April 7: Fascination for abroad studies is hugely increasing among Nepali students lately. The data at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) speaks volume about it.
On average, more than 600 aspirants apply for the No Objection Letter (NOC) required to pursue education in foreign countries.
A majority of the students have applied for Australia, Japan, Canada and the USA, according to the ministry’s Department that issues the NOC letter.
Out of 609 applications received by the Department last Thursday, 529 were approved and they will be granted the NOC letters today, informed Basudev Wasti, Under-Secretary at the Department.
More than 80,000 students have obtained the NOC from July 17 2022 to April 5, 2023. Keeping in mind increasing influx of service-seekers, the Department has launched online services.
As per the new system, the information provided by the applicants is verified and NOC letter is issued the next day.
The launch of the online service has for NOC letter has decreased the long queue in front of the department and service delivery has become prompt and swift, claimed the department. ---RSS
