<p style="text-align: justify;">The conference is going to be jointly organised by the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Hangzhou Regional Centre for Small Hydropower (HRC).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The conference titled &#39;Small Hydropower Development Planning for South Asian Countries&#39; is being participated by all the SAARC countries except the Maldives as well as China, in the conference.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to NAST, there are 19 representatives from the hydropower sector outside the country and 11 representatives from Nepal.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The event is held in a bid to explore the possibility of Chinese financial and technical support in small hydropower projects in South Asian countries. In addition to that, the participants will also share their experiences in the sector during the event with a purpose to learn from each other.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking in the inauguration program, Energy Minister Janardan Sharma said that the seminar is expected to be helpful in producing technical human resources, enhancing their capacity and searching for fresh human resources required for the development of small scale hydropower projects.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In a programme organised by the Embassy of India in Nepal titled &#39;The Symposium on FDI in Nepal: Sharing Experiences&#39; in the capital on March 27, the participants highlighted the need of support in policy and administrative levels in order to attract FDI in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the event, Maha Prasad Adhikari, CEO of Investment Board Nepal (IBN), mentioned about the success of the Investment Summit- 2017 held in Kathmandu on March 2- 3.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;It is necessary to address the policy level, legal and procedural challenges in the system as discussed in the summit in order to attract FDIs,&quot; Adhikari shared. &nbsp;He further noted that it is a challenging task to materialize investments as one time investment only is not enough for many mega projects such as metro train and international airports. &quot;Therefore, there should be long term policies for attracting big investments in the country,&quot; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the programme, Industry Secretary Shankar Prasad Koirala said that the government started reforming the policies prior to the summit with an aim to bring investments in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;Also, the facility of online registration which has been provided by the Department of Industry and the Office of the Company Registrar has also eased the procedures,&quot; Koirala shared. He further said that the Ministry has been preparing to bring one stop service center so that all the registration works can be done at one place.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;Foreign investment inflow would be eased if the government implements one-window policy effectively,&quot; said Abhimanyu Poddar, Managing Director of Surya Nepal.&nbsp;&nbsp; He further expressed the view that there are hassles now for the entrepreneurs and investors to submit the same proposals to different departments, which is quite unnecessary.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Stating that there are problems in every country while doing business, Minister Joshi said that Nepal has been focusing on economic development in recent years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to him, India is not only a neighboring country of Nepal, but in fact it is an important partner in Nepal&#39;s international trade.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Many Indian companies are generating profit from Nepal, said Minister&nbsp; &nbsp;Joshi, and mentioned that Nepal is working on reforming various laws and policies. He also informed that Industrial Enterprises Act, SEZ (Special Economic Zone) Act and Company Act have already been amended.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;The cabinet has already approved the Intellectual Property Act,&quot; he said and informed that the ministry has been working on draft of the bill to amend the Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act (FITTA).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Stating that all the companies operated with foreign investment in Nepal are in profit, he said that the market for products manufactured in Nepal is not only within the country but also in our big neighbours India and China.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In a programme organised by the Embassy of India in Nepal titled &#39;The Symposium on FDI in Nepal: Sharing Experiences&#39; in the capital on March 27, the participants highlighted the need of support in policy and administrative levels in order to attract FDI in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the event, Maha Prasad Adhikari, CEO of Investment Board Nepal (IBN), mentioned about the success of the Investment Summit- 2017 held in Kathmandu on March 2- 3.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;It is necessary to address the policy level, legal and procedural challenges in the system as discussed in the summit in order to attract FDIs,&quot; Adhikari shared. &nbsp;He further noted that it is a challenging task to materialize investments as one time investment only is not enough for many mega projects such as metro train and international airports. &quot;Therefore, there should be long term policies for attracting big investments in the country,&quot; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the programme, Industry Secretary Shankar Prasad Koirala said that the government started reforming the policies prior to the summit with an aim to bring investments in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;Also, the facility of online registration which has been provided by the Department of Industry and the Office of the Company Registrar has also eased the procedures,&quot; Koirala shared. He further said that the Ministry has been preparing to bring one stop service center so that all the registration works can be done at one place.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;Foreign investment inflow would be eased if the government implements one-window policy effectively,&quot; said Abhimanyu Poddar, Managing Director of Surya Nepal.&nbsp;&nbsp; He further expressed the view that there are hassles now for the entrepreneurs and investors to submit the same proposals to different departments, which is quite unnecessary.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to him, India is not only a neighboring country of Nepal, but in fact it is an important partner in Nepal&#39;s international trade.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Many Indian companies are generating profit from Nepal, said Minister&nbsp; &nbsp;Joshi, and mentioned that Nepal is working on reforming various laws and policies. He also informed that Industrial Enterprises Act, SEZ (Special Economic Zone) Act and Company Act have already been amended.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;The cabinet has already approved the Intellectual Property Act,&quot; he said and informed that the ministry has been working on draft of the bill to amend the Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act (FITTA).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Stating that all the companies operated with foreign investment in Nepal are in profit, he said that the market for products manufactured in Nepal is not only within the country but also in our big neighbours India and China.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;The government is very much conscious in order to ensure fewer challenges for the investors,&quot; Joshi informed. He said that thinking negatively can lead to negative consequences. Joshi argued that the government efforts to create an investment-friendly environment should be taken positively.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Managing Director Nirvana, the company will further invest Rs 250 million for the production of Rio Juice, a soft drink and other products.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the company shared that it will invest Rs 8.5 billion in cement industry with under construction clinker plant in Palpa district of western Nepal.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Chaudhary Group has already prepared to invest Rs 2.8 billion in Madhyamodi Hydropower project with a capacity of 15.1 megawatts of electricity. Likewise, the company will invest Rs 7.5 billion in Super Madi Hydropower project having a capacity of 44 megawatts.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The conference titled &#39;Small Hydropower Development Planning for South Asian Countries&#39; is being participated by all the SAARC countries except the Maldives as well as China, in the conference.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to NAST, there are 19 representatives from the hydropower sector outside the country and 11 representatives from Nepal.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The event is held in a bid to explore the possibility of Chinese financial and technical support in small hydropower projects in South Asian countries. In addition to that, the participants will also share their experiences in the sector during the event with a purpose to learn from each other.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking in the inauguration program, Energy Minister Janardan Sharma said that the seminar is expected to be helpful in producing technical human resources, enhancing their capacity and searching for fresh human resources required for the development of small scale hydropower projects.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the event, Maha Prasad Adhikari, CEO of Investment Board Nepal (IBN), mentioned about the success of the Investment Summit- 2017 held in Kathmandu on March 2- 3.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;It is necessary to address the policy level, legal and procedural challenges in the system as discussed in the summit in order to attract FDIs,&quot; Adhikari shared. &nbsp;He further noted that it is a challenging task to materialize investments as one time investment only is not enough for many mega projects such as metro train and international airports. &quot;Therefore, there should be long term policies for attracting big investments in the country,&quot; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the programme, Industry Secretary Shankar Prasad Koirala said that the government started reforming the policies prior to the summit with an aim to bring investments in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;Also, the facility of online registration which has been provided by the Department of Industry and the Office of the Company Registrar has also eased the procedures,&quot; Koirala shared. He further said that the Ministry has been preparing to bring one stop service center so that all the registration works can be done at one place.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;Foreign investment inflow would be eased if the government implements one-window policy effectively,&quot; said Abhimanyu Poddar, Managing Director of Surya Nepal.&nbsp;&nbsp; He further expressed the view that there are hassles now for the entrepreneurs and investors to submit the same proposals to different departments, which is quite unnecessary.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to him, India is not only a neighboring country of Nepal, but in fact it is an important partner in Nepal&#39;s international trade.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Many Indian companies are generating profit from Nepal, said Minister&nbsp; &nbsp;Joshi, and mentioned that Nepal is working on reforming various laws and policies. He also informed that Industrial Enterprises Act, SEZ (Special Economic Zone) Act and Company Act have already been amended.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;The cabinet has already approved the Intellectual Property Act,&quot; he said and informed that the ministry has been working on draft of the bill to amend the Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act (FITTA).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Stating that all the companies operated with foreign investment in Nepal are in profit, he said that the market for products manufactured in Nepal is not only within the country but also in our big neighbours India and China.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&quot;The government is very much conscious in order to ensure fewer challenges for the investors,&quot; Joshi informed. He said that thinking negatively can lead to negative consequences. Joshi argued that the government efforts to create an investment-friendly environment should be taken positively.</p>

He informed that the company will invest Rs 500 million to establish another Wai-Wai plant in Sunsari district of eastern Nepal.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Managing Director Nirvana, the company will further invest Rs 250 million for the production of Rio Juice, a soft drink and other products.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">He also informed that they will invest an additional Rs one billion in beverage products such as - Nepal Ice.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the company shared that it will invest Rs 8.5 billion in cement industry with under construction clinker plant in Palpa district of western Nepal.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Chaudhary Group has already prepared to invest Rs 2.8 billion in Madhyamodi Hydropower project with a capacity of 15.1 megawatts of electricity. Likewise, the company will invest Rs 7.5 billion in Super Madi Hydropower project having a capacity of 44 megawatts.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;Chairman and Nepali billionaire Binod Chaudhary, who is listed in the &lsquo;Forbes&rsquo; list of billionaires holds the view that 50 percent of property valued by Forbes should remain in Nepal itself.</p>
