	February 14: With the celebration of &#39;Valentine&rsquo;s Day&#39; gaining popularity in Nepal, the demand for red roses has also shot up. However, Nepal itself has very small scale of production of the roses mostly used on Valentine&rsquo;s Day.</p>
<p>
	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), there are only a handful of farmers in Nepal who have been cultivating roses for commercial use. The state-run news agency reported that there is a vast gap between the demand and production of roses in the market.</p>
<p>
	Nevertheless, a youth farmer in Chitwan made a lucrative income from the sale of roses in view of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day, reported RSS.</p>
<p>
	According to Prakash Pant, a local of Bharatpur Metropolis-18, Gunjanagar, the rose business gave him a net profit of Rs 300,000.</p>
<p>
	Pant said that the plants cultivated in the month of April/May yield production from November.</p>
<p>
	There is a demand for 20,000 rose sticks in Chitwan on the occasion of Valentine&rsquo;s Day, said Pant, who is also the chair of Chitwan chapter of Floriculture Association of Nepal.</p>
<p>
	He has been supplying roses to major cities of Nepal, including Chitwan, Pokhara and Kathmandu.</p>

	February 14: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM), the government body authorised to issue driving licenses, has initiated a new system to inform the people about the results of their driving license test and information on the status of smart card through SMS.</p>

	Lawanya Kumar Dhakal, director general of DoTM, and Arvind Sah, managing director of Sparrow SMS, signed an agreement to this effect amid a recent ceremony organized at the DoTM head office in Minbhawan, Kathmandu.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the system, Dhakal expressed confidence that use of ICT will be very effective in informing license aspirants about the test results and license printing status.</p>
<p>
	The DoTM said in a statement that it had begun distribution of smart driving license from December 2015. The department has also recently started an online application process for driving license in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	The initiation of the SMS service for showing driving license results for written tests and driving license status is expected to benefit the service seekers who no longer have to visit the DoTM office to see the result and get the information for the license status.</p>
<p>
	The department expects the new service to end long queues in transportation offices for getting simple information. People can receive the information by sending SMS to 33001 for just Rs 5.</p>
<p>
	To check the result for the written test, service seekers will have to type &lsquo;WT &lt;space&gt; [Application ID number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001. Similarly, to check the printing status of smart driving license, service seekers have to type &lsquo;LC &lt;space&gt; [Application ID Number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001.</p>
<p>
	On an average, around 3,000 people apply for smart driving license on every working day, the department said.</p>

	The government aims to end unemployment by creating new jobs within the country in collaboration with the private and cooperative sectors in coordination among federal, provincial and local levels.</p>
<p>
	Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that the programme has been brought in line with Article 33 of the constitution which guarantees every Nepali the right to employment. It is also as per the Employment Rights Act 2075.</p>
<p>
	The programme is aimed at discouraging Nepalis to leave the country for foreign employment due to compulsion in the coming five years.</p>
<p>
	The government has announced a minimum of 100 days employment for unemployed youths in a year. Similarly, subsistence allowance would be provided to the families having no job holders.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the programme, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the government was moving ahead with clear policy and vision.</p>
<p>
	&quot;We want to change Nepal&#39;s identity. Nepal is not poor, but a prosperous country; not a least developed but a developed country,&quot; RSS quoted Oli as saying.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;He added that life insurance, social security allowance and agriculture modernization programmes were launched to ensure prosperity in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	From coming Falgun 1, the country will mark this day as &#39;employment day&#39;, he said.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, said the employment programme is for those who are unable to get minimum wage for livelihood.</p>
<p>
	&quot;It is not that every unemployed person will be given allowance,&quot; he made it clear.</p>
<p>
	Chief Minister of Province 3, Dormani Poudel, hoped the programme would contribute to making society equitable and prosperous through socialism.</p>

	According to a report unveiled by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 91,793 tourists visited Nepal in January this year where as only 73,187 foreigners had visited Nepal in the same period last year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists includes those arriving via land and air.</p>
<p>
	According to NTB, a total of 77,300 tourists visited Nepal by air route and 14, 493 visited the country via land during the month of January.</p>
<p>
	The record of NTB shows that 14,650 Indian nationals visited Nepal during the review period. The number of the tourists arriving from India was recorded at 12,152 in January last year.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the report also shows rise in arrival of Chinese tourists. A total of 12,027 Chinese had visited Nepal in January last year which has slightly grown up to 13,688 this year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists from Thailand, the USA and South Korea has also increased. Altogether 8,442 Thai tourists visited Nepal in January this year while the number of American and South Korean tourists was 7,028 and 6,584 respectively.</p>

	Khagendra Rawat, chairperson of Chhededaha ward-7, informed RSS that the lightning caused damages to a Nepal Telecom tower based in the forest at Chhededaha.</p>
<p>
	With the damages to the tower and solar panels, the telecom service of the state-owned company has come to a complete halt in the area. There has been no telecom-facilitated connectivity in and around Aatichaur, Gudukhati and Dogadi areas for the past three days, RSS said. &nbsp;</p>
<p>
	The lightning has reportedly destroyed all 15 solar panels installed around the tower.</p>
<p>
	The disruption of telecom service has caused trouble to the local people for day-to-day communications.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Man Bahadur Rokaya, Information Officer at Bajura-based Nepal Telecom office, shared that the lightning has also triggered damages to another NTC tower at Kalajagra. It has obstructed all the services of Nepal Telecom at Kolti region. Rokaya informed that it may take couples of days to repair the tower as the location is fully covered with pileup of snow.</p>

	A tower of Subisu, an internet service provider company, was also partially damaged due to lightning.</p>

	A joint bench of the Special Court Chair Baburam Aryal and justices Pramod Kumar Shrestha and Narayan Prasad Pokharel handed down the order to his end, reported Rastriya Sasmachar Samiti (RSS). Khadka was released on a bank guarantee worth the amount from Nepal Investment Bank.</p>
<p>
	The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case of corruption against Khadka on January 7 accusing him of amassing property worth Rs 186.6 million through illegal means. It had also sought a prison sentence of two years along with confiscation of assets worth the amount and fine, according to RSS. &nbsp;</p>

	The CIAA had accused Khadka of concealing the property he gained by abusing his authority in the name of his spouse Sharmila Khadka and a woman named Anita Lama.</p>

	Gadkari made such remarks during a bilateral meeting in New Dehli on Tuesday with a Nepali delegation led by visiting Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun.</p>

	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the Indian side told the Nepali delegation that they can take maximum benefit from the waterways adding that the route up to Trivenighat would be linking Kolkata to Haldiya in India to Narayani River in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	Spokesperson of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Prabal Adhikari, who was present at the ministerial-level meeting, said that the two ministers held discussions on key issues regarding the ongoing progress taking place in water transportation.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Minister Pun and his Indian counterpart Gadkari also touched upon the issues to bring ship into operation that was discussed with the Indian leaders during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli&rsquo;s last India visit, reported RSS.</p>
<p>
	India is developing some 1,400 kms long waterways from Kolkata to Haldiya to Banaras.</p>

	February 14: With the celebration of &#39;Valentine&rsquo;s Day&#39; gaining popularity in Nepal, the demand for red roses has also shot up. However, Nepal itself has very small scale of production of the roses mostly used on Valentine&rsquo;s Day.</p>

	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), there are only a handful of farmers in Nepal who have been cultivating roses for commercial use. The state-run news agency reported that there is a vast gap between the demand and production of roses in the market.</p>
<p>
	Nevertheless, a youth farmer in Chitwan made a lucrative income from the sale of roses in view of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day, reported RSS.</p>
<p>
	According to Prakash Pant, a local of Bharatpur Metropolis-18, Gunjanagar, the rose business gave him a net profit of Rs 300,000.</p>
<p>
	Pant said that the plants cultivated in the month of April/May yield production from November.</p>
<p>
	There is a demand for 20,000 rose sticks in Chitwan on the occasion of Valentine&rsquo;s Day, said Pant, who is also the chair of Chitwan chapter of Floriculture Association of Nepal.</p>
<p>
	He has been supplying roses to major cities of Nepal, including Chitwan, Pokhara and Kathmandu.</p>

	Lawanya Kumar Dhakal, director general of DoTM, and Arvind Sah, managing director of Sparrow SMS, signed an agreement to this effect amid a recent ceremony organized at the DoTM head office in Minbhawan, Kathmandu.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the system, Dhakal expressed confidence that use of ICT will be very effective in informing license aspirants about the test results and license printing status.</p>
<p>
	The DoTM said in a statement that it had begun distribution of smart driving license from December 2015. The department has also recently started an online application process for driving license in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	The initiation of the SMS service for showing driving license results for written tests and driving license status is expected to benefit the service seekers who no longer have to visit the DoTM office to see the result and get the information for the license status.</p>
<p>
	The department expects the new service to end long queues in transportation offices for getting simple information. People can receive the information by sending SMS to 33001 for just Rs 5.</p>
<p>
	To check the result for the written test, service seekers will have to type &lsquo;WT &lt;space&gt; [Application ID number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001. Similarly, to check the printing status of smart driving license, service seekers have to type &lsquo;LC &lt;space&gt; [Application ID Number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001.</p>
<p>
	On an average, around 3,000 people apply for smart driving license on every working day, the department said.</p>

	The government aims to end unemployment by creating new jobs within the country in collaboration with the private and cooperative sectors in coordination among federal, provincial and local levels.</p>
<p>
	Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that the programme has been brought in line with Article 33 of the constitution which guarantees every Nepali the right to employment. It is also as per the Employment Rights Act 2075.</p>
<p>
	The programme is aimed at discouraging Nepalis to leave the country for foreign employment due to compulsion in the coming five years.</p>
<p>
	The government has announced a minimum of 100 days employment for unemployed youths in a year. Similarly, subsistence allowance would be provided to the families having no job holders.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the programme, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the government was moving ahead with clear policy and vision.</p>
<p>
	&quot;We want to change Nepal&#39;s identity. Nepal is not poor, but a prosperous country; not a least developed but a developed country,&quot; RSS quoted Oli as saying.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;He added that life insurance, social security allowance and agriculture modernization programmes were launched to ensure prosperity in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	From coming Falgun 1, the country will mark this day as &#39;employment day&#39;, he said.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, said the employment programme is for those who are unable to get minimum wage for livelihood.</p>
<p>
	&quot;It is not that every unemployed person will be given allowance,&quot; he made it clear.</p>

	Chief Minister of Province 3, Dormani Poudel, hoped the programme would contribute to making society equitable and prosperous through socialism.</p>

	February 13: The number of foreign nationals visiting Nepal in January 2019 has increased by 25 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.</p>

	According to a report unveiled by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 91,793 tourists visited Nepal in January this year where as only 73,187 foreigners had visited Nepal in the same period last year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists includes those arriving via land and air.</p>
<p>
	According to NTB, a total of 77,300 tourists visited Nepal by air route and 14, 493 visited the country via land during the month of January.</p>
<p>
	The record of NTB shows that 14,650 Indian nationals visited Nepal during the review period. The number of the tourists arriving from India was recorded at 12,152 in January last year.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the report also shows rise in arrival of Chinese tourists. A total of 12,027 Chinese had visited Nepal in January last year which has slightly grown up to 13,688 this year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists from Thailand, the USA and South Korea has also increased. Altogether 8,442 Thai tourists visited Nepal in January this year while the number of American and South Korean tourists was 7,028 and 6,584 respectively.</p>

	Khagendra Rawat, chairperson of Chhededaha ward-7, informed RSS that the lightning caused damages to a Nepal Telecom tower based in the forest at Chhededaha.</p>
<p>
	With the damages to the tower and solar panels, the telecom service of the state-owned company has come to a complete halt in the area. There has been no telecom-facilitated connectivity in and around Aatichaur, Gudukhati and Dogadi areas for the past three days, RSS said. &nbsp;</p>
<p>
	The lightning has reportedly destroyed all 15 solar panels installed around the tower.</p>
<p>
	The disruption of telecom service has caused trouble to the local people for day-to-day communications.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Man Bahadur Rokaya, Information Officer at Bajura-based Nepal Telecom office, shared that the lightning has also triggered damages to another NTC tower at Kalajagra. It has obstructed all the services of Nepal Telecom at Kolti region. Rokaya informed that it may take couples of days to repair the tower as the location is fully covered with pileup of snow.</p>

	A tower of Subisu, an internet service provider company, was also partially damaged due to lightning.</p>

	A joint bench of the Special Court Chair Baburam Aryal and justices Pramod Kumar Shrestha and Narayan Prasad Pokharel handed down the order to his end, reported Rastriya Sasmachar Samiti (RSS). Khadka was released on a bank guarantee worth the amount from Nepal Investment Bank.</p>
<p>
	The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case of corruption against Khadka on January 7 accusing him of amassing property worth Rs 186.6 million through illegal means. It had also sought a prison sentence of two years along with confiscation of assets worth the amount and fine, according to RSS. &nbsp;</p>

	The CIAA had accused Khadka of concealing the property he gained by abusing his authority in the name of his spouse Sharmila Khadka and a woman named Anita Lama.</p>

	Gadkari made such remarks during a bilateral meeting in New Dehli on Tuesday with a Nepali delegation led by visiting Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun.</p>

	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the Indian side told the Nepali delegation that they can take maximum benefit from the waterways adding that the route up to Trivenighat would be linking Kolkata to Haldiya in India to Narayani River in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	Spokesperson of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Prabal Adhikari, who was present at the ministerial-level meeting, said that the two ministers held discussions on key issues regarding the ongoing progress taking place in water transportation.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Minister Pun and his Indian counterpart Gadkari also touched upon the issues to bring ship into operation that was discussed with the Indian leaders during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli&rsquo;s last India visit, reported RSS.</p>

	India is developing some 1,400 kms long waterways from Kolkata to Haldiya to Banaras.</p>

	February 14: With the celebration of &#39;Valentine&rsquo;s Day&#39; gaining popularity in Nepal, the demand for red roses has also shot up. However, Nepal itself has very small scale of production of the roses mostly used on Valentine&rsquo;s Day.</p>

	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), there are only a handful of farmers in Nepal who have been cultivating roses for commercial use. The state-run news agency reported that there is a vast gap between the demand and production of roses in the market.</p>
<p>
	Nevertheless, a youth farmer in Chitwan made a lucrative income from the sale of roses in view of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day, reported RSS.</p>
<p>
	According to Prakash Pant, a local of Bharatpur Metropolis-18, Gunjanagar, the rose business gave him a net profit of Rs 300,000.</p>
<p>
	Pant said that the plants cultivated in the month of April/May yield production from November.</p>
<p>
	There is a demand for 20,000 rose sticks in Chitwan on the occasion of Valentine&rsquo;s Day, said Pant, who is also the chair of Chitwan chapter of Floriculture Association of Nepal.</p>
<p>
	He has been supplying roses to major cities of Nepal, including Chitwan, Pokhara and Kathmandu.</p>

	Lawanya Kumar Dhakal, director general of DoTM, and Arvind Sah, managing director of Sparrow SMS, signed an agreement to this effect amid a recent ceremony organized at the DoTM head office in Minbhawan, Kathmandu.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the system, Dhakal expressed confidence that use of ICT will be very effective in informing license aspirants about the test results and license printing status.</p>
<p>
	The DoTM said in a statement that it had begun distribution of smart driving license from December 2015. The department has also recently started an online application process for driving license in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	The initiation of the SMS service for showing driving license results for written tests and driving license status is expected to benefit the service seekers who no longer have to visit the DoTM office to see the result and get the information for the license status.</p>
<p>
	The department expects the new service to end long queues in transportation offices for getting simple information. People can receive the information by sending SMS to 33001 for just Rs 5.</p>
<p>
	To check the result for the written test, service seekers will have to type &lsquo;WT &lt;space&gt; [Application ID number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001. Similarly, to check the printing status of smart driving license, service seekers have to type &lsquo;LC &lt;space&gt; [Application ID Number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001.</p>
<p>
	On an average, around 3,000 people apply for smart driving license on every working day, the department said.</p>

	The government aims to end unemployment by creating new jobs within the country in collaboration with the private and cooperative sectors in coordination among federal, provincial and local levels.</p>

	Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that the programme has been brought in line with Article 33 of the constitution which guarantees every Nepali the right to employment. It is also as per the Employment Rights Act 2075.</p>
<p>
	The programme is aimed at discouraging Nepalis to leave the country for foreign employment due to compulsion in the coming five years.</p>
<p>
	The government has announced a minimum of 100 days employment for unemployed youths in a year. Similarly, subsistence allowance would be provided to the families having no job holders.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the programme, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the government was moving ahead with clear policy and vision.</p>
<p>
	&quot;We want to change Nepal&#39;s identity. Nepal is not poor, but a prosperous country; not a least developed but a developed country,&quot; RSS quoted Oli as saying.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;He added that life insurance, social security allowance and agriculture modernization programmes were launched to ensure prosperity in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	From coming Falgun 1, the country will mark this day as &#39;employment day&#39;, he said.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, said the employment programme is for those who are unable to get minimum wage for livelihood.</p>
<p>
	&quot;It is not that every unemployed person will be given allowance,&quot; he made it clear.</p>
<p>
	Chief Minister of Province 3, Dormani Poudel, hoped the programme would contribute to making society equitable and prosperous through socialism.</p>

	February 13: The number of foreign nationals visiting Nepal in January 2019 has increased by 25 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.</p>

	According to a report unveiled by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 91,793 tourists visited Nepal in January this year where as only 73,187 foreigners had visited Nepal in the same period last year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists includes those arriving via land and air.</p>
<p>
	According to NTB, a total of 77,300 tourists visited Nepal by air route and 14, 493 visited the country via land during the month of January.</p>
<p>
	The record of NTB shows that 14,650 Indian nationals visited Nepal during the review period. The number of the tourists arriving from India was recorded at 12,152 in January last year.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the report also shows rise in arrival of Chinese tourists. A total of 12,027 Chinese had visited Nepal in January last year which has slightly grown up to 13,688 this year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists from Thailand, the USA and South Korea has also increased. Altogether 8,442 Thai tourists visited Nepal in January this year while the number of American and South Korean tourists was 7,028 and 6,584 respectively.</p>

	Khagendra Rawat, chairperson of Chhededaha ward-7, informed RSS that the lightning caused damages to a Nepal Telecom tower based in the forest at Chhededaha.</p>
<p>
	With the damages to the tower and solar panels, the telecom service of the state-owned company has come to a complete halt in the area. There has been no telecom-facilitated connectivity in and around Aatichaur, Gudukhati and Dogadi areas for the past three days, RSS said. &nbsp;</p>
<p>
	The lightning has reportedly destroyed all 15 solar panels installed around the tower.</p>
<p>
	The disruption of telecom service has caused trouble to the local people for day-to-day communications.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Man Bahadur Rokaya, Information Officer at Bajura-based Nepal Telecom office, shared that the lightning has also triggered damages to another NTC tower at Kalajagra. It has obstructed all the services of Nepal Telecom at Kolti region. Rokaya informed that it may take couples of days to repair the tower as the location is fully covered with pileup of snow.</p>

	A tower of Subisu, an internet service provider company, was also partially damaged due to lightning.</p>

	A joint bench of the Special Court Chair Baburam Aryal and justices Pramod Kumar Shrestha and Narayan Prasad Pokharel handed down the order to his end, reported Rastriya Sasmachar Samiti (RSS). Khadka was released on a bank guarantee worth the amount from Nepal Investment Bank.</p>

	The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case of corruption against Khadka on January 7 accusing him of amassing property worth Rs 186.6 million through illegal means. It had also sought a prison sentence of two years along with confiscation of assets worth the amount and fine, according to RSS. &nbsp;</p>

	The CIAA had accused Khadka of concealing the property he gained by abusing his authority in the name of his spouse Sharmila Khadka and a woman named Anita Lama.</p>

	Gadkari made such remarks during a bilateral meeting in New Dehli on Tuesday with a Nepali delegation led by visiting Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun.</p>

	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the Indian side told the Nepali delegation that they can take maximum benefit from the waterways adding that the route up to Trivenighat would be linking Kolkata to Haldiya in India to Narayani River in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	Spokesperson of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Prabal Adhikari, who was present at the ministerial-level meeting, said that the two ministers held discussions on key issues regarding the ongoing progress taking place in water transportation.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Minister Pun and his Indian counterpart Gadkari also touched upon the issues to bring ship into operation that was discussed with the Indian leaders during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli&rsquo;s last India visit, reported RSS.</p>

	India is developing some 1,400 kms long waterways from Kolkata to Haldiya to Banaras.</p>

	February 14: With the celebration of &#39;Valentine&rsquo;s Day&#39; gaining popularity in Nepal, the demand for red roses has also shot up. However, Nepal itself has very small scale of production of the roses mostly used on Valentine&rsquo;s Day.</p>

	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), there are only a handful of farmers in Nepal who have been cultivating roses for commercial use. The state-run news agency reported that there is a vast gap between the demand and production of roses in the market.</p>
<p>
	Nevertheless, a youth farmer in Chitwan made a lucrative income from the sale of roses in view of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day, reported RSS.</p>
<p>
	According to Prakash Pant, a local of Bharatpur Metropolis-18, Gunjanagar, the rose business gave him a net profit of Rs 300,000.</p>
<p>
	Pant said that the plants cultivated in the month of April/May yield production from November.</p>
<p>
	There is a demand for 20,000 rose sticks in Chitwan on the occasion of Valentine&rsquo;s Day, said Pant, who is also the chair of Chitwan chapter of Floriculture Association of Nepal.</p>
<p>
	He has been supplying roses to major cities of Nepal, including Chitwan, Pokhara and Kathmandu.</p>

	Lawanya Kumar Dhakal, director general of DoTM, and Arvind Sah, managing director of Sparrow SMS, signed an agreement to this effect amid a recent ceremony organized at the DoTM head office in Minbhawan, Kathmandu.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the system, Dhakal expressed confidence that use of ICT will be very effective in informing license aspirants about the test results and license printing status.</p>
<p>
	The DoTM said in a statement that it had begun distribution of smart driving license from December 2015. The department has also recently started an online application process for driving license in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	The initiation of the SMS service for showing driving license results for written tests and driving license status is expected to benefit the service seekers who no longer have to visit the DoTM office to see the result and get the information for the license status.</p>
<p>
	The department expects the new service to end long queues in transportation offices for getting simple information. People can receive the information by sending SMS to 33001 for just Rs 5.</p>
<p>
	To check the result for the written test, service seekers will have to type &lsquo;WT &lt;space&gt; [Application ID number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001. Similarly, to check the printing status of smart driving license, service seekers have to type &lsquo;LC &lt;space&gt; [Application ID Number]&rsquo; and send it to 33001.</p>
<p>
	On an average, around 3,000 people apply for smart driving license on every working day, the department said.</p>

	The government aims to end unemployment by creating new jobs within the country in collaboration with the private and cooperative sectors in coordination among federal, provincial and local levels.</p>
<p>
	Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that the programme has been brought in line with Article 33 of the constitution which guarantees every Nepali the right to employment. It is also as per the Employment Rights Act 2075.</p>
<p>
	The programme is aimed at discouraging Nepalis to leave the country for foreign employment due to compulsion in the coming five years.</p>
<p>
	The government has announced a minimum of 100 days employment for unemployed youths in a year. Similarly, subsistence allowance would be provided to the families having no job holders.</p>
<p>
	Inaugurating the programme, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the government was moving ahead with clear policy and vision.</p>
<p>
	&quot;We want to change Nepal&#39;s identity. Nepal is not poor, but a prosperous country; not a least developed but a developed country,&quot; RSS quoted Oli as saying.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;He added that life insurance, social security allowance and agriculture modernization programmes were launched to ensure prosperity in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	From coming Falgun 1, the country will mark this day as &#39;employment day&#39;, he said.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, said the employment programme is for those who are unable to get minimum wage for livelihood.</p>

	&quot;It is not that every unemployed person will be given allowance,&quot; he made it clear.</p>

	According to a report unveiled by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 91,793 tourists visited Nepal in January this year where as only 73,187 foreigners had visited Nepal in the same period last year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists includes those arriving via land and air.</p>
<p>
	According to NTB, a total of 77,300 tourists visited Nepal by air route and 14, 493 visited the country via land during the month of January.</p>
<p>
	The record of NTB shows that 14,650 Indian nationals visited Nepal during the review period. The number of the tourists arriving from India was recorded at 12,152 in January last year.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the report also shows rise in arrival of Chinese tourists. A total of 12,027 Chinese had visited Nepal in January last year which has slightly grown up to 13,688 this year.</p>
<p>
	The number of tourists from Thailand, the USA and South Korea has also increased. Altogether 8,442 Thai tourists visited Nepal in January this year while the number of American and South Korean tourists was 7,028 and 6,584 respectively.</p>

	Khagendra Rawat, chairperson of Chhededaha ward-7, informed RSS that the lightning caused damages to a Nepal Telecom tower based in the forest at Chhededaha.</p>
<p>
	With the damages to the tower and solar panels, the telecom service of the state-owned company has come to a complete halt in the area. There has been no telecom-facilitated connectivity in and around Aatichaur, Gudukhati and Dogadi areas for the past three days, RSS said. &nbsp;</p>
<p>
	The lightning has reportedly destroyed all 15 solar panels installed around the tower.</p>
<p>
	The disruption of telecom service has caused trouble to the local people for day-to-day communications.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Man Bahadur Rokaya, Information Officer at Bajura-based Nepal Telecom office, shared that the lightning has also triggered damages to another NTC tower at Kalajagra. It has obstructed all the services of Nepal Telecom at Kolti region. Rokaya informed that it may take couples of days to repair the tower as the location is fully covered with pileup of snow.</p>

	A tower of Subisu, an internet service provider company, was also partially damaged due to lightning.</p>

	A joint bench of the Special Court Chair Baburam Aryal and justices Pramod Kumar Shrestha and Narayan Prasad Pokharel handed down the order to his end, reported Rastriya Sasmachar Samiti (RSS). Khadka was released on a bank guarantee worth the amount from Nepal Investment Bank.</p>

	The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case of corruption against Khadka on January 7 accusing him of amassing property worth Rs 186.6 million through illegal means. It had also sought a prison sentence of two years along with confiscation of assets worth the amount and fine, according to RSS. &nbsp;</p>

	The CIAA had accused Khadka of concealing the property he gained by abusing his authority in the name of his spouse Sharmila Khadka and a woman named Anita Lama.</p>

	February 13: Indian Minister for Water Resource, River Development and Gange Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari has reportedly said that India is expanding its inland waterways up to Trivenighat along the Nepal-India border within a year and urged the Nepal government to take maximum benefit out of it.</p>

	Gadkari made such remarks during a bilateral meeting in New Dehli on Tuesday with a Nepali delegation led by visiting Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun.</p>
<p>
	According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the Indian side told the Nepali delegation that they can take maximum benefit from the waterways adding that the route up to Trivenighat would be linking Kolkata to Haldiya in India to Narayani River in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	Spokesperson of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Prabal Adhikari, who was present at the ministerial-level meeting, said that the two ministers held discussions on key issues regarding the ongoing progress taking place in water transportation.</p>
<p>
	Likewise, Minister Pun and his Indian counterpart Gadkari also touched upon the issues to bring ship into operation that was discussed with the Indian leaders during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli&rsquo;s last India visit, reported RSS.</p>
<p>
	India is developing some 1,400 kms long waterways from Kolkata to Haldiya to Banaras.</p>
