Two-year Labour Permit Provision For Foreign Employment Removed

March 16: The government has removed a two-year labour permit provision for foreign employment.
The provision was removed by a Prime-Ministerial decision, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

A new provision has been made to issue labour permit on the basis of contract permit to work in the destination country and on the basis of the contract signed between the employers and workers.

Earlier, the government had been issuing two-year work permit to all individuals going for overseas employment. The government has made arrangement to provide re-labour permit from Nepali diplomatic missions in destination countries, said Spokesperson at the Ministry, Danduraj Ghimire.

Nepali migrant workers in the destination countries had to face many problems for lack of effective implementation of re-labour permit provision.
