The works of the national pride project has been halted after the CMC all of a sudden stopped construction.&nbsp;<br />
The Ministry on Thursday issued a press statement informing that the division bench of justices Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Krishna Bahadur Thapa issued a verdict quashing the interim order issued earlier to stay the ministry&rsquo;s decision.&nbsp;<br />
On December 17, the Italian company had unilaterally submitted a letter to the ministry that it had terminated the contract.&nbsp;<br />
The ministry then restricted the release of the company&#39;s bank guarantee of Rs 2.56 billion at Nepal Investment Bank of Durbar Marg and Standard Chartered Bank of New Baneshwar, the RSS reported. The last date of the bank guarantee is December 31.&nbsp;</h3>

<p>The Investment Board of Nepal said in a statement that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Supplies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be collaborating with the board to organise the summit from March 29-30.</p>

<p>The government is preparing for a presentation on the environment of investment in Nepal, the country&rsquo;s policy on investment and the possible areas of investment during the summit. Discussions will be held on topics like investment opportunities in Nepal, electricity generation in the next 10 years for economic transformation of Nepal, digitalization of information and technology, development of tourism and pilgrimage destinations and sustainable development of transportation infrastructure, according to the IBN statement.</p>

<p>During a press conference organized by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday to inform about the summit, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the investors would be informed of political changes in Nepal. He further said that there has been improvement in investment climate after the 2016 Investment Summit and there are potential new areas of investment in the changed regional and global context.</p>

<p>According to the statement, the previous investment summit held two years ago was instrumental in signing projects with a total investment of around Rs 275 billion and most of them are hydropower projects. The statement further said that 23 companies have shown interests on feasibility study of the projects and some of them have already submitted proposals.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the summit while the finance minister heads the preparation committee which includes vice chair of the National Planning Commission as well as&nbsp; government secretaries and representatives from the private sector.</p>

<p>According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada inaugurated the office in Putalisadak amidst a programme on Wednesday, December 26. The office established as a subordinate body of the Ministry of Finance will function autonomously.</p>

<p>Prior to this, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) owned the responsibility of proceeding with internal borrowings while the Public Debt and Investment Section at the Office of the Auditor General was responsible for the management of external and domestic debt. The newly established office will look after works relating to the debt management including some works of the finance ministry, according to RSS.</p>

<p>According to the chief of the newly opened office, Bishnuraj Dhakal, the office will help for the effective implementation of the government&#39;s fiscal and monetary policies. It will invest in public enterprises, recover loan and look after it its management. Besides, it has been given additional responsibility of looking after some task relating to the internal and external debt executed by the International Cooperation Coordination Division and Economic Policy Analysis Division under &nbsp;the Ministry of Finance. It has been assigned to prepare a draft of the public debt policy as well.</p>

<p>On the occasion, the finance minister expressed his hope that the government&rsquo;s fiscal and monetary policies will see more effectiveness with the office coming into operation.</p>

<p>&quot;Capital is needed for carrying out development activities. For this, the government resources are not enough, and development cannot depend only on grants. This office will count a lot in managing public debt,&quot; RSS quoted Minister Khatiwada as saying.</p>

<p>According to the minister, approximately Rs 10 billion is required alone for physical infrastructure development in the next two years, and Rs 20 billion to upgrade the East-West Highway, complete railway and produce 5,000 megawatts of electricity.</p>

<p>NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal expressed hope that the autonomous body would help manage the capital market of the government and internal debt. It will also help to collect foreign debt on time, he added.</p>

<p>Joint Secretary at the Finance of Ministry Mukunda Poudel pledged that the ministry would provide necessary support to manage the office.</p>

<p>Stating that the government through the Labour Act had mandated the minimum wages for the labourers in every sector, Bista reaffirmed, &quot;The labourers working in all sectors would receive minimum wages as fixed by the government, including the film industry.&quot;</p>

<p>According to him, the labourers working in the multidimensional sector would also be brought under the ambit of social security scheme recently introduced by the government.</p>

<p>He assured that the artistes and technicians working in the entertainment sectors would be ensured social security.</p>

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) made such announcement while unveiling its progress report on post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation on the third anniversary of its establishment on Tuesday, December 25.</p>

<p>Out of 742,135 quake victims with whom the NRA has signed agreements, 337,319 have completed rebuilding their houses while 233,343 houses are currently under construction, said the NRA.</p>

<p>The NRA said in a statement that there has been 77 percent progress in the reconstruction of private housing, out of which 45 percent houses have already been completed while 32 percent houses are currently under construction.</p>

<p>Similarly, the statement says that 80 percent progress has been made in the reconstruction of the educational institutions. As per the available data, 55 percent of the schools have already been reconstructed while 25 percent of them are currently under construction. Out of the 7,553 damaged schools, 4,172 have been reconstructed while 1,921 are under construction.</p>

<p>Likewise, 66 percent progress has been made in the rebuilding of health institutions, 95 percent in government buildings, 54 percent in security sector buildings and 68 percent in the cultural heritage sites.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are on the right track to complete the reconstruction of private housing within this fiscal year,&rdquo; said Sushil Gyewali, the CEO of the NRA. &ldquo;As many structures are currently under construction, we are working towards achieving the goal of completing the rebuilding task within the next two years.&rdquo;</p>

<p>CEO Gyewali told journalists that the NRA is also giving utmost priority to the economic and social rehabilitation, along with the reconstruction of houses.</p>

<p>The foreign exchange department of the central bank issued a notice on Tuesday (December 25), informing that Nepal&rsquo;s commercial banks could bring loan from Indian banks in order to float in the country, according to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).</p>

<p>The state-run news agency of Nepal reported that if the loan is received in convertible foreign currency while taking loan in Indian currency, it must be limited within 50 percent of the primary capital.</p>

<p>However, the commercial banks are not permitted to take loan for investment in hydropower, solar energy, wind energy, transmission line, tunnel way, airport, cable car, bridges and other physical infrastructures.</p>

<p>The banks meeting the capital ceiling fixed by the Nepal Rastra Bank can take loans from the Indian banks based on the decision of their board of directors. However, such banks should be clean without being blacklisted for any international transactions, the central bank said. Similarly, the foreign loan needs to be paid within one to five years.</p>

<p>Nikkei Asian Review, arguably the world&rsquo;s largest financial newspaper, said that the Japanese government plans to establish one-stop facilities, tentatively named as Centers for Multicultural Information and Assistance, in about 100 locations across Japan.</p>

<p>&ldquo;These centers will provide consultations on administrative procedures and everyday life in 11 languages -- Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai, Portuguese, Indonesian, Nepalese and Tagalog -- using translation apps and other means,&quot; the online portal of Nikkei Asian Review mentions.</p>

<p>RSS, the state-run news agency of Nepal, however said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that no official information was received from the Japanese government to this end.</p>

<p>Kandel claimed that the company tried to terminate the contract to take away its deposit of Rs 2 billion after it faced financial crisis back home.</p>

The organiser said that the week-long expo will conclude on January 3.</p>

<p>According to the organiser, the fair will feature as many as 140 stalls. Rasatriya Samachar Samiti reported that there will be the stalls of leather shoes, sandals, sports shoes, school/college footwear and food items.</p>

<p>Fair Coordinator Nawaraj Gautam said the fair&rsquo;s main objective is to inform the citizens about the leather products made in Nepal.</p>

<p>Around 200,000 people are expected to visit the fair which offers discount up to 15 percent on the purchase of the leather items.</p>

<p>Speaking at the inauguration of the 9th edition of Neek Electric Expo at Bhrikutimandap on Friday, December 21, President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Hari Bhakta Sharma, said that the government should create a favourable environment for the Nepali industries to sustain in the market.</p>

<p>He urged the government to control or even ban the import of those products which can be produced in Nepal.</p>

<p>Similarly, Shekhar Golcha, senior vice president of FNCCI, appealed to the government to control illegal trade and promote domestic products while also protecting international and national brands.</p>

<p>Expressing concern on the trade deficit of the country, Golchha said that trade deficit has become a major challenge for the country as it has started affecting the country&rsquo;s &lsquo;balance of payment&rsquo;.</p>

<p>He further said that the cost of doing business in Nepal is higher than other nations because of which there is no hope for having foreign investment in other sectors except tourism and hydropower.</p>

<p>In such scenario, the development of energy sector would help in the government&rsquo;s target of attaining per capita income of $2000.</p>

<p>Nepal Ekarat Engineering Company (NEEK), the title sponsor of the event, also emphasized on developing industries that help to increase the use of electricity and electric products within the country. Managing Director of the company Kush Kumar Joshi said, &ldquo;Hydro energy is the main base to bring prosperity to the country.&rdquo;</p>

<p>On the formal inauguration of the event organised by Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN), representatives from different eminent organizations and associations of the country also reiterated the importance of utilization, prioritization and promotion of domestic products within domestic market.</p>

<p>Sudarshan Prasad Paudyal, first vice president of the Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN) which is organising the five-day event, said that the expo will help in promoting trade of electrical goods through this platform where customers and producers meet face to face.</p>

<p>On the occasion, Paudyal informed that the country imported electric goods worth Rs 78.30 billion in the fiscal year (FY) 2017/18 while it has imported such goods worth Rs 28.47 billion in the first four months of the current FY.</p>

<p>In this context, FEEN urged the support from the government to promote electrical products produced in Nepal and also to waive the customs duty for the import of energy-efficient electrical goods.</p>

<p>The expo organised with the theme &ldquo;Energy for Economic Prosperity&rdquo; features 77 different stalls exhibiting different foreign and national electric brands, energy-efficient products, safety products and smart technological products. The expo expects to attract 100,000 visitors. The five-day expo will be conclude on December 25.</p>

<p>The Investment Board of Nepal said in a statement that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Supplies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be collaborating with the board to organise the summit from March 29-30.</p>

<p>The government is preparing for a presentation on the environment of investment in Nepal, the country&rsquo;s policy on investment and the possible areas of investment during the summit. Discussions will be held on topics like investment opportunities in Nepal, electricity generation in the next 10 years for economic transformation of Nepal, digitalization of information and technology, development of tourism and pilgrimage destinations and sustainable development of transportation infrastructure, according to the IBN statement.</p>

<p>During a press conference organized by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday to inform about the summit, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the investors would be informed of political changes in Nepal. He further said that there has been improvement in investment climate after the 2016 Investment Summit and there are potential new areas of investment in the changed regional and global context.</p>

<p>According to the statement, the previous investment summit held two years ago was instrumental in signing projects with a total investment of around Rs 275 billion and most of them are hydropower projects. The statement further said that 23 companies have shown interests on feasibility study of the projects and some of them have already submitted proposals.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the summit while the finance minister heads the preparation committee which includes vice chair of the National Planning Commission as well as&nbsp; government secretaries and representatives from the private sector.</p>

<p>According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada inaugurated the office in Putalisadak amidst a programme on Wednesday, December 26. The office established as a subordinate body of the Ministry of Finance will function autonomously.</p>

<p>Prior to this, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) owned the responsibility of proceeding with internal borrowings while the Public Debt and Investment Section at the Office of the Auditor General was responsible for the management of external and domestic debt. The newly established office will look after works relating to the debt management including some works of the finance ministry, according to RSS.</p>

<p>According to the chief of the newly opened office, Bishnuraj Dhakal, the office will help for the effective implementation of the government&#39;s fiscal and monetary policies. It will invest in public enterprises, recover loan and look after it its management. Besides, it has been given additional responsibility of looking after some task relating to the internal and external debt executed by the International Cooperation Coordination Division and Economic Policy Analysis Division under &nbsp;the Ministry of Finance. It has been assigned to prepare a draft of the public debt policy as well.</p>

<p>On the occasion, the finance minister expressed his hope that the government&rsquo;s fiscal and monetary policies will see more effectiveness with the office coming into operation.</p>

<p>&quot;Capital is needed for carrying out development activities. For this, the government resources are not enough, and development cannot depend only on grants. This office will count a lot in managing public debt,&quot; RSS quoted Minister Khatiwada as saying.</p>

<p>According to the minister, approximately Rs 10 billion is required alone for physical infrastructure development in the next two years, and Rs 20 billion to upgrade the East-West Highway, complete railway and produce 5,000 megawatts of electricity.</p>

<p>NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal expressed hope that the autonomous body would help manage the capital market of the government and internal debt. It will also help to collect foreign debt on time, he added.</p>

<p>Joint Secretary at the Finance of Ministry Mukunda Poudel pledged that the ministry would provide necessary support to manage the office.</p>

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) made such announcement while unveiling its progress report on post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation on the third anniversary of its establishment on Tuesday, December 25.</p>

<p>Out of 742,135 quake victims with whom the NRA has signed agreements, 337,319 have completed rebuilding their houses while 233,343 houses are currently under construction, said the NRA.</p>

<p>The NRA said in a statement that there has been 77 percent progress in the reconstruction of private housing, out of which 45 percent houses have already been completed while 32 percent houses are currently under construction.</p>

<p>Similarly, the statement says that 80 percent progress has been made in the reconstruction of the educational institutions. As per the available data, 55 percent of the schools have already been reconstructed while 25 percent of them are currently under construction. Out of the 7,553 damaged schools, 4,172 have been reconstructed while 1,921 are under construction.</p>

<p>Likewise, 66 percent progress has been made in the rebuilding of health institutions, 95 percent in government buildings, 54 percent in security sector buildings and 68 percent in the cultural heritage sites.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are on the right track to complete the reconstruction of private housing within this fiscal year,&rdquo; said Sushil Gyewali, the CEO of the NRA. &ldquo;As many structures are currently under construction, we are working towards achieving the goal of completing the rebuilding task within the next two years.&rdquo;</p>

<p>CEO Gyewali told journalists that the NRA is also giving utmost priority to the economic and social rehabilitation, along with the reconstruction of houses.</p>

<p>Nepal Rastra Bank said that it made the new arrangement so that Nepal&#39;s commercial banks could take loan from India&#39;s banks to float the loan here in tourism, agriculture and micro finances.</p>

<p>The foreign exchange department of the central bank issued a notice on Tuesday (December 25), informing that Nepal&rsquo;s commercial banks could bring loan from Indian banks in order to float in the country, according to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).</p>

<p>The state-run news agency of Nepal reported that if the loan is received in convertible foreign currency while taking loan in Indian currency, it must be limited within 50 percent of the primary capital.</p>

<p>However, the commercial banks are not permitted to take loan for investment in hydropower, solar energy, wind energy, transmission line, tunnel way, airport, cable car, bridges and other physical infrastructures.</p>

<p>The banks meeting the capital ceiling fixed by the Nepal Rastra Bank can take loans from the Indian banks based on the decision of their board of directors. However, such banks should be clean without being blacklisted for any international transactions, the central bank said. Similarly, the foreign loan needs to be paid within one to five years.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The government of Japan is accepting about 340,000 foreign workers in targeted industries over five years,&rdquo; RSS quoted Japan&rsquo;s English language business journal Nikkei Asian Review as saying.</p>

<p>Nikkei Asian Review, arguably the world&rsquo;s largest financial newspaper, said that the Japanese government plans to establish one-stop facilities, tentatively named as Centers for Multicultural Information and Assistance, in about 100 locations across Japan.</p>

<p>&ldquo;These centers will provide consultations on administrative procedures and everyday life in 11 languages -- Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai, Portuguese, Indonesian, Nepalese and Tagalog -- using translation apps and other means,&quot; the online portal of Nikkei Asian Review mentions.</p>

<p>RSS, the state-run news agency of Nepal, however said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that no official information was received from the Japanese government to this end.</p>

<p>Likewise, Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security Mahesh Prasad Dahal said that process to constitute a mechanism would be initiated to send Nepalis to Japan after a scheduled visit of a technical team from Japan to Nepal in January 2019, according to RSS.</p>

<p>Speaking at the inauguration of the 9th edition of Neek Electric Expo at Bhrikutimandap on Friday, December 21, President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Hari Bhakta Sharma, said that the government should create a favourable environment for the Nepali industries to sustain in the market.</p>

<p>He urged the government to control or even ban the import of those products which can be produced in Nepal.</p>

<p>Similarly, Shekhar Golcha, senior vice president of FNCCI, appealed to the government to control illegal trade and promote domestic products while also protecting international and national brands.</p>

<p>Expressing concern on the trade deficit of the country, Golchha said that trade deficit has become a major challenge for the country as it has started affecting the country&rsquo;s &lsquo;balance of payment&rsquo;.</p>

<p>He further said that the cost of doing business in Nepal is higher than other nations because of which there is no hope for having foreign investment in other sectors except tourism and hydropower.</p>

<p>In such scenario, the development of energy sector would help in the government&rsquo;s target of attaining per capita income of $2000.</p>

<p>Nepal Ekarat Engineering Company (NEEK), the title sponsor of the event, also emphasized on developing industries that help to increase the use of electricity and electric products within the country. Managing Director of the company Kush Kumar Joshi said, &ldquo;Hydro energy is the main base to bring prosperity to the country.&rdquo;</p>

<p>On the formal inauguration of the event organised by Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN), representatives from different eminent organizations and associations of the country also reiterated the importance of utilization, prioritization and promotion of domestic products within domestic market.</p>

<p>Sudarshan Prasad Paudyal, first vice president of the Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN) which is organising the five-day event, said that the expo will help in promoting trade of electrical goods through this platform where customers and producers meet face to face.</p>

<p>On the occasion, Paudyal informed that the country imported electric goods worth Rs 78.30 billion in the fiscal year (FY) 2017/18 while it has imported such goods worth Rs 28.47 billion in the first four months of the current FY.</p>

<p>In this context, FEEN urged the support from the government to promote electrical products produced in Nepal and also to waive the customs duty for the import of energy-efficient electrical goods.</p>

<p>The expo organised with the theme &ldquo;Energy for Economic Prosperity&rdquo; features 77 different stalls exhibiting different foreign and national electric brands, energy-efficient products, safety products and smart technological products. The expo expects to attract 100,000 visitors. The five-day expo will be conclude on December 25.</p>

<p>The Investment Board of Nepal said in a statement that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Supplies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be collaborating with the board to organise the summit from March 29-30.</p>

<p>The government is preparing for a presentation on the environment of investment in Nepal, the country&rsquo;s policy on investment and the possible areas of investment during the summit. Discussions will be held on topics like investment opportunities in Nepal, electricity generation in the next 10 years for economic transformation of Nepal, digitalization of information and technology, development of tourism and pilgrimage destinations and sustainable development of transportation infrastructure, according to the IBN statement.</p>

<p>During a press conference organized by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday to inform about the summit, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the investors would be informed of political changes in Nepal. He further said that there has been improvement in investment climate after the 2016 Investment Summit and there are potential new areas of investment in the changed regional and global context.</p>

<p>According to the statement, the previous investment summit held two years ago was instrumental in signing projects with a total investment of around Rs 275 billion and most of them are hydropower projects. The statement further said that 23 companies have shown interests on feasibility study of the projects and some of them have already submitted proposals.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the summit while the finance minister heads the preparation committee which includes vice chair of the National Planning Commission as well as&nbsp; government secretaries and representatives from the private sector.</p>

<p>According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada inaugurated the office in Putalisadak amidst a programme on Wednesday, December 26. The office established as a subordinate body of the Ministry of Finance will function autonomously.</p>

<p>Prior to this, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) owned the responsibility of proceeding with internal borrowings while the Public Debt and Investment Section at the Office of the Auditor General was responsible for the management of external and domestic debt. The newly established office will look after works relating to the debt management including some works of the finance ministry, according to RSS.</p>

<p>According to the chief of the newly opened office, Bishnuraj Dhakal, the office will help for the effective implementation of the government&#39;s fiscal and monetary policies. It will invest in public enterprises, recover loan and look after it its management. Besides, it has been given additional responsibility of looking after some task relating to the internal and external debt executed by the International Cooperation Coordination Division and Economic Policy Analysis Division under &nbsp;the Ministry of Finance. It has been assigned to prepare a draft of the public debt policy as well.</p>

<p>On the occasion, the finance minister expressed his hope that the government&rsquo;s fiscal and monetary policies will see more effectiveness with the office coming into operation.</p>

<p>&quot;Capital is needed for carrying out development activities. For this, the government resources are not enough, and development cannot depend only on grants. This office will count a lot in managing public debt,&quot; RSS quoted Minister Khatiwada as saying.</p>

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) made such announcement while unveiling its progress report on post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation on the third anniversary of its establishment on Tuesday, December 25.</p>

<p>Out of 742,135 quake victims with whom the NRA has signed agreements, 337,319 have completed rebuilding their houses while 233,343 houses are currently under construction, said the NRA.</p>

<p>The NRA said in a statement that there has been 77 percent progress in the reconstruction of private housing, out of which 45 percent houses have already been completed while 32 percent houses are currently under construction.</p>

<p>Similarly, the statement says that 80 percent progress has been made in the reconstruction of the educational institutions. As per the available data, 55 percent of the schools have already been reconstructed while 25 percent of them are currently under construction. Out of the 7,553 damaged schools, 4,172 have been reconstructed while 1,921 are under construction.</p>

<p>Likewise, 66 percent progress has been made in the rebuilding of health institutions, 95 percent in government buildings, 54 percent in security sector buildings and 68 percent in the cultural heritage sites.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are on the right track to complete the reconstruction of private housing within this fiscal year,&rdquo; said Sushil Gyewali, the CEO of the NRA. &ldquo;As many structures are currently under construction, we are working towards achieving the goal of completing the rebuilding task within the next two years.&rdquo;</p>

<p>CEO Gyewali told journalists that the NRA is also giving utmost priority to the economic and social rehabilitation, along with the reconstruction of houses.</p>

<p>The foreign exchange department of the central bank issued a notice on Tuesday (December 25), informing that Nepal&rsquo;s commercial banks could bring loan from Indian banks in order to float in the country, according to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).</p>

<p>The state-run news agency of Nepal reported that if the loan is received in convertible foreign currency while taking loan in Indian currency, it must be limited within 50 percent of the primary capital.</p>

<p>However, the commercial banks are not permitted to take loan for investment in hydropower, solar energy, wind energy, transmission line, tunnel way, airport, cable car, bridges and other physical infrastructures.</p>

<p>The banks meeting the capital ceiling fixed by the Nepal Rastra Bank can take loans from the Indian banks based on the decision of their board of directors. However, such banks should be clean without being blacklisted for any international transactions, the central bank said. Similarly, the foreign loan needs to be paid within one to five years.</p>

<p>On the formal inauguration of the event organised by Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN), representatives from different eminent organizations and associations of the country also reiterated the importance of utilization, prioritization and promotion of domestic products within domestic market.</p>

<p>Sudarshan Prasad Paudyal, first vice president of the Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN) which is organising the five-day event, said that the expo will help in promoting trade of electrical goods through this platform where customers and producers meet face to face.</p>

<p>On the occasion, Paudyal informed that the country imported electric goods worth Rs 78.30 billion in the fiscal year (FY) 2017/18 while it has imported such goods worth Rs 28.47 billion in the first four months of the current FY.</p>

<p>In this context, FEEN urged the support from the government to promote electrical products produced in Nepal and also to waive the customs duty for the import of energy-efficient electrical goods.</p>

<p>The expo organised with the theme &ldquo;Energy for Economic Prosperity&rdquo; features 77 different stalls exhibiting different foreign and national electric brands, energy-efficient products, safety products and smart technological products. The expo expects to attract 100,000 visitors. The five-day expo will be conclude on December 25.</p>

On December 17, the Italian company had unilaterally submitted a letter to the ministry that it had terminated the contract.&nbsp;<br />
The ministry then restricted the release of the company&#39;s bank guarantee of Rs 2.56 billion at Nepal Investment Bank of Durbar Marg and Standard Chartered Bank of New Baneshwar, the RSS reported. The last date of the bank guarantee is December 31.&nbsp;</h3>

<p>The Investment Board of Nepal said in a statement that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Supplies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be collaborating with the board to organise the summit from March 29-30.</p>

<p>The government is preparing for a presentation on the environment of investment in Nepal, the country&rsquo;s policy on investment and the possible areas of investment during the summit. Discussions will be held on topics like investment opportunities in Nepal, electricity generation in the next 10 years for economic transformation of Nepal, digitalization of information and technology, development of tourism and pilgrimage destinations and sustainable development of transportation infrastructure, according to the IBN statement.</p>

<p>During a press conference organized by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday to inform about the summit, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the investors would be informed of political changes in Nepal. He further said that there has been improvement in investment climate after the 2016 Investment Summit and there are potential new areas of investment in the changed regional and global context.</p>

<p>According to the statement, the previous investment summit held two years ago was instrumental in signing projects with a total investment of around Rs 275 billion and most of them are hydropower projects. The statement further said that 23 companies have shown interests on feasibility study of the projects and some of them have already submitted proposals.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the summit while the finance minister heads the preparation committee which includes vice chair of the National Planning Commission as well as&nbsp; government secretaries and representatives from the private sector.</p>

<p>According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada inaugurated the office in Putalisadak amidst a programme on Wednesday, December 26. The office established as a subordinate body of the Ministry of Finance will function autonomously.</p>

<p>Prior to this, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) owned the responsibility of proceeding with internal borrowings while the Public Debt and Investment Section at the Office of the Auditor General was responsible for the management of external and domestic debt. The newly established office will look after works relating to the debt management including some works of the finance ministry, according to RSS.</p>

<p>According to the chief of the newly opened office, Bishnuraj Dhakal, the office will help for the effective implementation of the government&#39;s fiscal and monetary policies. It will invest in public enterprises, recover loan and look after it its management. Besides, it has been given additional responsibility of looking after some task relating to the internal and external debt executed by the International Cooperation Coordination Division and Economic Policy Analysis Division under &nbsp;the Ministry of Finance. It has been assigned to prepare a draft of the public debt policy as well.</p>

<p>On the occasion, the finance minister expressed his hope that the government&rsquo;s fiscal and monetary policies will see more effectiveness with the office coming into operation.</p>

<p>&quot;Capital is needed for carrying out development activities. For this, the government resources are not enough, and development cannot depend only on grants. This office will count a lot in managing public debt,&quot; RSS quoted Minister Khatiwada as saying.</p>

<p>According to the minister, approximately Rs 10 billion is required alone for physical infrastructure development in the next two years, and Rs 20 billion to upgrade the East-West Highway, complete railway and produce 5,000 megawatts of electricity.</p>

<p>NRB Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal expressed hope that the autonomous body would help manage the capital market of the government and internal debt. It will also help to collect foreign debt on time, he added.</p>

<p>Joint Secretary at the Finance of Ministry Mukunda Poudel pledged that the ministry would provide necessary support to manage the office.</p>

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) made such announcement while unveiling its progress report on post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation on the third anniversary of its establishment on Tuesday, December 25.</p>

<p>Out of 742,135 quake victims with whom the NRA has signed agreements, 337,319 have completed rebuilding their houses while 233,343 houses are currently under construction, said the NRA.</p>

<p>The NRA said in a statement that there has been 77 percent progress in the reconstruction of private housing, out of which 45 percent houses have already been completed while 32 percent houses are currently under construction.</p>

<p>Similarly, the statement says that 80 percent progress has been made in the reconstruction of the educational institutions. As per the available data, 55 percent of the schools have already been reconstructed while 25 percent of them are currently under construction. Out of the 7,553 damaged schools, 4,172 have been reconstructed while 1,921 are under construction.</p>

<p>Likewise, 66 percent progress has been made in the rebuilding of health institutions, 95 percent in government buildings, 54 percent in security sector buildings and 68 percent in the cultural heritage sites.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are on the right track to complete the reconstruction of private housing within this fiscal year,&rdquo; said Sushil Gyewali, the CEO of the NRA. &ldquo;As many structures are currently under construction, we are working towards achieving the goal of completing the rebuilding task within the next two years.&rdquo;</p>

<p>CEO Gyewali told journalists that the NRA is also giving utmost priority to the economic and social rehabilitation, along with the reconstruction of houses.</p>

<p>The foreign exchange department of the central bank issued a notice on Tuesday (December 25), informing that Nepal&rsquo;s commercial banks could bring loan from Indian banks in order to float in the country, according to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).</p>

<p>The state-run news agency of Nepal reported that if the loan is received in convertible foreign currency while taking loan in Indian currency, it must be limited within 50 percent of the primary capital.</p>

<p>However, the commercial banks are not permitted to take loan for investment in hydropower, solar energy, wind energy, transmission line, tunnel way, airport, cable car, bridges and other physical infrastructures.</p>

<p>The banks meeting the capital ceiling fixed by the Nepal Rastra Bank can take loans from the Indian banks based on the decision of their board of directors. However, such banks should be clean without being blacklisted for any international transactions, the central bank said. Similarly, the foreign loan needs to be paid within one to five years.</p>

<p>&ldquo;These centers will provide consultations on administrative procedures and everyday life in 11 languages -- Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai, Portuguese, Indonesian, Nepalese and Tagalog -- using translation apps and other means,&quot; the online portal of Nikkei Asian Review mentions.</p>

<p>RSS, the state-run news agency of Nepal, however said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that no official information was received from the Japanese government to this end.</p>

<p>The company had been demanding compensation of Rs 1.65 billion from the government to make up for the loss incurred by the devastating earthquake of 2015. However, a board comprising of representatives from the government as well as the contractor company, had decided to settle the issue for a compensation of Rs 360 million.</p>

<p>Kandel claimed that the company tried to terminate the contract to take away its deposit of Rs 2 billion after it faced financial crisis back home.</p>

The organiser said that the week-long expo will conclude on January 3.</p>

<p>According to the organiser, the fair will feature as many as 140 stalls. Rasatriya Samachar Samiti reported that there will be the stalls of leather shoes, sandals, sports shoes, school/college footwear and food items.</p>

<p>Fair Coordinator Nawaraj Gautam said the fair&rsquo;s main objective is to inform the citizens about the leather products made in Nepal.</p>

<p>Around 200,000 people are expected to visit the fair which offers discount up to 15 percent on the purchase of the leather items.</p>

<p>The national news agency quoted the chief of Weather Field Office, AP Chaurasiya, saying that the minimum temperature of Banke district was 6 degrees Celsius on Monday, December 24. The temperature of Banke district is decreasing since the past two days.</p>

<p>According to RSS, the morning flights from Nepalgunj airport were disrupted due to low visibility following the cold wave and thick fog. There was only 400 meters visibility in the district Tuesday morning, added Chaurasiya.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation will use this system to find out the actual contribution of tourism sector to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country as well as to maintain data related to the tourism sector.</p>

<p>The ministry informed New Business Age that they will implement the system from the next fiscal year after completing the survey in the current FY.</p>

<p>Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari said that the contribution of tourism sector to the GDP seems apparently less at present since all the indicators of tourism are not taken into consideration. However, with the introduction of the new system, the contribution of the tourism sector will be much higher, claimed the minister.</p>

<p>Speaking at the inauguration of the 9th edition of Neek Electric Expo at Bhrikutimandap on Friday, December 21, President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Hari Bhakta Sharma, said that the government should create a favourable environment for the Nepali industries to sustain in the market.</p>

<p>He urged the government to control or even ban the import of those products which can be produced in Nepal.</p>

<p>Similarly, Shekhar Golcha, senior vice president of FNCCI, appealed to the government to control illegal trade and promote domestic products while also protecting international and national brands.</p>

<p>Expressing concern on the trade deficit of the country, Golchha said that trade deficit has become a major challenge for the country as it has started affecting the country&rsquo;s &lsquo;balance of payment&rsquo;.</p>

<p>He further said that the cost of doing business in Nepal is higher than other nations because of which there is no hope for having foreign investment in other sectors except tourism and hydropower.</p>

<p>In such scenario, the development of energy sector would help in the government&rsquo;s target of attaining per capita income of $2000.</p>

<p>Nepal Ekarat Engineering Company (NEEK), the title sponsor of the event, also emphasized on developing industries that help to increase the use of electricity and electric products within the country. Managing Director of the company Kush Kumar Joshi said, &ldquo;Hydro energy is the main base to bring prosperity to the country.&rdquo;</p>

<p>On the formal inauguration of the event organised by Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN), representatives from different eminent organizations and associations of the country also reiterated the importance of utilization, prioritization and promotion of domestic products within domestic market.</p>

<p>Sudarshan Prasad Paudyal, first vice president of the Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN) which is organising the five-day event, said that the expo will help in promoting trade of electrical goods through this platform where customers and producers meet face to face.</p>

<p>On the occasion, Paudyal informed that the country imported electric goods worth Rs 78.30 billion in the fiscal year (FY) 2017/18 while it has imported such goods worth Rs 28.47 billion in the first four months of the current FY.</p>

<p>In this context, FEEN urged the support from the government to promote electrical products produced in Nepal and also to waive the customs duty for the import of energy-efficient electrical goods.</p>

<p>The expo organised with the theme &ldquo;Energy for Economic Prosperity&rdquo; features 77 different stalls exhibiting different foreign and national electric brands, energy-efficient products, safety products and smart technological products. The expo expects to attract 100,000 visitors. The five-day expo will be conclude on December 25.</p>
