November 24: Winter migratory birds have arrived in Nepal to escape the cold in the northern hemisphere as the winter season began, according to the Bird Education Society in Sauraha.
The migratory birds have reached the Tarai plains and the inner Tarai, said former chairperson of the Society Basu Bidari.
Peak migration period for such birds is mid-September to late October. But the migration can continue until the end of November, states a news published by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti. More than 150 species of winter migratory birds from Russia, China, Sri Lanka, India and Korea flock to the southern plains with the start of winter.
