', 'content' => '<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">April 22: A preliminary list of the settlements affected due to expansion of transmission line by the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal Development Committee from Lapsephedi, Kathmandu to Hetauda and Tanahun via Ratamate, Nuwakot has been published. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">Senior Officer Hari Krishna Uprety shared that the preliminary list of the affected settlements located on both the sides of the transmission lines to be extended through MCC has come to the light. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">According to him, the list of the settlements to be affected in course of the construction of transmission line through MCA-Nepal, the government agency of the project to be constructed through US grant MCC, was disclosed. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">As per the published list, 50 settlements of 18 wards of Shivapuri, Panchakanya, Likhu and Tarakeswor rural municipality along with Belkotgadhi of Nuwakot would be affected. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">“The list of settlements to be affected from the construction of pillars and installation of wires in course of the expansion of 400-KV double circuit transmission line from Lapsiphedi to Ratmate has been published," Uprety said. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">MCA Nepal's Executive Director Khadga Bahadur Bista said a survey would be administered after publication of the list of the affected settlements to design and deliver compensation to the identified communities. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">He said 147 towers were needed to be erected in course of the construction of around 53-km transmission line in Nuwakot. The counting of snow leopards was carried out through a systematic camera trap revealing that there were around 90 snow leopards in Shey-Phoksundo National Park with a population density of 2.2 snow leopards per 100 sq km. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">“This is the first time a rigorous and scientific survey has been conducted in Shey-Phoksundo National Park. We need to continue our holistic conservation efforts to ensure that the communities and the snow leopards thrive together in the region. Managing the human-snow leopard interface should be our priority,” said Dr Ghana Shyam Gurung, the country representative of WWF Nepal. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">This survey was led by the national park with support from conservation partner WWF Nepal under the leadership of Nepal government. As of mid-March, the profit of seven banks has decreased compared to last year. As of mid-March, the profit of seven banks has decreased compared to last year. As of mid-March, the profit of seven banks has decreased compared to last year. As of mid-March, the profit of seven banks has decreased compared to last year.
