According to Nepal Bankers’ Association, bank deposits increased by Rs 11.3 billion in the first week of September.

<span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif"">According to the association, the total deposits of commercial banks was Rs 4426.16 billion as of August 26 which increased to Rs 4437.45 on September 2. Besides the high interest rate, such schemes also offer insurance coverage, credit card, easy loan among other facilities.

<span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif"">The attractive schemes of banks have played a positive role in increasing deposits.

<span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif"">President of Nepal Bankers Association Anil Kumar Upadhyay says that banks were under pressure to increase deposit collection and therefore they announced various schemes.

<span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif"">Another reason for increase in bank deposits is believed to be the festive season. The political parties have allocated 84 out of 110 seats under proportional representation system for women to ensure 33 percent participation of women in parliament.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The aim of the constitution is to ensure at least 33 percent of women in the law-making level, not to increase the percentage of women to 33 through proportional representation.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">If the political parties still do not provide equal treatment and equal opportunities to women, it is futile to hope for a change.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Even considering the aspect of population, women should get 50 percent share in elections. According to the Central Department of Statistics, among the population of 29.2 million, around 15 million are women. In addition, the literacy rate of women has increased in recent times and the number of women getting higher education has also increased significantly. Therefore, there is no shortage of potential women candidates for elections.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">After the 2006 movement, the provision of 33 percent reservation was made for women. However, with the changing times, it is now necessary amend it.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Ever since mandating 33 percent women participation, the number of women's participating in the bureaucracy, army, police, courts, educational institutions, financial institutions, etc. has increased. A few days ago, UML leader Dr. Brinda Pandey said that there should be at least 50 percent women candidates in direct elections. Congress leader Dr. Dila Sangraula's echoed the same. Although they raised such serious issue, their own parties are not taking this issue seriously.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Until there is equal opportunity and the courage to take equal risks, recognition has little meaning. Of course, the physiology of women and men are different. But it does not mean that women are weak. Women are more skilled in some work and men are more skilled in other. This matter is only used for division of labor.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">In elections, the trend of selecting male candidates for first-past-the-post election and women for proportional representation is not fair. In the upcoming elections, big parties should stop such trend.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2022-09-05', 'modified' => '2022-09-05', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '15672', 'image' => '20220905013339_Election_Commission.2e16d0ba.fill-650x500.jpg', 'article_date' => '2022-09-05 13:33:04', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '34' ) ), (int) 12 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '15930', 'article_category_id' => '266', 'title' => 'Coca Cola Zero Sugar in RGB', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'September 5: Coca-Cola Nepal has launched 'Coca-Cola Zero Sugar' in RGB (returnable glass bottle).', 'content' => '
<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">September 5: Coca-Cola Nepal has launched 'Coca-Cola Zero Sugar' in RGB (returnable glass bottle).
