<p>After the acquisition, the paid-up capital of Baluwatar-based Shangri-La has reached Rs 1.3584 billion. The bank informed that its paid-up capital will further increase to Rs 2.4452 billion after the issuance of right shares, which has been approved by the 12<sup>th</sup> AGM of the bank.</p>

<p>Also, after the distribution of bonus shares from the profit of F/Y 2016/17, the bank will be able to meet the revised paid-up capital requirement of NRB, informed Deputy CEO Dinesh Thakali of the bank.</p>

<p>After the acquisition, the bank&rsquo;s deposit has reached Rs 12.40 billion and its loan extension to Rs 11.41 billion. The bank now owns a total of 35 branches and one extension counter.</p>

<p>The central bank has issued a new directive effective from July 16 to discourage the possibility of such malpractices.</p>

<p>The new directive has amended the existing provisions as well as annulled some provisions related to money laundering and funding terrorism.</p>

<p>NRB has said it has set new criteria for identification of customers as the current scheme of &lsquo;know your customer&rsquo; (KYC) has become obsolete in the changed context.</p>

<p>The central bank&rsquo;s move comes as an effort to stop legalizing black money through money laundering and to curb funding of terrorism in the new fiscal year.</p>

<p>NRB has warned of stern action to the banks and financial institutions which do not follow the new criteria set for identification of account holders. The central bank will first seek clarification from the BFIs not following the directive and warn them not to repeat the mistake. In the second phase, NRB can impose a fine or Rs 1 million if its instructions are not followed. The BFIs still defying the NRB directive will then be liable to pay a fine of Rs 5 million to 50 million.</p>

<p>If the BFIs are found to have aided in money laundering by opening fake accounts then the minimum fine is Rs 5 million. NRB has asked the BFIs to pay special attention when a high-profile person opens a new bank account. BFIs have also been instructed to inform the central bank if any individual deals in repeated transactions up to Rs 1 million within a day. Anyone depositing Rs 1 million or more amount have to mandatorily show the source of income, states the new directive.</p>

<p>BFIs also need to rate their customers as per the new provision. &nbsp;</p>

All 17 non-life insurance companies of Nepal have been providing micro insurance service separately. Now, they have decided to work hand-in-hand with the Microfinance Bankers Association and Nepal Insurers Association to make the program more effective. The program focuses on encouraging people of low income group to purchase insurance policy at a low premium rate.</p>

<p>Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s Executive Director Dron Acharya informed that final preparations have been completed to start the program from mid-July. According to him, the first phase of program ill include promotion of the program among people of low income group through 37 institutions associated with Microfinance Bankers Association. The service can be expanded in the second phase to other microfinance companies which are not affiliated to the association, if they show interest. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Under this program, Microfinance Bankers Association will first give training regarding micro insurance to the people involved in this program and they will then return to their respective companies and share the knowledge to the clients.</p>

<p>The non-life insurance companies along with a British aid agency, Sakcham Access to Finance, have set up a fund of Rs 80 million for the micro insurance program. The British agency has contributed Rs 40 million while the remaining amount was raised by the insurance companies of Nepal. The stakeholders have agreed to appoint Prudential Insurance Company as the manager of the fund for the first fiscal year of the programme. The fund manager will be changed every year, informed Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s vice president and Prudential Insurance&rsquo;s CEO B K Maharjan.</p>

<p>The central bank has issued a new directive effective from July 16 to discourage the possibility of such malpractices.</p>

<p>The new directive has amended the existing provisions as well as annulled some provisions related to money laundering and funding terrorism.</p>

<p>NRB has said it has set new criteria for identification of customers as the current scheme of &lsquo;know your customer&rsquo; (KYC) has become obsolete in the changed context.</p>

<p>The central bank&rsquo;s move comes as an effort to stop legalizing black money through money laundering and to curb funding of terrorism in the new fiscal year.</p>

<p>NRB has warned of stern action to the banks and financial institutions which do not follow the new criteria set for identification of account holders. The central bank will first seek clarification from the BFIs not following the directive and warn them not to repeat the mistake. In the second phase, NRB can impose a fine or Rs 1 million if its instructions are not followed. The BFIs still defying the NRB directive will then be liable to pay a fine of Rs 5 million to 50 million.</p>

<p>If the BFIs are found to have aided in money laundering by opening fake accounts then the minimum fine is Rs 5 million. NRB has asked the BFIs to pay special attention when a high-profile person opens a new bank account. BFIs have also been instructed to inform the central bank if any individual deals in repeated transactions up to Rs 1 million within a day. Anyone depositing Rs 1 million or more amount have to mandatorily show the source of income, states the new directive.</p>

<p>BFIs also need to rate their customers as per the new provision. &nbsp;</p>

All 17 non-life insurance companies of Nepal have been providing micro insurance service separately. Now, they have decided to work hand-in-hand with the Microfinance Bankers Association and Nepal Insurers Association to make the program more effective. The program focuses on encouraging people of low income group to purchase insurance policy at a low premium rate.</p>

<p>Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s Executive Director Dron Acharya informed that final preparations have been completed to start the program from mid-July. According to him, the first phase of program ill include promotion of the program among people of low income group through 37 institutions associated with Microfinance Bankers Association. The service can be expanded in the second phase to other microfinance companies which are not affiliated to the association, if they show interest. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Under this program, Microfinance Bankers Association will first give training regarding micro insurance to the people involved in this program and they will then return to their respective companies and share the knowledge to the clients.</p>

<p>The non-life insurance companies along with a British aid agency, Sakcham Access to Finance, have set up a fund of Rs 80 million for the micro insurance program. The British agency has contributed Rs 40 million while the remaining amount was raised by the insurance companies of Nepal. The stakeholders have agreed to appoint Prudential Insurance Company as the manager of the fund for the first fiscal year of the programme. The fund manager will be changed every year, informed Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s vice president and Prudential Insurance&rsquo;s CEO B K Maharjan.</p>

<p>The central bank has issued a new directive effective from July 16 to discourage the possibility of such malpractices.</p>

<p>The new directive has amended the existing provisions as well as annulled some provisions related to money laundering and funding terrorism.</p>

<p>NRB has said it has set new criteria for identification of customers as the current scheme of &lsquo;know your customer&rsquo; (KYC) has become obsolete in the changed context.</p>

<p>The central bank&rsquo;s move comes as an effort to stop legalizing black money through money laundering and to curb funding of terrorism in the new fiscal year.</p>

<p>NRB has warned of stern action to the banks and financial institutions which do not follow the new criteria set for identification of account holders. The central bank will first seek clarification from the BFIs not following the directive and warn them not to repeat the mistake. In the second phase, NRB can impose a fine or Rs 1 million if its instructions are not followed. The BFIs still defying the NRB directive will then be liable to pay a fine of Rs 5 million to 50 million.</p>

<p>If the BFIs are found to have aided in money laundering by opening fake accounts then the minimum fine is Rs 5 million. NRB has asked the BFIs to pay special attention when a high-profile person opens a new bank account. BFIs have also been instructed to inform the central bank if any individual deals in repeated transactions up to Rs 1 million within a day. Anyone depositing Rs 1 million or more amount have to mandatorily show the source of income, states the new directive.</p>

<p>BFIs also need to rate their customers as per the new provision. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The second prize was awarded to Thompson Nepal for its advertisement designing of Ncell and Prismark Advertising was named as the third winner for its advertising design of Hyundai Nepal&rsquo;s promotion. Similarly, Applied Value Pvt Ltd won the fourth prize for designing an advertisement for Subisu cable.</p>

<p>Likewise, the Special Recognition Award was given to Water Comm Company while other six companies received merit awards.</p>

<p>The award ceremony was organised with a purpose to encourage the creativity of the advertisement agencies.</p>

<p>The selected advertisements were standout works of creativity among more than 500 advertisements published in New Business Age from June 2016-July 2017. The jury members for the awards were Professor Dr Bhoj Raj Aryal, Abhay Pandey and Balaram Jana.</p>

<p>&quot;The awards were solely given on the basis of the creativity of the advertisement agencies for the particular advertisement in the given period rather than any other elements of the advertisement agencies including their reputation,&quot; said jury member Abhaya Pandey.</p>

<p>He added that the advertisements made in Nepal were given special attention for the awards.</p>

All 17 non-life insurance companies of Nepal have been providing micro insurance service separately. Now, they have decided to work hand-in-hand with the Microfinance Bankers Association and Nepal Insurers Association to make the program more effective. The program focuses on encouraging people of low income group to purchase insurance policy at a low premium rate.</p>

<p>Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s Executive Director Dron Acharya informed that final preparations have been completed to start the program from mid-July. According to him, the first phase of program ill include promotion of the program among people of low income group through 37 institutions associated with Microfinance Bankers Association. The service can be expanded in the second phase to other microfinance companies which are not affiliated to the association, if they show interest. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Under this program, Microfinance Bankers Association will first give training regarding micro insurance to the people involved in this program and they will then return to their respective companies and share the knowledge to the clients.</p>

<p>The non-life insurance companies along with a British aid agency, Sakcham Access to Finance, have set up a fund of Rs 80 million for the micro insurance program. The British agency has contributed Rs 40 million while the remaining amount was raised by the insurance companies of Nepal. The stakeholders have agreed to appoint Prudential Insurance Company as the manager of the fund for the first fiscal year of the programme. The fund manager will be changed every year, informed Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s vice president and Prudential Insurance&rsquo;s CEO B K Maharjan.</p>

<p>The central bank has issued a new directive effective from July 16 to discourage the possibility of such malpractices.</p>

<p>The new directive has amended the existing provisions as well as annulled some provisions related to money laundering and funding terrorism.</p>

<p>NRB has said it has set new criteria for identification of customers as the current scheme of &lsquo;know your customer&rsquo; (KYC) has become obsolete in the changed context.</p>

<p>The central bank&rsquo;s move comes as an effort to stop legalizing black money through money laundering and to curb funding of terrorism in the new fiscal year.</p>

<p>NRB has warned of stern action to the banks and financial institutions which do not follow the new criteria set for identification of account holders. The central bank will first seek clarification from the BFIs not following the directive and warn them not to repeat the mistake. In the second phase, NRB can impose a fine or Rs 1 million if its instructions are not followed. The BFIs still defying the NRB directive will then be liable to pay a fine of Rs 5 million to 50 million.</p>

<p>If the BFIs are found to have aided in money laundering by opening fake accounts then the minimum fine is Rs 5 million. NRB has asked the BFIs to pay special attention when a high-profile person opens a new bank account. BFIs have also been instructed to inform the central bank if any individual deals in repeated transactions up to Rs 1 million within a day. Anyone depositing Rs 1 million or more amount have to mandatorily show the source of income, states the new directive.</p>

<p>BFIs also need to rate their customers as per the new provision. &nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 16: Narayani Transportation Entrepreneurs Association has paid compensation worth Rs 170 million in the fiscal year 2016/17. The association has paid Rs 130 million under its social responsibility and Rs 40 million as property compensation, they informed during a program held in Bharatpur on July 14.</p>

<p>Under the social responsibility, the association provided compensation for the loss or lives or injuries to humans and livestock while the property compensation was given for the damages of vehicles and other properties.</p>

<p>Accidents involving the vehicles affiliated to the association have killed 123 people and injured 1,700 people in the last one year alone. The association has been distributing the funds to the victims through insurance companies, said Badri Prasad Chaulagain, chairman of the association. Compensation for loss of human lives is three times more than the compensation provided to owners of damaged vehicles, he claimed.</p>

<p>The second prize was awarded to Thompson Nepal for its advertisement designing of Ncell and Prismark Advertising was named as the third winner for its advertising design of Hyundai Nepal&rsquo;s promotion. Similarly, Applied Value Pvt Ltd won the fourth prize for designing an advertisement for Subisu cable.</p>

<p>Likewise, the Special Recognition Award was given to Water Comm Company while other six companies received merit awards.</p>

<p>The award ceremony was organised with a purpose to encourage the creativity of the advertisement agencies.</p>

<p>The selected advertisements were standout works of creativity among more than 500 advertisements published in New Business Age from June 2016-July 2017. The jury members for the awards were Professor Dr Bhoj Raj Aryal, Abhay Pandey and Balaram Jana.</p>

<p>&quot;The awards were solely given on the basis of the creativity of the advertisement agencies for the particular advertisement in the given period rather than any other elements of the advertisement agencies including their reputation,&quot; said jury member Abhaya Pandey.</p>

<p>He added that the advertisements made in Nepal were given special attention for the awards.</p>

<p>&quot;The programme has been organised for the third time in a bid to promote the creativity of advertisements made in Nepal,&quot; said Madan Lamsal, CEO of New Business Age Pvt Ltd.&nbsp; He shared that New Business Age will keep on organising similar kind of programmes in the days to come.</p>

<p>The award function started with an interaction about &#39;Novelty, Emotion, Women and Sex in Advertising&#39; and the effects of advertisement in human mind.&nbsp; Sandesh Dhakal, professor at TU and an expert on Darwin&rsquo;s philosophy, was the key speaker while industry analyst Abhaya Pandey was the moderator for the programme. The audiences who were from business, advertisement and media fraternity enjoyed the discussion about the psychology of the consumers and factors that attract the consumers towards the advertisement of the brand. The discussion was focused on novelty, emotion, women and sex in advertisement and their impacts on consumers. &nbsp;AAN President Shrestha shared that the professionals in advertising agencies learned many new things and also gained knowledge about Darwinian perspective on advertisement through the discussion.&nbsp;</p>

All 17 non-life insurance companies of Nepal have been providing micro insurance service separately. Now, they have decided to work hand-in-hand with the Microfinance Bankers Association and Nepal Insurers Association to make the program more effective. The program focuses on encouraging people of low income group to purchase insurance policy at a low premium rate.</p>

<p>Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s Executive Director Dron Acharya informed that final preparations have been completed to start the program from mid-July. According to him, the first phase of program ill include promotion of the program among people of low income group through 37 institutions associated with Microfinance Bankers Association. The service can be expanded in the second phase to other microfinance companies which are not affiliated to the association, if they show interest. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Under this program, Microfinance Bankers Association will first give training regarding micro insurance to the people involved in this program and they will then return to their respective companies and share the knowledge to the clients.</p>

<p>The non-life insurance companies along with a British aid agency, Sakcham Access to Finance, have set up a fund of Rs 80 million for the micro insurance program. The British agency has contributed Rs 40 million while the remaining amount was raised by the insurance companies of Nepal. The stakeholders have agreed to appoint Prudential Insurance Company as the manager of the fund for the first fiscal year of the programme. The fund manager will be changed every year, informed Nepal Insurers Association&rsquo;s vice president and Prudential Insurance&rsquo;s CEO B K Maharjan.</p>
