The two companies said the iPhone 5s and 5c will be available there beginning January 17. The mobile company and Apple will take pre-registrations starting on Wednesday. The companies did not announce prices for the phones, which went on sale in the US in September. Completion of the deal greatly expands Apple's reach in the world's most populous country and provides access to a previously untapped revenue stream. China Mobile is the world's largest carrier by subscribers, with around 700 million users -- or more than twice the population of the U.S. Apple executives have long courted the mobile carrier, and analysts have deemed the partnership a must-have for Apple as it seeks to gain devoted fans among China's rapidly growing middle class.

Blackberry Loses Balloon to USD 4.4 b in Q3
BlackberryBlackberry on 20th December reported losses worth USD 4.4 billion for its third quarter ending in November, but shares rose 15 per cent in trading as investors cheered its exit from handset manufacturing. The struggling Canadian smartphone pioneer had already posted losses totaling USD 965 million in the second quarter. The five-year manufacturing deal with Foxconn will help the company avoid future write-downs on unsold handsets. In return Foxconn, the Taiwanese contract manufacturing giant which also makes devices for Apple and other leading companies, will get a share of the device sales price for managing inventory. Intense competition from Apple’s iPhone and Android and Windows smartphones are the source of its woes, with many Blackberry customers switching the other brands. Blackberry is aiming its next device, to be called the Jakarta, at emerging markets. It will be made in Foxconn factories in Indonesia and Mexico.
