<p>According to the statistics of the bank, the net income of NRB stood at Rs 23.17 billion in the FY 2012/13 while it went down to Rs 12.7 billion in the FY 2014/15. The bank had earned Rs 37.76 billion profit in the FY 2015/16 but faced net loss of Rs 7 billion in the FY 2016/17.</p>

<p>Sagar Basnet from Arthik Abhiyan Daily won Panchakanya Group Business Photojournalism Award 2074. Likewise, Chandrakala Kshetri from Naya Patrika won KIEC Global Female Photojournalism Award 2074; Naresh Kumar Shrestha (Freelance photojournalist) won Patan Path Lab Freelance Photojournalism Award 2074. Similarly, Thaha Darshan Adhyan Pratisthan Political Photojournalism Award 2074 was awarded to Ratna Krishna Shrestha from RSS. Prabin Koirala (Nepalkhabar.com) won Heavy Help Link Online Photojournalism Award 2074.</p>

<p>Likewise, Sushil Kumar Shrestha (Rajdhani Daily) won Godavari Village Resort Tourism and Cultural Photojournalism Award 2074, Pankaj Shrestha (Kantipur Media Group) won Sports Photojournalism Award 2074, Aryan Dhimal (DCnepal.com) won Entertainment Photojournalism Award 2074, Manoj Poudel (Kantipur Daily, Kapilbastu) won Provincial (Mofussil) Photojournalism Award 2074 and Narayan Bahadur Silwal (Dhadingpost.com) won NFPJ Active Member Photojournalism Award 2074.</p>

<p>All the winners were honored with cheque of Rs 25,000. The programme was organised to honor national photojournalists who capture and convey important messages through their photo. Addressing the programme, Mahara opined that though photojournalism is a tough job, it reveals the reality and the truth. <p style="margin-left:5.0pt">April 27: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on Thursday, April 26, organized a seminar &ldquo;<em>From Build Back Better to Disaster Risk Reduction: Government Responsibilities and the Role of Mutual Help&rdquo; </em>to commemorate the third anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Nepal with support from JICA. According to JICA, about 150 participants representing the government, development partners, civil society, academia and media actively took part in the discussions.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">The seminar highlighted the last three years of progress and achievements in reconstruction and recovery based on the principle of Build Back Better (BBB). Yuba Raj Bhusal, Chief Executive Officer of the NRA, in his keynote speech, explained that the Government of Nepal has been making utmost efforts to expedite the reconstruction process and shared that the government is setting the target to complete all housing reconstruction by July 2019. The same optimism was echoed by two JICA officials from Tokyo, who compared the case of Nepal with some other countries&rsquo; recent experiences and commended Nepal for making steady progress despite many challenges.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Issuing a press statement, JICA said that the NRA also shared two successful cases of accelerating the pace of housing reconstruction and bringing out positive changes in rural livelihoods.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">&ldquo;A common approach underlying both of these examples was the mechanism of mutual help which seems to effectively complement the public support provided by the government,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">According to JICA, one of the examples shared at the seminar is the &lsquo;Community Mobilization Program&rsquo; for housing reconstruction supported by JICA. This group-based, collective approach to housing reconstruction seems to be yielding visible acceleration impact in the JICA supported areas in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk where the reconstruction start rate is 83 percent and completion rate is 40 percent as of March 2018.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">It was also emphasized that creating a platform of mutual help would be an effective way of reaching out with livelihood support to the vulnerable groups who are the hardest hit by the disaster but often tend to be left behind. The speakers unanimously agreed that as clearly outlined in the Post Disaster Recovery Framework, Nepal&rsquo;s recovery is not just concerning physical reconstruction, but it is also about making sure cultural, economic, social and even psychological well-being of the people are taken care of.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Moreover, the seminar discussion brought out the urgent need for the government to take concrete measures for enhancing urban resilience and investment in long-term disaster risk reduction in the country by operationalizing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030).</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">At the seminar venue, 26 photos were displayed which show a diverse range of reconstruction and recovery assistance provided by the Government of Japan and JICA, such as housing and school reconstruction, cultural heritage rehabilitation, reconstruction of public infrastructure, and livelihood improvement for affected farmers.</p>

<p>The National Accounts Statistics of CBS shows that the Gross Value Added (GVA) is estimated to grow by 9.77 percent in the current fiscal in comparison to the corresponding period of last FY.</p>

<p>Last year, the hospitality sector had contributed 1.98 percent to the GDP. The improvement of the sector was possible because of increase in tourist inflow, promotion of internal tourism with campaign like &lsquo;Internal Tourism Year&rsquo;, smooth operation of hotels and restaurants as a result of reduced load-shedding hours.</p>

<p>According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, a total of 940,218 tourists visited Nepal in the FY 2017/18 while 538,970 and 753,002 tourists had visited Nepal in FY 2015/16 and 2016/17 respectively.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">April 27: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on Thursday, April 26, organized a seminar &ldquo;<em>From Build Back Better to Disaster Risk Reduction: Government Responsibilities and the Role of Mutual Help&rdquo; </em>to commemorate the third anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Nepal with support from JICA. According to JICA, about 150 participants representing the government, development partners, civil society, academia and media actively took part in the discussions.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">The seminar highlighted the last three years of progress and achievements in reconstruction and recovery based on the principle of Build Back Better (BBB). Yuba Raj Bhusal, Chief Executive Officer of the NRA, in his keynote speech, explained that the Government of Nepal has been making utmost efforts to expedite the reconstruction process and shared that the government is setting the target to complete all housing reconstruction by July 2019. The same optimism was echoed by two JICA officials from Tokyo, who compared the case of Nepal with some other countries&rsquo; recent experiences and commended Nepal for making steady progress despite many challenges.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Issuing a press statement, JICA said that the NRA also shared two successful cases of accelerating the pace of housing reconstruction and bringing out positive changes in rural livelihoods.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">&ldquo;A common approach underlying both of these examples was the mechanism of mutual help which seems to effectively complement the public support provided by the government,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">According to JICA, one of the examples shared at the seminar is the &lsquo;Community Mobilization Program&rsquo; for housing reconstruction supported by JICA. This group-based, collective approach to housing reconstruction seems to be yielding visible acceleration impact in the JICA supported areas in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk where the reconstruction start rate is 83 percent and completion rate is 40 percent as of March 2018.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">It was also emphasized that creating a platform of mutual help would be an effective way of reaching out with livelihood support to the vulnerable groups who are the hardest hit by the disaster but often tend to be left behind. The speakers unanimously agreed that as clearly outlined in the Post Disaster Recovery Framework, Nepal&rsquo;s recovery is not just concerning physical reconstruction, but it is also about making sure cultural, economic, social and even psychological well-being of the people are taken care of.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Moreover, the seminar discussion brought out the urgent need for the government to take concrete measures for enhancing urban resilience and investment in long-term disaster risk reduction in the country by operationalizing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030).</p>

The improvement of the sector was possible because of increase in tourist inflow, promotion of internal tourism with campaign like &lsquo;Internal Tourism Year&rsquo;, smooth operation of hotels and restaurants as a result of reduced load-shedding hours.</p>

<p>According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, a total of 940,218 tourists visited Nepal in the FY 2017/18 while 538,970 and 753,002 tourists had visited Nepal in FY 2015/16 and 2016/17 respectively.</p>

According to JICA, about 150 participants representing the government, development partners, civil society, academia and media actively took part in the discussions.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">The seminar highlighted the last three years of progress and achievements in reconstruction and recovery based on the principle of Build Back Better (BBB). Yuba Raj Bhusal, Chief Executive Officer of the NRA, in his keynote speech, explained that the Government of Nepal has been making utmost efforts to expedite the reconstruction process and shared that the government is setting the target to complete all housing reconstruction by July 2019. The same optimism was echoed by two JICA officials from Tokyo, who compared the case of Nepal with some other countries&rsquo; recent experiences and commended Nepal for making steady progress despite many challenges.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Issuing a press statement, JICA said that the NRA also shared two successful cases of accelerating the pace of housing reconstruction and bringing out positive changes in rural livelihoods.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">&ldquo;A common approach underlying both of these examples was the mechanism of mutual help which seems to effectively complement the public support provided by the government,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">According to JICA, one of the examples shared at the seminar is the &lsquo;Community Mobilization Program&rsquo; for housing reconstruction supported by JICA. This group-based, collective approach to housing reconstruction seems to be yielding visible acceleration impact in the JICA supported areas in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk where the reconstruction start rate is 83 percent and completion rate is 40 percent as of March 2018.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">It was also emphasized that creating a platform of mutual help would be an effective way of reaching out with livelihood support to the vulnerable groups who are the hardest hit by the disaster but often tend to be left behind. The speakers unanimously agreed that as clearly outlined in the Post Disaster Recovery Framework, Nepal&rsquo;s recovery is not just concerning physical reconstruction, but it is also about making sure cultural, economic, social and even psychological well-being of the people are taken care of.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Moreover, the seminar discussion brought out the urgent need for the government to take concrete measures for enhancing urban resilience and investment in long-term disaster risk reduction in the country by operationalizing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030).</p>

<p>As the government is in the process of preparing budget for the Fiscal Year 2018/2019, the private sector has drawn the attention of the government stating that investment-friendly policy will help the industrial and productive sector of the country to grow rapidly.</p>

<p>The private sector said so in a program organized by the Management Association of Nepal (MAN) in Kathmandu&nbsp;on Thursday, April 26. Speaking at the event, President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Hari Bhakta Sharma said that the monetary policy should ensure foreign investment in the productive sector of the country.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;The policies should be reformed. The country should be self-reliant on basic needs,&quot; he said, adding that the monetary policy should address all the issues.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">April 27: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on Thursday, April 26, organized a seminar &ldquo;<em>From Build Back Better to Disaster Risk Reduction: Government Responsibilities and the Role of Mutual Help&rdquo; </em>to commemorate the third anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Nepal with support from JICA. According to JICA, about 150 participants representing the government, development partners, civil society, academia and media actively took part in the discussions.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">The seminar highlighted the last three years of progress and achievements in reconstruction and recovery based on the principle of Build Back Better (BBB). Yuba Raj Bhusal, Chief Executive Officer of the NRA, in his keynote speech, explained that the Government of Nepal has been making utmost efforts to expedite the reconstruction process and shared that the government is setting the target to complete all housing reconstruction by July 2019. The same optimism was echoed by two JICA officials from Tokyo, who compared the case of Nepal with some other countries&rsquo; recent experiences and commended Nepal for making steady progress despite many challenges.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Issuing a press statement, JICA said that the NRA also shared two successful cases of accelerating the pace of housing reconstruction and bringing out positive changes in rural livelihoods.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">&ldquo;A common approach underlying both of these examples was the mechanism of mutual help which seems to effectively complement the public support provided by the government,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">According to JICA, one of the examples shared at the seminar is the &lsquo;Community Mobilization Program&rsquo; for housing reconstruction supported by JICA. This group-based, collective approach to housing reconstruction seems to be yielding visible acceleration impact in the JICA supported areas in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk where the reconstruction start rate is 83 percent and completion rate is 40 percent as of March 2018.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">It was also emphasized that creating a platform of mutual help would be an effective way of reaching out with livelihood support to the vulnerable groups who are the hardest hit by the disaster but often tend to be left behind. The speakers unanimously agreed that as clearly outlined in the Post Disaster Recovery Framework, Nepal&rsquo;s recovery is not just concerning physical reconstruction, but it is also about making sure cultural, economic, social and even psychological well-being of the people are taken care of.</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">Moreover, the seminar discussion brought out the urgent need for the government to take concrete measures for enhancing urban resilience and investment in long-term disaster risk reduction in the country by operationalizing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030).</p>

<p style="margin-left:5.0pt">At the seminar venue, 26 photos were displayed which show a diverse range of reconstruction and recovery assistance provided by the Government of Japan and JICA, such as housing and school reconstruction, cultural heritage rehabilitation, reconstruction of public infrastructure, and livelihood improvement for affected farmers.</p>

The improvement of the sector was possible because of increase in tourist inflow, promotion of internal tourism with campaign like &lsquo;Internal Tourism Year&rsquo;, smooth operation of hotels and restaurants as a result of reduced load-shedding hours.</p>

<p>According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, a total of 940,218 tourists visited Nepal in the FY 2017/18 while 538,970 and 753,002 tourists had visited Nepal in FY 2015/16 and 2016/17 respectively.</p>
