April 10: The Foreign Employment Office, Kathmandu has decided to issue institutional labour permits for foreign employment only through online system.
Ramesh Aryal, chief of the Tahachal-based Foreign Employment Office, informed that such permits will be issued only through online system from April 15 onwards.
The office has been providing services for renewal of labour permits as well as issuing institutional and personal labour permits.
Institutional labour permits are issued to aspiring migrant workers through manpower companies or their representatives. From now on, the manpower companies do not need to send their representatives personally to the Foreign Employment Office to acquire permits.
The office has been renewing labour permits through online system since the last two months. More than 1000 service seekers have been benefitting from this new provision each day ever since the online system was launched. They have been able to renew their labour permits without visiting the office in person.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has started online service for issuing labour permits to make the process faceless, paperless and cashless.
Labour Minister Krishna Kumar Shrestha informed that the ministry has initiated online process for issuing labour permits to facilitate the aspiring migrant workers.
