<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The street festival was organized with the motive of promoting goods made in Nepal and to preserve the culture.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The event was organized in a collaboration between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Durbar Marg Development Board, Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) and Ncell, which was also the main sponsor of the event.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati, FNCCI President Chandra Dhakal, FNCCI Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha, Ncell’s CEO Andy Chong along with representatives of Durbar Marg Development Board and REBAN jointly inaugurated the festival.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The organisers believe that this festival will help in promoting domestic tourism and also support small and cottage industries as well as the tourism industry of Nepal.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">Popular musical bands like Kutumba, Deepak Bajracharya and Rhythm Band along with singers Trishala Gurung, Aawiskar KC, Rohit Shakya, Lahure and The Elements performed during the Purple Saturday event.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">According to the organisers, more than 150,000 people attended the event. </span></span></span></p>
