They argued that although the government has shortened the process of obtaining license, it has not been practically implemented.</p>

<p>IPPAN members expressed such views during a programme organized by the Society of Economic Journalist of Nepal (SEJON) on March 23 in the capital. As per the new provisions, the companies seeking to obtain license for generating electricity have to wait for 30 days for survey and an additional 120 days for power generation.</p>

<p>According to Khadga Bahadur Bista, outgoing president of IPPAN, the government has not made it clear whether the time period includes public holidays or not. &ldquo;As compare to the past, the permission process has been shortened. But the process still takes time as the authorities seek relevant documents,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Similarly, policy-wise it is difficult to provide license to the projects unless they submit required documents, mentions Babu Raj Adhikari, spokesperson at the Department of Electricity Development. &ldquo;There is no problem in giving permission for survey,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;But to grant permission for electricity generation, the companies must be registered and have obtained connection agreement from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which takes time.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NEA works to connect the generated electricity from hydropower projects to the national grid. NEA signs connection agreement with the project only if it has plans to extend the national grid in the project area. Adhikari informed that the permission for construction of hydropower projects by private sector gets halted if the NEA does not have any plan to construct national grid in the project area.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The journey to finding potential startups for the team was not just about getting the right companies but it was more about spreading entrepreneurial vibes among youngsters,&rdquo; said Binay Devkota, CEO of Clock B Business Innovations.</p>

<p>The experts speaking at the program said that Nepal has immense opportunities for the startups to grow, but the lack of intellectual property rights is a major setback for the startup community to grow in the market.</p>

He claimed that &nbsp;the ministry is making plans for economic prosperity and encouraging private investment. &ldquo;We will not compromise in maintaining good governance,&rdquo; he claimed.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Oli said cottage and small-scale industries is&nbsp;one of the major sectors creating investment and employment opportunities. He ensured that no one will be dying of hunger in the coming days.</p>

<p>Yam Kumari Khatiwada, secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies highlighted the importance of promoting cottage and small-scale industries. &nbsp;She added that the government is aiming to establish product specific zones by bringing together scattered products and industries.</p>

<p>The expo features 292 stalls of various entrepreneurs from all 77 districts of the nation. The expo which displays national products including food, traditional as well as modern technologies, wood crafts, handicrafts, garments, regional as well as cultural products was observed by a large number of the visitors from the first day, informed the organisers.</p>

<p>IPPAN members expressed such views during a programme organized by the Society of Economic Journalist of Nepal (SEJON) on March 23 in the capital. As per the new provisions, the companies seeking to obtain license for generating electricity have to wait for 30 days for survey and an additional 120 days for power generation.</p>

<p>According to Khadga Bahadur Bista, outgoing president of IPPAN, the government has not made it clear whether the time period includes public holidays or not. &ldquo;As compare to the past, the permission process has been shortened. But the process still takes time as the authorities seek relevant documents,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Similarly, policy-wise it is difficult to provide license to the projects unless they submit required documents, mentions Babu Raj Adhikari, spokesperson at the Department of Electricity Development. &ldquo;There is no problem in giving permission for survey,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;But to grant permission for electricity generation, the companies must be registered and have obtained connection agreement from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which takes time.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NEA works to connect the generated electricity from hydropower projects to the national grid. NEA signs connection agreement with the project only if it has plans to extend the national grid in the project area. Adhikari informed that the permission for construction of hydropower projects by private sector gets halted if the NEA does not have any plan to construct national grid in the project area.</p>

<p>Five startup firms also pitched their business ideas in front of the investors during the event. The firms to pith business idea were Metro Tarkari, Furniture Hub, Kullabs, My Earth Eco Bags and FohorbataMohor.&nbsp; The five startups were shortlisted out of more than 100 applications received for pitching proposals.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The journey to finding potential startups for the team was not just about getting the right companies but it was more about spreading entrepreneurial vibes among youngsters,&rdquo; said Binay Devkota, CEO of Clock B Business Innovations.</p>

<p>The experts speaking at the program said that Nepal has immense opportunities for the startups to grow, but the lack of intellectual property rights is a major setback for the startup community to grow in the market.</p>

<p>Yam Kumari Khatiwada, secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies highlighted the importance of promoting cottage and small-scale industries. &nbsp;She added that the government is aiming to establish product specific zones by bringing together scattered products and industries.</p>

<p>The expo features 292 stalls of various entrepreneurs from all 77 districts of the nation. The expo which displays national products including food, traditional as well as modern technologies, wood crafts, handicrafts, garments, regional as well as cultural products was observed by a large number of the visitors from the first day, informed the organisers.</p>

<p>IPPAN members expressed such views during a programme organized by the Society of Economic Journalist of Nepal (SEJON) on March 23 in the capital. As per the new provisions, the companies seeking to obtain license for generating electricity have to wait for 30 days for survey and an additional 120 days for power generation.</p>

<p>According to Khadga Bahadur Bista, outgoing president of IPPAN, the government has not made it clear whether the time period includes public holidays or not. &ldquo;As compare to the past, the permission process has been shortened. But the process still takes time as the authorities seek relevant documents,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Similarly, policy-wise it is difficult to provide license to the projects unless they submit required documents, mentions Babu Raj Adhikari, spokesperson at the Department of Electricity Development. &ldquo;There is no problem in giving permission for survey,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;But to grant permission for electricity generation, the companies must be registered and have obtained connection agreement from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which takes time.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NEA works to connect the generated electricity from hydropower projects to the national grid. NEA signs connection agreement with the project only if it has plans to extend the national grid in the project area. Adhikari informed that the permission for construction of hydropower projects by private sector gets halted if the NEA does not have any plan to construct national grid in the project area.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The journey to finding potential startups for the team was not just about getting the right companies but it was more about spreading entrepreneurial vibes among youngsters,&rdquo; said Binay Devkota, CEO of Clock B Business Innovations.</p>

<p>The experts speaking at the program said that Nepal has immense opportunities for the startups to grow, but the lack of intellectual property rights is a major setback for the startup community to grow in the market.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Oli said cottage and small-scale industries is&nbsp;one of the major sectors creating investment and employment opportunities. He ensured that no one will be dying of hunger in the coming days.</p>

<p>Yam Kumari Khatiwada, secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies highlighted the importance of promoting cottage and small-scale industries. &nbsp;She added that the government is aiming to establish product specific zones by bringing together scattered products and industries.</p>

<p>The expo features 292 stalls of various entrepreneurs from all 77 districts of the nation. The expo which displays national products including food, traditional as well as modern technologies, wood crafts, handicrafts, garments, regional as well as cultural products was observed by a large number of the visitors from the first day, informed the organisers.</p>

As per the new provisions, the companies seeking to obtain license for generating electricity have to wait for 30 days for survey and an additional 120 days for power generation.</p>

<p>According to Khadga Bahadur Bista, outgoing president of IPPAN, the government has not made it clear whether the time period includes public holidays or not. &ldquo;As compare to the past, the permission process has been shortened. But the process still takes time as the authorities seek relevant documents,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Similarly, policy-wise it is difficult to provide license to the projects unless they submit required documents, mentions Babu Raj Adhikari, spokesperson at the Department of Electricity Development. &ldquo;There is no problem in giving permission for survey,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;But to grant permission for electricity generation, the companies must be registered and have obtained connection agreement from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which takes time.&rdquo;</p>

<p>NEA works to connect the generated electricity from hydropower projects to the national grid. NEA signs connection agreement with the project only if it has plans to extend the national grid in the project area. Adhikari informed that the permission for construction of hydropower projects by private sector gets halted if the NEA does not have any plan to construct national grid in the project area.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The journey to finding potential startups for the team was not just about getting the right companies but it was more about spreading entrepreneurial vibes among youngsters,&rdquo; said Binay Devkota, CEO of Clock B Business Innovations.</p>

<p>The experts speaking at the program said that Nepal has immense opportunities for the startups to grow, but the lack of intellectual property rights is a major setback for the startup community to grow in the market.</p>

<p>Prime Minister KP Oli said cottage and small-scale industries is&nbsp;one of the major sectors creating investment and employment opportunities. He ensured that no one will be dying of hunger in the coming days.</p>

<p>Yam Kumari Khatiwada, secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies highlighted the importance of promoting cottage and small-scale industries. &nbsp;She added that the government is aiming to establish product specific zones by bringing together scattered products and industries.</p>

<p>The expo features 292 stalls of various entrepreneurs from all 77 districts of the nation. The expo which displays national products including food, traditional as well as modern technologies, wood crafts, handicrafts, garments, regional as well as cultural products was observed by a large number of the visitors from the first day, informed the organisers.</p>
