Popularity of business administration and business study is growing steadily with the time. Though many private and public colleges have been offering degrees in these courses, Shanker Dev Campus (SDC) stands as the first choice of every student yearning to pursue commerce and business study. 

 

Ideally located at the very center of Kathmandu- between the Tukucha River and Putalisadak, SDC is pioneer in management studies. It was established in 1851 AD.. During its establishment it was named as Nepal National College. However the name was changed with the government’s decision to merge it into TU. It has successfully played its role of a pioneering institution in the development of Management Education in Nepal ever since the introduction of National Education System Plan in 1971.

The college now offers Bachelor in Business Studies (BBS), Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Studies (MBA).  

 

Elaborating on factors that make the college unique for management studies, Prakash Singh Pradhan Chief of the campus says, “We are the oldest management education campus of Tribhuvan University, secondly we have a good faculty members contributing to the overall development of the students.”

 

He further adds that the campus education system equally focuses on providing knowledge about the practical aspects of management theories included in the syllabus. “ We provide practical knowledge along with theoretical lessons that focus on practical needs of real-time situation and the humanitarian aspect.” 

 

Elaborating on the institution’s plans, he said, “We are looking forward to establish Shanker Dev Campus as an autonomous college, so that  it can develop its own curriculum.” He said that the college is looking forward to introduce a new course BBA (Banking) in the near future and added that it has tied-up with banks, financial institutions and other business circles. 

 

Commenting on being awarded the B-School Rating- Ranking Award by the New Business Age, Pradhan said that the award has boosted the moral of his students and faculty members. He added that the move will encourage the education institutes to perform even better in the coming future. 

 

As advice to students who are looking for colleges to enroll, he said the quality of education imparted, the practical exposure provided, and the infrastructure of the institute, should be primarily assessed.
