<p>&ldquo;The bank is providing livestock loans and small farmer renewable energy loans at subsidised interest rates,&rdquo; says Krishna Kumari Sharma, Area Manager of the bank. &ldquo;We are also organizing programs on livestock protection and promotion along with small farmers social/community and infrastructure development programs.&rdquo; Bank has been organising farmer focused programs in 93 VDCs of these districts to raise their livelihoods.</p>

<p>According to the bank, its activities were affected by the last year&rsquo;s devastating earthquake and Indian blockade. It informed that the loan investment targets could not met due to the unfortunate natural and political events.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The taskforce will discuss on implementing automated pricing system of medicines,&rdquo; says Bal Krishna Khakurel, Director General of DDA, adding, &ldquo;Nothing can be said right away but the automated pricing mechanism could be the subject of discussion for new pricing system of medicines.&rdquo; &nbsp;He also informs that new pricing of system will be finalized by mid-June. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The government and pharmaceutical manufacturers are disputing on implementing MRPs of medicines. &nbsp;The cabinet on July 6 approved MRPs of 96 medicines. But drug manufacturers have rejected the government fixed rates claiming the prices to be unreasonable in the present context.&nbsp;</p>

<p>District Administration Office (DAO) of Kathmandu on March 4 arrested prominent pharmaceutical makers on charge of selling medicines at prices higher than the government-set rates. Later, they were freed after intense pressure from the private sector. The dispute still persists between the government and medicine manufacturers regarding the issue.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The state has adopted free-economic policies in constitution itself, thus the government cannot pressurise drug manufacturers to sell medicine in fixed MRPs,&rdquo; says Pashupati Murarka, President of Federation of Nepaleses Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). &ldquo;Drug manufacturers should be authorised to price their products so that they can compete in the international market following the market trends.&rdquo; He said that with the rising value of US dollar, price of raw materials have also increased. &ldquo;But the government is not considering these facts,&rdquo; he argues.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Scientific pricing mechanism of medicine is necessary,&rdquo; says Shankar Ghimire, President of APPON. According to him, the price of raw materials increases with the rise in the value of US dollar. &nbsp;&ldquo;Given the circumstances we face, policy should be implemented for automated pricing system,&rdquo; he adds.</p>

The bank has provided micro-loans of Rs 495.1 million, Rs 28 million in livestock loans and 5.9 million energy loans to the farmers till Mid-December. The bank has financed loans to 62,500 farmers.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The bank is providing livestock loans and small farmer renewable energy loans at subsidised interest rates,&rdquo; says Krishna Kumari Sharma, Area Manager of the bank. &ldquo;We are also organizing programs on livestock protection and promotion along with small farmers social/community and infrastructure development programs.&rdquo; Bank has been organising farmer focused programs in 93 VDCs of these districts to raise their livelihoods.</p>

<p>According to the bank, its activities were affected by the last year&rsquo;s devastating earthquake and Indian blockade. It informed that the loan investment targets could not met due to the unfortunate natural and political events.</p>

<p>The government and pharmaceutical manufacturers are disputing on implementing MRPs of medicines. &nbsp;The cabinet on July 6 approved MRPs of 96 medicines. But drug manufacturers have rejected the government fixed rates claiming the prices to be unreasonable in the present context.&nbsp;</p>

<p>District Administration Office (DAO) of Kathmandu on March 4 arrested prominent pharmaceutical makers on charge of selling medicines at prices higher than the government-set rates. Later, they were freed after intense pressure from the private sector. The dispute still persists between the government and medicine manufacturers regarding the issue.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The state has adopted free-economic policies in constitution itself, thus the government cannot pressurise drug manufacturers to sell medicine in fixed MRPs,&rdquo; says Pashupati Murarka, President of Federation of Nepaleses Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). &ldquo;Drug manufacturers should be authorised to price their products so that they can compete in the international market following the market trends.&rdquo; He said that with the rising value of US dollar, price of raw materials have also increased. &ldquo;But the government is not considering these facts,&rdquo; he argues.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Scientific pricing mechanism of medicine is necessary,&rdquo; says Shankar Ghimire, President of APPON. According to him, the price of raw materials increases with the rise in the value of US dollar. &nbsp;&ldquo;Given the circumstances we face, policy should be implemented for automated pricing system,&rdquo; he adds.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Bank is operating this program for farmer families coordinating with 54 organisations in Makwanpur, Chitwan, Bara, Rautahat and Parsa districts,&rdquo; says Ram Babu Singh, Senior Assistant of the bank. The bank has provided micro-loans of Rs 495.1 million, Rs 28 million in livestock loans and 5.9 million energy loans to the farmers till Mid-December. The bank has financed loans to 62,500 farmers.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The bank is providing livestock loans and small farmer renewable energy loans at subsidised interest rates,&rdquo; says Krishna Kumari Sharma, Area Manager of the bank. &ldquo;We are also organizing programs on livestock protection and promotion along with small farmers social/community and infrastructure development programs.&rdquo; Bank has been organising farmer focused programs in 93 VDCs of these districts to raise their livelihoods.</p>

<p>According to the bank, its activities were affected by the last year&rsquo;s devastating earthquake and Indian blockade. It informed that the loan investment targets could not met due to the unfortunate natural and political events.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The taskforce will discuss on implementing automated pricing system of medicines,&rdquo; says Bal Krishna Khakurel, Director General of DDA, adding, &ldquo;Nothing can be said right away but the automated pricing mechanism could be the subject of discussion for new pricing system of medicines.&rdquo; &nbsp;He also informs that new pricing of system will be finalized by mid-June. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The government and pharmaceutical manufacturers are disputing on implementing MRPs of medicines. &nbsp;The cabinet on July 6 approved MRPs of 96 medicines. But drug manufacturers have rejected the government fixed rates claiming the prices to be unreasonable in the present context.&nbsp;</p>

<p>District Administration Office (DAO) of Kathmandu on March 4 arrested prominent pharmaceutical makers on charge of selling medicines at prices higher than the government-set rates. Later, they were freed after intense pressure from the private sector. The dispute still persists between the government and medicine manufacturers regarding the issue.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The state has adopted free-economic policies in constitution itself, thus the government cannot pressurise drug manufacturers to sell medicine in fixed MRPs,&rdquo; says Pashupati Murarka, President of Federation of Nepaleses Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). &ldquo;Drug manufacturers should be authorised to price their products so that they can compete in the international market following the market trends.&rdquo; He said that with the rising value of US dollar, price of raw materials have also increased. &ldquo;But the government is not considering these facts,&rdquo; he argues.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Scientific pricing mechanism of medicine is necessary,&rdquo; says Shankar Ghimire, President of APPON. According to him, the price of raw materials increases with the rise in the value of US dollar. &nbsp;&ldquo;Given the circumstances we face, policy should be implemented for automated pricing system,&rdquo; he adds.</p>

Chaudhary has been the Honorary Consul of Morocco in Nepal since 2007. The bilateral relation between the two countries was established in 1975.</p>

<p>The government and pharmaceutical manufacturers are disputing on implementing MRPs of medicines. &nbsp;The cabinet on July 6 approved MRPs of 96 medicines. But drug manufacturers have rejected the government fixed rates claiming the prices to be unreasonable in the present context.&nbsp;</p>

<p>District Administration Office (DAO) of Kathmandu on March 4 arrested prominent pharmaceutical makers on charge of selling medicines at prices higher than the government-set rates. Later, they were freed after intense pressure from the private sector. The dispute still persists between the government and medicine manufacturers regarding the issue.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The state has adopted free-economic policies in constitution itself, thus the government cannot pressurise drug manufacturers to sell medicine in fixed MRPs,&rdquo; says Pashupati Murarka, President of Federation of Nepaleses Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). &ldquo;Drug manufacturers should be authorised to price their products so that they can compete in the international market following the market trends.&rdquo; He said that with the rising value of US dollar, price of raw materials have also increased. &ldquo;But the government is not considering these facts,&rdquo; he argues.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Scientific pricing mechanism of medicine is necessary,&rdquo; says Shankar Ghimire, President of APPON. According to him, the price of raw materials increases with the rise in the value of US dollar. &nbsp;&ldquo;Given the circumstances we face, policy should be implemented for automated pricing system,&rdquo; he adds.</p>

The demand was endorsed by 18<sup>th </sup>AGM of Federation of Contractors&rsquo; Association of Nepal (FCAN) held in Ratnanagar, Chitwan. The demand is included in 29-points Chitwan manifesto of FCAN. &ldquo;Initiation would be taken with the government to establish legal system for prerequisites only in complex construction projects worth more than Rs 200 million,&rdquo; states the manifesto.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The AGM has decided to initiate the system that will qualify the joint-venture construction projects of Rs 20-200 million when the prerequisites required are met by main partner solely or by all partners, mentioned in the bid, collectively.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, FCAN also demands of mandatory representation of the Federation in National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) formed by the government. The manifesto also states to initiate surpassing of first amendment of Public Procurement Act, 2063 and amend the state-rule that required requisites in construction projects worth less than 200 million.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;&ldquo;AGM has provided framework for mergers of construction companies just as BFIs,&rdquo; informs Bishnu Budhathoki, Spokesperson of FCAN, adding, &ldquo;Decision has been taken to demand appropriate legal provision with the government for conducting mergers and accredit the experience of merging companies, turnover and bank&nbsp; &lsquo;reference&rsquo; of all firms and companies.&rdquo; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
