April 17: Purple Saturday, co-organized by Ncell on the occasion of the 16th Durbar Marg Street Festival on April 15, was held in a grand manner, Ncell said in a statement.
The street festival was organized with the motive of promoting goods made in Nepal and to preserve the culture.
The event was organized in a collaboration between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Durbar Marg Development Board, Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) and Ncell, which was also the main sponsor of the event.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati, FNCCI President Chandra Dhakal, FNCCI Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha, Ncell’s CEO Andy Chong along with representatives of Durbar Marg Development Board and REBAN jointly inaugurated the festival.
The organisers believe that this festival will help in promoting domestic tourism and also support small and cottage industries as well as the tourism industry of Nepal.
Popular musical bands like Kutumba, Deepak Bajracharya and Rhythm Band along with singers Trishala Gurung, Aawiskar KC, Rohit Shakya, Lahure and The Elements performed during the Purple Saturday event.
According to the organisers, more than 150,000 people attended the event.
