rsquo; Association (NBA,) asked all the bankers to be aware about such problems.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The chance of SWIFT system to be hacked is very less so someone with bad intentions must have done the deed,&rdquo; he further added, &ldquo;We have received information that the stolen money has started to be retrieved.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NIC Asia stated that though the company had suspected its transactions being hacked, the truth is yet to be unfolded. NIC Asia has requested NRB to investigate &nbsp;the transactions with six banks through Financial Information Unit (FIU).</p>

A joint bench of justices Om Prakash Mishra and Dambar Bahadur Shahi issued the stay order on Sunday, October 22 until the court gives the final verdict on the issue.</p>

<p>Shrestha had sold 20 percent of Ncell shares to Bhavana Shrestha. Shrestha claimed that he had made a profit of Rs 11.32 billion from the sale and had paid Rs 2.83 billion as tax.</p>

<p>However, the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office had said that there was discrepancy in the payment of tax by Shrestha as compared to the tax of the remaining 80 percent of Ncell shares and had demanded an additional Rs 6.15 billion as tax.</p>

<p>As per the claims made by the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office, the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office had initiated the process to collect tax from Shrestha. The office had sent a letter to Shrestha in the first week of September regarding this issue.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the letter, Shrestha filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court arguing that he had already paid his taxes and was not liable to pay anymore amount.</p>

<p>Lawyers representing Shrestha argued that the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office has been bothering their client even after he had already cleared the tax.</p>

<p>In April-May 2016, Swedish company Telia Sonera had sold 80 percent of Ncell&rsquo;s shares to Malaysian company Axiata for Rs 144 billion. At that time, the capital gains tax from 80 percent of shares of Ncell was said to be Rs 61 billion. Shrestha had also sold 20 percent of his shares at the same time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Locals of six wards of Paiyu Rural Municipality had been at the receiving end because of the unavailability of banks in their areas. &ldquo;To receive an amount of Rs 20,000, we had to spend Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 while travelling to and from Kusma,&rdquo; she told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;Now that the banks have opened in our area, it has become easier for us.&rdquo;</p>

<p>It is hard for people who have children and who work at home to travel long distance. It has become easier for home makers now.</p>

<p>Banks operating in the area have been providing services like business loan, payment of project money and salary of government officials. Huwas is known as the third largest business hub of Parbat. Local traders say it has become easier for them after the banks have started giving out loans to business entrepreneurs.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;We can now get loan for business and also save our money in banks,&rdquo; said Humnath Kafle, a local business entrepreneur.</p>

<p>According to Subash Thapa, manager of Gandaki Bank&rsquo;s, Huwas branch, 10 to 30 people come for remittance on a daily basis. He said people who used to suffer because of unavailability of banking services are happy after getting the service in their areas.</p>

<p>Khagendra Prasad Tiwari, chairman of Paiyu Rural Municipality said that the Consumers&rsquo; Committee does not have to go to the district headquarters for payment of small projects anymore.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Though there is a rule that states that there should be a bank in every rural municipality, we have three banks in our rural municipality. It has become much more convenient for us now,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of NTB, said that tourism promotion under an international tourism promotion program will be launched in different countries. NTB has allocated Rs 25 million for the continuation of the Himalayan Travel Mart which it initiated last year. He said that NTB has decided to continue the program as it was successful and people from the field of tourism have demanded its continuation. Joshi said, &ldquo;Continuation of programs like these is necessary for promotion of national tourism. Most of South Asian countries organize such marts so we have also prioritized it.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to NTB, the travel mart will be focused not only in Kathmandu but will be organized in eastern and western parts of the country as East Travel Mart and West Travel Mart respectively. Tourism entrepreneurs from cities around Nepal-India border will participate in the marts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Local tour operators and media from places close to eastern Nepal like Kolkata, Siligudi, Bhutan and Bangladesh will be invited in the mart that will be organized in an appropriate place after the selection of the location,&rdquo; Joshi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Likewise, tour operators and media from Indian cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Dehradun will be invited in the travel mart.</p>

<p>He added, &ldquo;Tourism entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to learn techniques of marketing and also local tourism will be promoted.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said programs like digital marketing, mass media campaign and dissemination of tourism related news in international media are included in the new program. NTB will sign an agreement with CNN and Lonely Planet this year for the promotion of tourism.</p>

<p>Joshi claimed that the promotion done abroad is expected to boost tourist arrival in Nepal to 1 million this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The central bank dismissed rumours that all the amount of the bank was stolen and said that there are chances of retrieving the money.</p>

<p>Rajendra Pandit, deputy spokesperson at NRB, said that the recent transactions of NIC Asia Bank with six banks of different countries were unauthorized and the subject matter is being studied.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NRB also dismissed rumours that six other banks of Nepal are facing the problem in their SWIFT system.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In course of investigation, we held consultations with heads of the information departments of all the banks and gave suggestions to them to further bolster their security,&rdquo; Pandit told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;The problem has been detected in NIC Asia only and the reasons behind it are still unconfirmed.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The NRB said it will be clear whether the SWIFT system was hacked or there was some malfunction in the system only after the investigation.</p>

<p>A team led by NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal &nbsp;consisting of deputy governors discussed the subject with SWIFT country chief for Nepal on Monday, October 23.</p>

<p>Experts downplayed the issue saying that the problem was detected only in some transactions and not in the whole system. Pandit said that the situation is not that bad as there are chances that the money transferred can be retrieved. &ldquo;This is a problem seen in the system and even if someone has hacked it, the amount will still be in the bank. So, the probability of retrieving the money is still there,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, vice president of Nepal Bankers&rsquo; Association (NBA,) asked all the bankers to be aware about such problems.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The chance of SWIFT system to be hacked is very less so someone with bad intentions must have done the deed,&rdquo; he further added, &ldquo;We have received information that the stolen money has started to be retrieved.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NIC Asia stated that though the company had suspected its transactions being hacked, the truth is yet to be unfolded. NIC Asia has requested NRB to investigate &nbsp;the transactions with six banks through Financial Information Unit (FIU).</p>

			'content' => '<p>October 24: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order against the directive of the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office to recover Rs 6.15 billion capital gains tax from Neeraj Govinda Shrestha for selling his shares of Ncell. A joint bench of justices Om Prakash Mishra and Dambar Bahadur Shahi issued the stay order on Sunday, October 22 until the court gives the final verdict on the issue.</p>

<p>Shrestha had sold 20 percent of Ncell shares to Bhavana Shrestha. Shrestha claimed that he had made a profit of Rs 11.32 billion from the sale and had paid Rs 2.83 billion as tax.</p>

<p>However, the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office had said that there was discrepancy in the payment of tax by Shrestha as compared to the tax of the remaining 80 percent of Ncell shares and had demanded an additional Rs 6.15 billion as tax.</p>

<p>As per the claims made by the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office, the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office had initiated the process to collect tax from Shrestha. The office had sent a letter to Shrestha in the first week of September regarding this issue.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the letter, Shrestha filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court arguing that he had already paid his taxes and was not liable to pay anymore amount.</p>

<p>Lawyers representing Shrestha argued that the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office has been bothering their client even after he had already cleared the tax.</p>

<p>In April-May 2016, Swedish company Telia Sonera had sold 80 percent of Ncell&rsquo;s shares to Malaysian company Axiata for Rs 144 billion. At that time, the capital gains tax from 80 percent of shares of Ncell was said to be Rs 61 billion. Shrestha had also sold 20 percent of his shares at the same time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Locals of six wards of Paiyu Rural Municipality had been at the receiving end because of the unavailability of banks in their areas. &ldquo;To receive an amount of Rs 20,000, we had to spend Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 while travelling to and from Kusma,&rdquo; she told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;Now that the banks have opened in our area, it has become easier for us.&rdquo;</p>

<p>It is hard for people who have children and who work at home to travel long distance. It has become easier for home makers now.</p>

<p>Banks operating in the area have been providing services like business loan, payment of project money and salary of government officials. Huwas is known as the third largest business hub of Parbat. Local traders say it has become easier for them after the banks have started giving out loans to business entrepreneurs.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;We can now get loan for business and also save our money in banks,&rdquo; said Humnath Kafle, a local business entrepreneur.</p>

<p>According to Subash Thapa, manager of Gandaki Bank&rsquo;s, Huwas branch, 10 to 30 people come for remittance on a daily basis. He said people who used to suffer because of unavailability of banking services are happy after getting the service in their areas.</p>

<p>Khagendra Prasad Tiwari, chairman of Paiyu Rural Municipality said that the Consumers&rsquo; Committee does not have to go to the district headquarters for payment of small projects anymore.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Though there is a rule that states that there should be a bank in every rural municipality, we have three banks in our rural municipality. It has become much more convenient for us now,&rdquo; he said.</p>

The scenic lake spread across two ropanis of land is located in Niskot VDC-9. The area lacks developmental activities in the absence of conservation and promotions programmes.</p>

<p>Situated at an altitude of 2,200 meters above the sea level, the lake offers scenic views of different Himalayan ranges. View of the world&rsquo;s seventh highest mountain, Mount Dhaulagiri, as well as other mountains like Gurja, Annapurna, Machhapuhre, Manapathi can be observed from the lake.</p>

<p>According to Chabilal Upadhayay, ward secretary of Malika VDC-1, Niskot, a budget of Rs 500,000 has been allocated in the current fiscal year for the construction of a pathway from Niskot village to Baraha Taal and for the conservation of the lake.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of NTB, said that tourism promotion under an international tourism promotion program will be launched in different countries. NTB has allocated Rs 25 million for the continuation of the Himalayan Travel Mart which it initiated last year. He said that NTB has decided to continue the program as it was successful and people from the field of tourism have demanded its continuation. Joshi said, &ldquo;Continuation of programs like these is necessary for promotion of national tourism. Most of South Asian countries organize such marts so we have also prioritized it.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to NTB, the travel mart will be focused not only in Kathmandu but will be organized in eastern and western parts of the country as East Travel Mart and West Travel Mart respectively. Tourism entrepreneurs from cities around Nepal-India border will participate in the marts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Local tour operators and media from places close to eastern Nepal like Kolkata, Siligudi, Bhutan and Bangladesh will be invited in the mart that will be organized in an appropriate place after the selection of the location,&rdquo; Joshi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Likewise, tour operators and media from Indian cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Dehradun will be invited in the travel mart.</p>

<p>He added, &ldquo;Tourism entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to learn techniques of marketing and also local tourism will be promoted.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said programs like digital marketing, mass media campaign and dissemination of tourism related news in international media are included in the new program. NTB will sign an agreement with CNN and Lonely Planet this year for the promotion of tourism.</p>

<p>Joshi claimed that the promotion done abroad is expected to boost tourist arrival in Nepal to 1 million this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The central bank dismissed rumours that all the amount of the bank was stolen and said that there are chances of retrieving the money.</p>

<p>Rajendra Pandit, deputy spokesperson at NRB, said that the recent transactions of NIC Asia Bank with six banks of different countries were unauthorized and the subject matter is being studied.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NRB also dismissed rumours that six other banks of Nepal are facing the problem in their SWIFT system.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In course of investigation, we held consultations with heads of the information departments of all the banks and gave suggestions to them to further bolster their security,&rdquo; Pandit told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;The problem has been detected in NIC Asia only and the reasons behind it are still unconfirmed.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The NRB said it will be clear whether the SWIFT system was hacked or there was some malfunction in the system only after the investigation.</p>

<p>A team led by NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal &nbsp;consisting of deputy governors discussed the subject with SWIFT country chief for Nepal on Monday, October 23.</p>

<p>Experts downplayed the issue saying that the problem was detected only in some transactions and not in the whole system. Pandit said that the situation is not that bad as there are chances that the money transferred can be retrieved. &ldquo;This is a problem seen in the system and even if someone has hacked it, the amount will still be in the bank. So, the probability of retrieving the money is still there,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, vice president of Nepal Bankers&rsquo; Association (NBA,) asked all the bankers to be aware about such problems.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The chance of SWIFT system to be hacked is very less so someone with bad intentions must have done the deed,&rdquo; he further added, &ldquo;We have received information that the stolen money has started to be retrieved.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NIC Asia stated that though the company had suspected its transactions being hacked, the truth is yet to be unfolded. NIC Asia has requested NRB to investigate &nbsp;the transactions with six banks through Financial Information Unit (FIU).</p>

A joint bench of justices Om Prakash Mishra and Dambar Bahadur Shahi issued the stay order on Sunday, October 22 until the court gives the final verdict on the issue.</p>

<p>Shrestha had sold 20 percent of Ncell shares to Bhavana Shrestha. Shrestha claimed that he had made a profit of Rs 11.32 billion from the sale and had paid Rs 2.83 billion as tax.</p>

<p>However, the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office had said that there was discrepancy in the payment of tax by Shrestha as compared to the tax of the remaining 80 percent of Ncell shares and had demanded an additional Rs 6.15 billion as tax.</p>

<p>As per the claims made by the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office, the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office had initiated the process to collect tax from Shrestha. The office had sent a letter to Shrestha in the first week of September regarding this issue.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the letter, Shrestha filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court arguing that he had already paid his taxes and was not liable to pay anymore amount.</p>

<p>Lawyers representing Shrestha argued that the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office has been bothering their client even after he had already cleared the tax.</p>

<p>In April-May 2016, Swedish company Telia Sonera had sold 80 percent of Ncell&rsquo;s shares to Malaysian company Axiata for Rs 144 billion. At that time, the capital gains tax from 80 percent of shares of Ncell was said to be Rs 61 billion. Shrestha had also sold 20 percent of his shares at the same time.&nbsp;</p>

Huwas is known as the third largest business hub of Parbat. Local traders say it has become easier for them after the banks have started giving out loans to business entrepreneurs.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;We can now get loan for business and also save our money in banks,&rdquo; said Humnath Kafle, a local business entrepreneur.</p>

<p>According to Subash Thapa, manager of Gandaki Bank&rsquo;s, Huwas branch, 10 to 30 people come for remittance on a daily basis. He said people who used to suffer because of unavailability of banking services are happy after getting the service in their areas.</p>

<p>Khagendra Prasad Tiwari, chairman of Paiyu Rural Municipality said that the Consumers&rsquo; Committee does not have to go to the district headquarters for payment of small projects anymore.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Though there is a rule that states that there should be a bank in every rural municipality, we have three banks in our rural municipality. It has become much more convenient for us now,&rdquo; he said.</p>

He said that NTB has decided to continue the program as it was successful and people from the field of tourism have demanded its continuation. Joshi said, &ldquo;Continuation of programs like these is necessary for promotion of national tourism. Most of South Asian countries organize such marts so we have also prioritized it.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to NTB, the travel mart will be focused not only in Kathmandu but will be organized in eastern and western parts of the country as East Travel Mart and West Travel Mart respectively. Tourism entrepreneurs from cities around Nepal-India border will participate in the marts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Local tour operators and media from places close to eastern Nepal like Kolkata, Siligudi, Bhutan and Bangladesh will be invited in the mart that will be organized in an appropriate place after the selection of the location,&rdquo; Joshi told New Business Age.</p>

<p>Likewise, tour operators and media from Indian cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Dehradun will be invited in the travel mart.</p>

<p>He added, &ldquo;Tourism entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to learn techniques of marketing and also local tourism will be promoted.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said programs like digital marketing, mass media campaign and dissemination of tourism related news in international media are included in the new program. NTB will sign an agreement with CNN and Lonely Planet this year for the promotion of tourism.</p>

<p>Joshi claimed that the promotion done abroad is expected to boost tourist arrival in Nepal to 1 million this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The central bank dismissed rumours that all the amount of the bank was stolen and said that there are chances of retrieving the money.</p>

<p>Rajendra Pandit, deputy spokesperson at NRB, said that the recent transactions of NIC Asia Bank with six banks of different countries were unauthorized and the subject matter is being studied.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NRB also dismissed rumours that six other banks of Nepal are facing the problem in their SWIFT system.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In course of investigation, we held consultations with heads of the information departments of all the banks and gave suggestions to them to further bolster their security,&rdquo; Pandit told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;The problem has been detected in NIC Asia only and the reasons behind it are still unconfirmed.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The NRB said it will be clear whether the SWIFT system was hacked or there was some malfunction in the system only after the investigation.</p>

<p>A team led by NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal &nbsp;consisting of deputy governors discussed the subject with SWIFT country chief for Nepal on Monday, October 23.</p>

<p>Experts downplayed the issue saying that the problem was detected only in some transactions and not in the whole system. Pandit said that the situation is not that bad as there are chances that the money transferred can be retrieved. &ldquo;This is a problem seen in the system and even if someone has hacked it, the amount will still be in the bank. So, the probability of retrieving the money is still there,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, vice president of Nepal Bankers&rsquo; Association (NBA,) asked all the bankers to be aware about such problems.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The chance of SWIFT system to be hacked is very less so someone with bad intentions must have done the deed,&rdquo; he further added, &ldquo;We have received information that the stolen money has started to be retrieved.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NIC Asia stated that though the company had suspected its transactions being hacked, the truth is yet to be unfolded. NIC Asia has requested NRB to investigate &nbsp;the transactions with six banks through Financial Information Unit (FIU).</p>

A joint bench of justices Om Prakash Mishra and Dambar Bahadur Shahi issued the stay order on Sunday, October 22 until the court gives the final verdict on the issue.</p>

<p>Shrestha had sold 20 percent of Ncell shares to Bhavana Shrestha. Shrestha claimed that he had made a profit of Rs 11.32 billion from the sale and had paid Rs 2.83 billion as tax.</p>

<p>However, the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office had said that there was discrepancy in the payment of tax by Shrestha as compared to the tax of the remaining 80 percent of Ncell shares and had demanded an additional Rs 6.15 billion as tax.</p>

<p>As per the claims made by the Auditor General&rsquo;s Office, the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office had initiated the process to collect tax from Shrestha. The office had sent a letter to Shrestha in the first week of September regarding this issue.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the letter, Shrestha filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court arguing that he had already paid his taxes and was not liable to pay anymore amount.</p>

<p>Lawyers representing Shrestha argued that the Large Taxpayers&rsquo; Office has been bothering their client even after he had already cleared the tax.</p>

<p>In April-May 2016, Swedish company Telia Sonera had sold 80 percent of Ncell&rsquo;s shares to Malaysian company Axiata for Rs 144 billion. At that time, the capital gains tax from 80 percent of shares of Ncell was said to be Rs 61 billion. Shrestha had also sold 20 percent of his shares at the same time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the establishment of banks in their areas, they do not have to go to market places to receive money sent from abroad, she said. Her husband is in foreign employment. Earlier, she had to travel to Waling for hours to receive the money sent by her husband.</p>

<p>Locals of six wards of Paiyu Rural Municipality had been at the receiving end because of the unavailability of banks in their areas. &ldquo;To receive an amount of Rs 20,000, we had to spend Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 while travelling to and from Kusma,&rdquo; she told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;Now that the banks have opened in our area, it has become easier for us.&rdquo;</p>

<p>It is hard for people who have children and who work at home to travel long distance. It has become easier for home makers now.</p>

<p>Banks operating in the area have been providing services like business loan, payment of project money and salary of government officials. Huwas is known as the third largest business hub of Parbat. Local traders say it has become easier for them after the banks have started giving out loans to business entrepreneurs.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;We can now get loan for business and also save our money in banks,&rdquo; said Humnath Kafle, a local business entrepreneur.</p>

<p>According to Subash Thapa, manager of Gandaki Bank&rsquo;s, Huwas branch, 10 to 30 people come for remittance on a daily basis. He said people who used to suffer because of unavailability of banking services are happy after getting the service in their areas.</p>

<p>Khagendra Prasad Tiwari, chairman of Paiyu Rural Municipality said that the Consumers&rsquo; Committee does not have to go to the district headquarters for payment of small projects anymore.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Though there is a rule that states that there should be a bank in every rural municipality, we have three banks in our rural municipality. It has become much more convenient for us now,&rdquo; he said.</p>

The paid-up capital is further expected to rise to Rs 8.5 billion after the bank distributes 9 percent of bonus share.</p>

<p>The bank has been providing its services through 62 branches, four extension counters and four branchless service across the country. The bank also informed that it has already initiated process to set up new branches at 21 places across the nation.</p>
