The import has increased by 23.57 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year, according to date provided by the Department of Customs. In fiscal year 2016/17, the country had imported goods worth Rs 70 billion in the first one month.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export has decreased in the review period. Nepal&rsquo;s export in the first month of the current fiscal year was Rs 6.70 billion. This is 3.5 percent less than the export during the corresponding period of last fiscal year. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 7 billion in the last fiscal year.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the review period, Nepal&rsquo;s trade deficit has reached 80 billion with a 26.5 percent increase, as per the data provided by the Department of Customs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Out of the total transaction of Rs 93 billion in the first month of this FY, Nepal faced a trade deficit mainly due to the import of petroleum products and iron rods.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Petroleum products worth Rs 9.91 billion and iron rods worth Rs 12 billion were imported during the review period.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export of goods has been negligible as compared to the import. Nepal exported tea worth Rs 720 million and carpet worth Rs 600 million.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Experts have said that the increase in import and decrease in export has had negative impact on the economy of the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export Council of Nepal&rsquo;s President Surendra Kumar Shrestha said that foreign trade imbalance is rising due to internal problems like hurdles in export, energy crisis, political instability among other issues. &nbsp;</p>

Besides, insurance service and auto loan are also available at the show.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Altogether 90 companies have installed 130 stalls during the auto show which will conclude on Sunday, September 3.</p>

<p>Deputy Governor of NRB Shiba Raj Shrestha informed this during a webinar meeting on &lsquo;Exploring Nepal&rsquo;s Economic Transformation &ndash; Seizing Investment&rsquo; organized in the capital by Frost &amp; Sullivan on August 30.</p>

<p>Shrestha also highlighted the need of establishing robust financial infrastructure and policy changes to facilitate the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI).</p>

<p>&ldquo;We hope that recent reforms in FDI policies will be instrumental in promoting investment-friendly environment in Nepal,&rdquo; he mentioned.</p>

<p>Similarly, Anuj Agrawal, vice-president of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) commented that Nepal falls under one of the best countries for FDI. According to him, the domestic investment is also booming which is a very positive sign from economic perspective. &ldquo;We need better marketing to highlight the feasibility and potential of our market,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>The discussion also focused on One Belt One Road (OBOR) project, an initiative takeb China to connect 65 countries linking them through a network of transport infrastructure and industrial parks. Likewise, the webinar highlighted the importance of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN)&rsquo;s Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA) which will entail investment in integrated border check posts allowing member countries to seamlessly pass country borders through electronically tracked vehicles and permits issued online. This will provide larger market access to the industries.</p>

<p>Prerna Mohan, associate director of strategic planning and implantation, emerging market innovation at Frost &amp; Sullivan; Dipendra Nath Sharma, secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) along with Shrestha and Agrawal expressed their views during the program.</p>

<p>The discussion also explored the reasons why Nepal has not been able to export its agricultural products despite its huge potential.</p>

<p>According to Suraj Vaidya, former president of FNCCI (federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Nepal has not been able to export enough products due to lack of proper marketing techniques.</p>

<p>He also shared that Nepali products have been falling behind due to their poor packaging. &ldquo;Our farmers are hard working but where we miss out is the packaging. Giving good and innovative ideas about packaging is very important. As packaging is one of the major factors to attract consumers, now it is high time to focus on this issue,&rdquo; he shared. He suggested to go for public-private partnership for commercial and export-based farming.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The geography and climate of Nepal is highly favorable for agriculture in comparison to many other countries. So, this really needs to be internalised to utilise the opportunity well. But the agricultural products getting good market abroad, when it comes to competing with the products from Africa and India, is very challenging for us,&rdquo; shared Basanti Pradhan, a member of Federation of Women Entrepreneurs&rsquo; Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and the CEO of BodhiBriksha Nursery.</p>

<p>Similarly, Birendra Basnet, managing director of Buddha Air, shared his view that Nepali farmers are not utilising the barren lands properly. Instead of farming regularly, they leave the lands fallow, he said. &ldquo;The entrepreneurs should make the farmers aware on these issues and take such lands in lease for commercial farming,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Likewise, Mausami Shrestha, business development director of Shreenagar Farming,&nbsp; shared that they have been working to enhance the potential of farmers to produce global agricultural products at the local market.&nbsp; &ldquo;Braindrain is a major problem in every sector of Nepal and it exits in the agricultural sector as well.&nbsp; So, to keep and attract the potential human resources and youths in the agricultural sector of Nepal, the government, non-governmental organisations and the private sector should focus on bringing new technologies in this sector.</p>

<p>According to Micheal C Gonzales, deputy chief of the US Mission in Nepal shared that USAID has been funding many projects to improve the agriculture system. These projects related to farmers, fertilisers and many other aspects of farming have been helping to enhance the potential of farmers and find them market, he shared.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The expo &lsquo;Farm to Table&rsquo; is a result of those projects of USAID.&nbsp; Various local agricultural products including pulses, rice and vegetables were displayed during the event.</p>

The import has increased by 23.57 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year, according to date provided by the Department of Customs. In fiscal year 2016/17, the country had imported goods worth Rs 70 billion in the first one month.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export has decreased in the review period. Nepal&rsquo;s export in the first month of the current fiscal year was Rs 6.70 billion. This is 3.5 percent less than the export during the corresponding period of last fiscal year. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 7 billion in the last fiscal year.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the review period, Nepal&rsquo;s trade deficit has reached 80 billion with a 26.5 percent increase, as per the data provided by the Department of Customs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Out of the total transaction of Rs 93 billion in the first month of this FY, Nepal faced a trade deficit mainly due to the import of petroleum products and iron rods.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Petroleum products worth Rs 9.91 billion and iron rods worth Rs 12 billion were imported during the review period.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export of goods has been negligible as compared to the import. Nepal exported tea worth Rs 720 million and carpet worth Rs 600 million.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Experts have said that the increase in import and decrease in export has had negative impact on the economy of the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export Council of Nepal&rsquo;s President Surendra Kumar Shrestha said that foreign trade imbalance is rising due to internal problems like hurdles in export, energy crisis, political instability among other issues. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">A total of 15,000 people have visited the stalls of the six-day auto show organized jointly by Nepal Automobiles Dealers Association (NADA) and Global Exposition and Management Service, informed NADA&rsquo;s General Secretary Krishna Dulal.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">He informed that there has been more bookings this year as compared to the last year.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Besides displaying vehicles of renowned brands, the auto show also features new technologies, vehicle security gadgets, spare parts, lubricants, tyres, garage tools, batteries as well as other accessories. Besides, insurance service and auto loan are also available at the show.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Altogether 90 companies have installed 130 stalls during the auto show which will conclude on Sunday, September 3.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The visitors can win a 230 cc UM Commando bike as bumper prize from the entrance ticket.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Deputy Governor of NRB Shiba Raj Shrestha informed this during a webinar meeting on &lsquo;Exploring Nepal&rsquo;s Economic Transformation &ndash; Seizing Investment&rsquo; organized in the capital by Frost &amp; Sullivan on August 30.</p>

<p>Shrestha also highlighted the need of establishing robust financial infrastructure and policy changes to facilitate the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI).</p>

<p>&ldquo;We hope that recent reforms in FDI policies will be instrumental in promoting investment-friendly environment in Nepal,&rdquo; he mentioned.</p>

<p>Similarly, Anuj Agrawal, vice-president of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) commented that Nepal falls under one of the best countries for FDI. According to him, the domestic investment is also booming which is a very positive sign from economic perspective. &ldquo;We need better marketing to highlight the feasibility and potential of our market,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>The discussion also focused on One Belt One Road (OBOR) project, an initiative takeb China to connect 65 countries linking them through a network of transport infrastructure and industrial parks. Likewise, the webinar highlighted the importance of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN)&rsquo;s Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA) which will entail investment in integrated border check posts allowing member countries to seamlessly pass country borders through electronically tracked vehicles and permits issued online. This will provide larger market access to the industries.</p>

<p>Prerna Mohan, associate director of strategic planning and implantation, emerging market innovation at Frost &amp; Sullivan; Dipendra Nath Sharma, secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) along with Shrestha and Agrawal expressed their views during the program.</p>

<p>The discussion also explored the reasons why Nepal has not been able to export its agricultural products despite its huge potential.</p>

<p>According to Suraj Vaidya, former president of FNCCI (federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Nepal has not been able to export enough products due to lack of proper marketing techniques.</p>

<p>He also shared that Nepali products have been falling behind due to their poor packaging. &ldquo;Our farmers are hard working but where we miss out is the packaging. Giving good and innovative ideas about packaging is very important. As packaging is one of the major factors to attract consumers, now it is high time to focus on this issue,&rdquo; he shared. He suggested to go for public-private partnership for commercial and export-based farming.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The geography and climate of Nepal is highly favorable for agriculture in comparison to many other countries. So, this really needs to be internalised to utilise the opportunity well. But the agricultural products getting good market abroad, when it comes to competing with the products from Africa and India, is very challenging for us,&rdquo; shared Basanti Pradhan, a member of Federation of Women Entrepreneurs&rsquo; Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and the CEO of BodhiBriksha Nursery.</p>

<p>Similarly, Birendra Basnet, managing director of Buddha Air, shared his view that Nepali farmers are not utilising the barren lands properly. Instead of farming regularly, they leave the lands fallow, he said. &ldquo;The entrepreneurs should make the farmers aware on these issues and take such lands in lease for commercial farming,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Likewise, Mausami Shrestha, business development director of Shreenagar Farming,&nbsp; shared that they have been working to enhance the potential of farmers to produce global agricultural products at the local market.&nbsp; &ldquo;Braindrain is a major problem in every sector of Nepal and it exits in the agricultural sector as well.&nbsp; So, to keep and attract the potential human resources and youths in the agricultural sector of Nepal, the government, non-governmental organisations and the private sector should focus on bringing new technologies in this sector.</p>

<p>According to Micheal C Gonzales, deputy chief of the US Mission in Nepal shared that USAID has been funding many projects to improve the agriculture system. These projects related to farmers, fertilisers and many other aspects of farming have been helping to enhance the potential of farmers and find them market, he shared.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The expo &lsquo;Farm to Table&rsquo; is a result of those projects of USAID.&nbsp; Various local agricultural products including pulses, rice and vegetables were displayed during the event.</p>

The import has increased by 23.57 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year, according to date provided by the Department of Customs. In fiscal year 2016/17, the country had imported goods worth Rs 70 billion in the first one month.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export has decreased in the review period. Nepal&rsquo;s export in the first month of the current fiscal year was Rs 6.70 billion. This is 3.5 percent less than the export during the corresponding period of last fiscal year. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 7 billion in the last fiscal year.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the review period, Nepal&rsquo;s trade deficit has reached 80 billion with a 26.5 percent increase, as per the data provided by the Department of Customs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Out of the total transaction of Rs 93 billion in the first month of this FY, Nepal faced a trade deficit mainly due to the import of petroleum products and iron rods.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Petroleum products worth Rs 9.91 billion and iron rods worth Rs 12 billion were imported during the review period.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export of goods has been negligible as compared to the import. Nepal exported tea worth Rs 720 million and carpet worth Rs 600 million.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Experts have said that the increase in import and decrease in export has had negative impact on the economy of the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export Council of Nepal&rsquo;s President Surendra Kumar Shrestha said that foreign trade imbalance is rising due to internal problems like hurdles in export, energy crisis, political instability among other issues. &nbsp;</p>

Likewise, the webinar highlighted the importance of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN)&rsquo;s Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA) which will entail investment in integrated border check posts allowing member countries to seamlessly pass country borders through electronically tracked vehicles and permits issued online. This will provide larger market access to the industries.</p>

<p>The discussion also explored the reasons why Nepal has not been able to export its agricultural products despite its huge potential.</p>

<p>According to Suraj Vaidya, former president of FNCCI (federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Nepal has not been able to export enough products due to lack of proper marketing techniques.</p>

<p>He also shared that Nepali products have been falling behind due to their poor packaging. &ldquo;Our farmers are hard working but where we miss out is the packaging. Giving good and innovative ideas about packaging is very important. As packaging is one of the major factors to attract consumers, now it is high time to focus on this issue,&rdquo; he shared. He suggested to go for public-private partnership for commercial and export-based farming.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The geography and climate of Nepal is highly favorable for agriculture in comparison to many other countries. So, this really needs to be internalised to utilise the opportunity well. But the agricultural products getting good market abroad, when it comes to competing with the products from Africa and India, is very challenging for us,&rdquo; shared Basanti Pradhan, a member of Federation of Women Entrepreneurs&rsquo; Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and the CEO of BodhiBriksha Nursery.</p>

<p>Similarly, Birendra Basnet, managing director of Buddha Air, shared his view that Nepali farmers are not utilising the barren lands properly. Instead of farming regularly, they leave the lands fallow, he said. &ldquo;The entrepreneurs should make the farmers aware on these issues and take such lands in lease for commercial farming,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Likewise, Mausami Shrestha, business development director of Shreenagar Farming,&nbsp; shared that they have been working to enhance the potential of farmers to produce global agricultural products at the local market.&nbsp; &ldquo;Braindrain is a major problem in every sector of Nepal and it exits in the agricultural sector as well.&nbsp; So, to keep and attract the potential human resources and youths in the agricultural sector of Nepal, the government, non-governmental organisations and the private sector should focus on bringing new technologies in this sector.</p>

<p>According to Micheal C Gonzales, deputy chief of the US Mission in Nepal shared that USAID has been funding many projects to improve the agriculture system. These projects related to farmers, fertilisers and many other aspects of farming have been helping to enhance the potential of farmers and find them market, he shared.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The expo &lsquo;Farm to Table&rsquo; is a result of those projects of USAID.&nbsp; Various local agricultural products including pulses, rice and vegetables were displayed during the event.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the review period, Nepal&rsquo;s trade deficit has reached 80 billion with a 26.5 percent increase, as per the data provided by the Department of Customs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Out of the total transaction of Rs 93 billion in the first month of this FY, Nepal faced a trade deficit mainly due to the import of petroleum products and iron rods.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Petroleum products worth Rs 9.91 billion and iron rods worth Rs 12 billion were imported during the review period.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export of goods has been negligible as compared to the import. Nepal exported tea worth Rs 720 million and carpet worth Rs 600 million.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Experts have said that the increase in import and decrease in export has had negative impact on the economy of the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Export Council of Nepal&rsquo;s President Surendra Kumar Shrestha said that foreign trade imbalance is rising due to internal problems like hurdles in export, energy crisis, political instability among other issues. &nbsp;</p>

According to him, the domestic investment is also booming which is a very positive sign from economic perspective. &ldquo;We need better marketing to highlight the feasibility and potential of our market,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>The discussion also focused on One Belt One Road (OBOR) project, an initiative takeb China to connect 65 countries linking them through a network of transport infrastructure and industrial parks. Likewise, the webinar highlighted the importance of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN)&rsquo;s Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA) which will entail investment in integrated border check posts allowing member countries to seamlessly pass country borders through electronically tracked vehicles and permits issued online. This will provide larger market access to the industries.</p>

<p>He also shared that Nepali products have been falling behind due to their poor packaging. &ldquo;Our farmers are hard working but where we miss out is the packaging. Giving good and innovative ideas about packaging is very important. As packaging is one of the major factors to attract consumers, now it is high time to focus on this issue,&rdquo; he shared. He suggested to go for public-private partnership for commercial and export-based farming.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The geography and climate of Nepal is highly favorable for agriculture in comparison to many other countries. So, this really needs to be internalised to utilise the opportunity well. But the agricultural products getting good market abroad, when it comes to competing with the products from Africa and India, is very challenging for us,&rdquo; shared Basanti Pradhan, a member of Federation of Women Entrepreneurs&rsquo; Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and the CEO of BodhiBriksha Nursery.</p>

<p>Similarly, Birendra Basnet, managing director of Buddha Air, shared his view that Nepali farmers are not utilising the barren lands properly. Instead of farming regularly, they leave the lands fallow, he said. &ldquo;The entrepreneurs should make the farmers aware on these issues and take such lands in lease for commercial farming,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Likewise, Mausami Shrestha, business development director of Shreenagar Farming,&nbsp; shared that they have been working to enhance the potential of farmers to produce global agricultural products at the local market.&nbsp; &ldquo;Braindrain is a major problem in every sector of Nepal and it exits in the agricultural sector as well.&nbsp; So, to keep and attract the potential human resources and youths in the agricultural sector of Nepal, the government, non-governmental organisations and the private sector should focus on bringing new technologies in this sector.</p>

<p>According to Micheal C Gonzales, deputy chief of the US Mission in Nepal shared that USAID has been funding many projects to improve the agriculture system. These projects related to farmers, fertilisers and many other aspects of farming have been helping to enhance the potential of farmers and find them market, he shared.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The expo &lsquo;Farm to Table&rsquo; is a result of those projects of USAID.&nbsp; Various local agricultural products including pulses, rice and vegetables were displayed during the event.</p>

<p>The well-established Pleasure scooter has gained strong customer traction over the years. Hero MotoCorp informed that it has introduced the &lsquo;<strong>Pleasure&rsquo;</strong> scooter in a brand new Avatar for the women riders in Nepal.</p>

<p>The ultra-stylish new Pleasure offers an optimum performance with a powerful BS-IV compliant 102 cc engine.&nbsp; The air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder OHC engine produces a maximum power output of 6.9 BHP (5.15 kW) @ 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 8.1 Nm @5000 rpm.</p>

<p>The youthful new scooter comes with a host of attractive features, such as all time headlamp on (AHO) feature to offer superior safety, mobile charging port, side stand indicator and boot light for added convenience and the Hero-patented &lsquo;integrated braking system&rsquo; for riding comfort and improved stability.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The new Pleasure comes with stunning new body graphics and three new vibrant color schemes - fiery red, matte grey, matte grey and white.</p>

<p>The new Pleasure will be available across Hero dealerships with a starting price of Rs 165,500.</p>

<p>Some of the features of the new model include innovative safety systems, comfort, powerful engine. The new Skoda Superb is powered by a new 2.0TDI/130kW (177PS) engine.</p>

<p>According to the company, the third-generation Superb is more powerful than ever and yet it is up to 30 per cent more economic thanks to the new and efficient engines and improved aerodynamics.</p>

<p>The company informed that the new Superb is available in four colours: candy white, brilliant silver, magnetic brown, and business grey. The price of Skoda Superb in Nepal is Rs 11.6 million.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;The new Superb is a strong proof that the brand is expert in design and engineering. It offers unmatched technology, safety standards and unbeatable comfort and space,&rdquo; said Suraj Manandhar, chief general manager at Skoda MAW, adding, &ldquo;We have always assured our customers of high degree of functionality, reliability and excellent value for money. The new Superb also features these qualities.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Skoda MAW has announced warranty over the period of four years or up to 100,000 kilometers (whichever comes first) for Skoda Superb. Skoda Superb is awarded with a number of reputed titles like NDTV Car of the year 2017, Premium Sedan of the year 2017, Auto Express Family Car of the year 2017, Executive Sedan of the Year 2017 etc.</p>

<p>The new Superb&rsquo;s completely redeveloped chassis with MacPherson front struts and multi-link rear axle offers maximum ride stability in challenging situations, reads a press statement issued by the company.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The new Superb is fitted with standard electronic stability control system including multi-collision brake, electronic tyre pressure monitoring, eight airbags, five three-point seat belts with fastening alerts as well as safety headrests,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The car also features XDS+, an enhanced function of the electronic differential lock.</p>

<p>According to Skoda MAW, the Innovative lighting systems fitted with bi-xenon lamps including AFS function and LED daytime running lights significantly increase safety at night.</p>

<p>The boot capacity is a record in the segment at 625 liters. The car has a rear-view camera while the classic handbrake has been replaced with an auto held electromechanical parking brake.</p>
