March 17: Vivek Automobiles Private Limited of the MV Dugar Group has rolled out an electric scooter for the first time. The company launched a new electric scooter of Indonesian brand 'Gesits' in Nepal on Monday.
In a ceremony organized in its office premises in Kathmandu, Executive Director Kulman Ghising of the Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) inaugurated the introduction of the Indonesian brand of Gesits scooter.
The company is confident that the electric scooter Gesits will support the market expansion of MV Dugar in Nepali.
The Gesits scooter is equipped with a 5 KW electric motor. It has a 72-volt and 20 Ah lithium-ion battery and it is said to give a range of up to 100 kilometers on a single full charge.
The battery will take 90 minutes to fully charge, the company said. Only 1.3 unit of electricity is consumed for the charge. The company offers a three-year warranty on its smart LED batteries. Disc brakes are provided on the scooter, while each motor system is directly connected to the Android operating system.
Users can get information about the speed, temperature, and voltages of the scooter through their smartphone.
The two-wheeler has a comfortable seat for the rider and pillion rider. The front design of the Jessits scooter features a shark snout and HID projection headlamps with DRLs.
The scooter has features such as full LED tail lamps, a drive belt, a rear mono socket, and digital dashboard.
A rider can drive the Gesits electric scooter in three modes, namely Eco, Urban, and Sport. It takes only 5 seconds to reach the speed of 50km from 0. The maximum speed of the scooter is 76 km per hour.
Speaking at the programme, Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) executive Director Ghising advised people to use electric vehicles as it will reduce the cost along with control of environmental pollution.
Kulman Ghising complimented MV Dugar's role in the hydropower development of the country. “I feel delighted to see the group enter the electric vehicles,” he added. Motilal Dugar Chairman of MV Dugar said that launching the electric scooter was a part of their long-term future plan. The initial market price of the scooter is set at Rs 350,000.
