<p style="text-align: justify;">With the government encouraging production of electricity from different resources other than hydro power, investors are attracted towards it. Most of them are attracted towards solar energy.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to latest statistics, the number of solar energy producing companies on the process has so far reached 29. The total producing capacity of these companies will be 160.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;Among the companies receiving licenses to produce solar energy is Bishnupriya Solar Firm (1 MW), located at Nawalparasi,&rdquo; informs Baburaj Adhikari, Information Officer of the Department of Electricity Development.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, 18 companies have got licenses for survey and nine companies have submitted applications for survey.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Wind energy is another attraction after solar energy. However, there is less number of investors interested to invest in wind energy. Until now, only four companies have asked for survey license for it. The total electricity production of these companies will be 14 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, a company has already got license for production of 5 MW of wind energy. Meanwhile, three other wind energy companies of a total of 9 MW have submitted applications for survey license.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, in bio-mass energy, among the three companies applying for survey, two companies have already received the licenses. The capacity of the two bio-mass companies is 25.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had aimed at producing 100 MW from solar and wind energy as an alternative energy within one year of the start of the action plan, until March, 2017. However, till now, not a single megawatt of electricity has been produced from these alternative resources.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had forwarded the energy mix concept in view of the energy crisis in the future to be faced while emphasizing only on water resources, but investors could not be attracted citing high cost and low generation capacity. There is a situation that the only achievement in alternative energy in one year was the license of solar energy received by a company in Nawalparasi district.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sharing her experience as a startup during the discussion, Nemaphuki said networking and expressing our experiences and challenges with potential investors was one of the most important factors that an entrepreneur should keep in mind. &nbsp;She said that in Nepal, we find that the entrepreneurs are mostly hesitant to share their bad experiences with others and that certain transparency was necessary because we never know when that sharing might help us.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Poudel discussed about the factors that investors evaluate while investing in a startup. &quot;When startups look out for investment, they must know the background of the investor before approaching.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the context in which the Nepali startups are working, it is suitable for us to approach an angel investor who looks at the targeted market, problem solving capacity, and most importantly the scalability of the startups rather than a rationale investor who focuses on your financial part, said Poudel.&nbsp; According to Poudel, angel investors usually do target selection and check the compliance level before investing.</p>

The key challenge now is to put policies in place that will extend the cyclical recovery into a sustained period of high and inclusive growth.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report, the mission expects growth to reach 5.5 per cent in the current FY with the normalization of economic activities which is also being supported by a good monsoon, accommodative monetary policy and rising government spending. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, India&rsquo;s sudden withdrawal of high-denomination banknotes is expected to have a limited impact on activity overall; bank holdings of Indian rupee currency are small but some corporate and households who hold such notes have seen their purchasing power affected. The main risk to the outlook pertains to failure of capital budget implementation to improve.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The normalization of prices in the aftermath of last year&rsquo;s trade disruption is pushing down inflation which is expected to undershoot the authorities&rsquo; mid-2017 inflation target of 7.5 percent.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the report, Nepal&rsquo;s external position remains strong. International reserves of Nepal Rastra Bank reached a record high of US$8.7 billion in December 2016, equivalent to about 10 months of prospective imports and goods and services. However, following large surpluses in recent years, the external current account is now broadly in balance. This reflects recovering imports and moderating growth of remittances.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The medium-term outlook critically depends on efforts to sustain and deepen reform momentum. Strong policies are needed to enhance confidence amid ongoing political uncertainty. They are also needed to strengthen key institutions and administrative capacity which are critical for overcoming the chronic under-implementation of the budget and boosting private investment and growth. Accordingly, in the absence of strong policies, growth would likely revert to the average of the past decade and fall short of substantially improving living standards and social indicators.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">With the government encouraging production of electricity from different resources other than hydro power, investors are attracted towards it. Most of them are attracted towards solar energy.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to latest statistics, the number of solar energy producing companies on the process has so far reached 29. The total producing capacity of these companies will be 160.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;Among the companies receiving licenses to produce solar energy is Bishnupriya Solar Firm (1 MW), located at Nawalparasi,&rdquo; informs Baburaj Adhikari, Information Officer of the Department of Electricity Development.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, 18 companies have got licenses for survey and nine companies have submitted applications for survey.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Wind energy is another attraction after solar energy. However, there is less number of investors interested to invest in wind energy. Until now, only four companies have asked for survey license for it. The total electricity production of these companies will be 14 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, a company has already got license for production of 5 MW of wind energy. Meanwhile, three other wind energy companies of a total of 9 MW have submitted applications for survey license.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, in bio-mass energy, among the three companies applying for survey, two companies have already received the licenses. The capacity of the two bio-mass companies is 25.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had aimed at producing 100 MW from solar and wind energy as an alternative energy within one year of the start of the action plan, until March, 2017. However, till now, not a single megawatt of electricity has been produced from these alternative resources.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had forwarded the energy mix concept in view of the energy crisis in the future to be faced while emphasizing only on water resources, but investors could not be attracted citing high cost and low generation capacity. There is a situation that the only achievement in alternative energy in one year was the license of solar energy received by a company in Nawalparasi district.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Poudel discussed about the factors that investors evaluate while investing in a startup. &quot;When startups look out for investment, they must know the background of the investor before approaching.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">With the government encouraging production of electricity from different resources other than hydro power, investors are attracted towards it. Most of them are attracted towards solar energy.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to latest statistics, the number of solar energy producing companies on the process has so far reached 29. The total producing capacity of these companies will be 160.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;Among the companies receiving licenses to produce solar energy is Bishnupriya Solar Firm (1 MW), located at Nawalparasi,&rdquo; informs Baburaj Adhikari, Information Officer of the Department of Electricity Development.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, 18 companies have got licenses for survey and nine companies have submitted applications for survey.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Wind energy is another attraction after solar energy. However, there is less number of investors interested to invest in wind energy. Until now, only four companies have asked for survey license for it. The total electricity production of these companies will be 14 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, a company has already got license for production of 5 MW of wind energy. Meanwhile, three other wind energy companies of a total of 9 MW have submitted applications for survey license.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, in bio-mass energy, among the three companies applying for survey, two companies have already received the licenses. The capacity of the two bio-mass companies is 25.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had aimed at producing 100 MW from solar and wind energy as an alternative energy within one year of the start of the action plan, until March, 2017. However, till now, not a single megawatt of electricity has been produced from these alternative resources.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had forwarded the energy mix concept in view of the energy crisis in the future to be faced while emphasizing only on water resources, but investors could not be attracted citing high cost and low generation capacity. There is a situation that the only achievement in alternative energy in one year was the license of solar energy received by a company in Nawalparasi district.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sharing her experience as a startup during the discussion, Nemaphuki said networking and expressing our experiences and challenges with potential investors was one of the most important factors that an entrepreneur should keep in mind. &nbsp;She said that in Nepal, we find that the entrepreneurs are mostly hesitant to share their bad experiences with others and that certain transparency was necessary because we never know when that sharing might help us.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Poudel discussed about the factors that investors evaluate while investing in a startup. &quot;When startups look out for investment, they must know the background of the investor before approaching.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the context in which the Nepali startups are working, it is suitable for us to approach an angel investor who looks at the targeted market, problem solving capacity, and most importantly the scalability of the startups rather than a rationale investor who focuses on your financial part, said Poudel.&nbsp; According to Poudel, angel investors usually do target selection and check the compliance level before investing.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The event which observed the participation of startup founders, entrepreneurs, and students closed with a question and answer session.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report, the mission expects growth to reach 5.5 per cent in the current FY with the normalization of economic activities which is also being supported by a good monsoon, accommodative monetary policy and rising government spending. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, India&rsquo;s sudden withdrawal of high-denomination banknotes is expected to have a limited impact on activity overall; bank holdings of Indian rupee currency are small but some corporate and households who hold such notes have seen their purchasing power affected. <p style="text-align: justify;">The normalization of prices in the aftermath of last year&rsquo;s trade disruption is pushing down inflation which is expected to undershoot the authorities&rsquo; mid-2017 inflation target of 7.5 percent.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the report, Nepal&rsquo;s external position remains strong. International reserves of Nepal Rastra Bank reached a record high of US$8.7 billion in December 2016, equivalent to about 10 months of prospective imports and goods and services. However, following large surpluses in recent years, the external current account is now broadly in balance. This reflects recovering imports and moderating growth of remittances.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The medium-term outlook critically depends on efforts to sustain and deepen reform momentum. Strong policies are needed to enhance confidence amid ongoing political uncertainty. They are also needed to strengthen key institutions and administrative capacity which are critical for overcoming the chronic under-implementation of the budget and boosting private investment and growth. Accordingly, in the absence of strong policies, growth would likely revert to the average of the past decade and fall short of substantially improving living standards and social indicators.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">With the government encouraging production of electricity from different resources other than hydro power, investors are attracted towards it. Most of them are attracted towards solar energy.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to latest statistics, the number of solar energy producing companies on the process has so far reached 29. The total producing capacity of these companies will be 160.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;Among the companies receiving licenses to produce solar energy is Bishnupriya Solar Firm (1 MW), located at Nawalparasi,&rdquo; informs Baburaj Adhikari, Information Officer of the Department of Electricity Development.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, 18 companies have got licenses for survey and nine companies have submitted applications for survey.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Wind energy is another attraction after solar energy. However, there is less number of investors interested to invest in wind energy. Until now, only four companies have asked for survey license for it. The total electricity production of these companies will be 14 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, a company has already got license for production of 5 MW of wind energy. Meanwhile, three other wind energy companies of a total of 9 MW have submitted applications for survey license.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, in bio-mass energy, among the three companies applying for survey, two companies have already received the licenses. The capacity of the two bio-mass companies is 25.9 MW.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had aimed at producing 100 MW from solar and wind energy as an alternative energy within one year of the start of the action plan, until March, 2017. However, till now, not a single megawatt of electricity has been produced from these alternative resources.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The government had forwarded the energy mix concept in view of the energy crisis in the future to be faced while emphasizing only on water resources, but investors could not be attracted citing high cost and low generation capacity. There is a situation that the only achievement in alternative energy in one year was the license of solar energy received by a company in Nawalparasi district.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sharing her experience as a startup during the discussion, Nemaphuki said networking and expressing our experiences and challenges with potential investors was one of the most important factors that an entrepreneur should keep in mind. &nbsp;She said that in Nepal, we find that the entrepreneurs are mostly hesitant to share their bad experiences with others and that certain transparency was necessary because we never know when that sharing might help us.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Poudel discussed about the factors that investors evaluate while investing in a startup. &quot;When startups look out for investment, they must know the background of the investor before approaching.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the context in which the Nepali startups are working, it is suitable for us to approach an angel investor who looks at the targeted market, problem solving capacity, and most importantly the scalability of the startups rather than a rationale investor who focuses on your financial part, said Poudel.&nbsp; According to Poudel, angel investors usually do target selection and check the compliance level before investing.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The event which observed the participation of startup founders, entrepreneurs, and students closed with a question and answer session.</p>

The key challenge now is to put policies in place that will extend the cyclical recovery into a sustained period of high and inclusive growth.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report, the mission expects growth to reach 5.5 per cent in the current FY with the normalization of economic activities which is also being supported by a good monsoon, accommodative monetary policy and rising government spending. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, India&rsquo;s sudden withdrawal of high-denomination banknotes is expected to have a limited impact on activity overall; bank holdings of Indian rupee currency are small but some corporate and households who hold such notes have seen their purchasing power affected. The main risk to the outlook pertains to failure of capital budget implementation to improve.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The normalization of prices in the aftermath of last year&rsquo;s trade disruption is pushing down inflation which is expected to undershoot the authorities&rsquo; mid-2017 inflation target of 7.5 percent.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the report, Nepal&rsquo;s external position remains strong. International reserves of Nepal Rastra Bank reached a record high of US$8.7 billion in December 2016, equivalent to about 10 months of prospective imports and goods and services. However, following large surpluses in recent years, the external current account is now broadly in balance. This reflects recovering imports and moderating growth of remittances.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The medium-term outlook critically depends on efforts to sustain and deepen reform momentum. Strong policies are needed to enhance confidence amid ongoing political uncertainty. They are also needed to strengthen key institutions and administrative capacity which are critical for overcoming the chronic under-implementation of the budget and boosting private investment and growth. Accordingly, in the absence of strong policies, growth would likely revert to the average of the past decade and fall short of substantially improving living standards and social indicators.</p>
