Students of the School of Management, Tribhuvan University (SOMTU), successfully concluded the ‘Management Break 2014’ on June 15 by organizing various events that demanded creativity and critical thinking and provided real life business experience to the MBA students.
“The programme aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical and the practical knowledge in students,” said Prashant Raj Karki, advisor of the organising committee. “Students experience real life work experience while being entertained with management games.”
“Such programmes help to enhance knowledge and personality of the students,” opined Dr Bhoj Raj Aryal, deputy director of SOMTU. “The event is a knowledge sharing platform for students and it adds value to their learning experience,” Aryal said adding that such healthy competition between students from different colleges adds lot more to their classroom learning. “This sort of events should be encouraged more as they sharpen student’s management skills.”
In total 10 sub events were organized under the main event. And altogether eight colleges participated in the event: Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM), South Asian Institute of Management (SAIM), Uniglobe College, Apex College, KFA Business School, Kings College, Shanker dev Campus along with the organising college SOMTU who contested for the games individually and in groups.
KUSOM became the first winner by winning three events: ‘mad ad’ ‘get in the light’ and ‘balloon burst’. Similarly, the South Asian Institute of Management (SAIM) won two events: ‘brand documentary’ and ‘tag the brand’. SOMTU, the organising college won two games: ‘steal the treasure’ and ‘business talk’. Shanker Dev Campus, Uniglobe College, KFA Business School won the games: ‘business debate’, ‘tell a business tale’ and ‘brand fashion show’ respectively.
The programme was inaugurated on 8th June, a week before the actual event within the premises of SOMTU. The topic for the events like Documentary show, and theme for Brand Fashion Show and alike were given to the respective team’s captain on the same day.
Asian paints along with Panchakanya Group, NIC Asia Bank, Chaudhary Group, Sunrise Bank, Himalayan Bank, NLG Insurance, Janata Bank and Cine de Chef, sponsored the titles of the program.
