NEW APPOINTMENTS 

Vijaya Bahadur Shah has resigned from the post of Chief Executive Officer of Himalayan Everest Insurance Company, according to the press release of the company. Anju Shrestha, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the company, has been given the responsibility of Acting CEO until further arrangements are made. 

Sanjen Jalavidhyut Company has appointed Arpan Bahadur Singh as Acting CEO. Singh is the seniormost employee in the company and is working as the chief of 42.5 MW Sanjen hydroelectricity project that is under development. 

Anuj Acharya has joined Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank as Assistant Chief Executive Officer. Earlier, he was Finance Manager at Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd. 

Dip BC of Citizen Life Insurance Company has been promoted to Deputy CEO from Deputy General Manager. 

Sujit Shrestha has joined Esewa Money Transfer - EMT as the Head of Treasury department. Earlier, he was Treasury Dealer at Nabil Bank. 

Shahank Guragain has assumed responsibility as the Chief Financial Officer of City Hotel Ltd. He replaces Ishwar Bandhu who resigned from the position citing personal reasons. 

Ayush Shah has joined CG Corp as Deputy Brand Manager. Earlier, he was Senior Marketing Officer at Jawalakhel Group of Industries. 

Ashok Thapa has been appointed as Senior Manager – PR at Beanstalk Asia. Earlier, he was Brand Manager at Prime Tiles. 

Bhanu Dabadi has joined FranGlobal as Independent Franchise Consultant (IFC) to lead Nepal's market. Earlier, Dabadi was Director of Strategic Planning at National Banking Institute Ltd. (Nepal). 

Narayan Adhikari has assumed responsibility as the Acting CEO of Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. The position became vacant after Prem Bahadur Pathak stepped down as the CEO of the institution. 

MOVEMENTS IN PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANIES 

 

Rajendra Lal Shrestha has been elected as the Chairman of Citizens Capital Ltd. Similarly, Narayan Raj Adhikari has been eleected as the Director of the company. Both represent Citizens Bank International in the capital. 

The resignation submitted by Madhusudhan Adhikari, the Chairman and independent Director of MB Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, has been accepted. 

Director of NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited representing the general Prakash Raj Sharma has been elected as the Chairman of the company. The position was vacant after Suvarna Paudel had resigned prom the post. 

Subarna Poudel, Chairman of NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd has resigned from the institution. He had been representing the public shareholders’ group. 

Binil KC has been elected as the Chairman of Moru Digital Wallet (PayNep Pvt Ltd). A Masters in Management, KC has over 18 years of experience in trade and manufacturing. KC, who is also the President of Tulsipur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, is in the Board of Directors of the company for the past three years. 

Sabitri Khatri Chhetri
has been selected as the Chairperson of NESDO Samriddha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. The company also has Nirmala Chhetri and Resham Bahadur Khatri as Directors from promoter shareholders’ group, while Ratna Prasad Adhikari has been elected Board Director from other founding members. 

Dhan Kumari Adhikari has been elected as the Director of Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company Ltd. 

Bishrut Thapa has been elected as the Chairperson of Nepal Clearing House Ltd. Chartered Accountant Thapa has over 21 years of experience working in various departments of the central bank. The Board of Directors of the company includes representatives from the central bank, commercial banks, development banks, and financial companies. 

The resignation of Tanka Ram Gautam as a board director of ICFC Finance Limited has been accepted. 

Bishwa Chandra Ghimire has been appointed as an independent director of Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited. 

Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company has a change in the Board of Directors. Founder investor Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has nominated NEA Director Rajan Dhakal to the company’s Board as its representative replacing Prabal Adhikari. 

ELECTED IN BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS 

Kumar Mani Thapaliya has been elected as the President of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA). Jiswa Tuladhar and Ghanshyam Ghimire have been elected unopposed as Senior Vice President and Vice President, respectively, while Yubika Bhandari has been elected as the General Secretary. Bishnu Pandey, Suresh Amgai and Dhaknath Kafle were elected unopposed as Secretary, Treasurer, and Joint Treasurer, respectively. Shraddha Joshi, Ram Shovit Raya, Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Bidur Prasad Khatiwada, Sudarshan Poudyal, Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Bijay Rijal and Rama Kumari Pyakurel have been elected as members. 

GOVERNMENT MOVEMENTS 

Dr Kundan Aryal has been appointed as the Head of the Journalism and Mass Communication department of Tribhuwan University. 

The Ministry of Finance has changed the portfolios of five Joint Secretaries. Accordingly, Narendra Rana will now head Budget and Programme Division while Ram Prasad Acharya will head the Administration Division. Narayan Sapkota and Sushila Aryal are posted in the Financial Comptroller General Office. Similarly, Ram Kumar Mahato is now Deputy Director General of Department of Customs. These changes follow the case filed in the court by the Commission for Investigation in Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against 12 high level officers including two joint secretaries or the Ministry of Finance. Others among the 12 against whom the CIAA has filed case in the court include Chief Secretary of the Government Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, the then Director General of Inland Revenue Department Ritesh Shakya and Deputy Director General Tanka Pandey. Shakya’s latest position was that of Head of the Budget and Programme Division. Aryal was transferred to the Ministry of Finance recently. One Joint Secretary of the Ministry Tek Raj Pandey is without any responsibility assigned. Pandey was earlier heading the Administration Division. 

Rajendra Prasad Yadav has been appointed as the Executive Director of the National Dairy Development Board through a competitive process. This is his second term in the Board. 

Liladevi Gadtaula, formerly a secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has been appointed as the Officiating Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal. This follows the automatic suspension of the previous Chief Secretary, Dr Baikuntha Aryal, after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case against him in the Special Court. Aryal and 11 others have been accused of corruption in the procurement of excise duty stickers. 

Dr Ram Prasad Dhital has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Electricity Regulatory Commission. The cabinet meeting held on June 21 also appointed Dr Madhusudan Adhikari and Jhamak Prasad Sharma as members of the Commission. Dhital, who has been contributing to the government and stakeholders in the policy making of the energy sector for almost 3 and a half decades, has already completed his duties as a member of the Commission for about 3 years. Dr. Dhital has completed his tenure as the Executive Director of Alternative Energy Promotion Center(AEPC). 

Prof Dr Sudip Acharya, Prof Dr Guru Khanal, Prof Dr Sujan Babu Marahatta and Prof Dr Sarala Shrestha have taken charge as directors of Directorate of Standards and Accreditation, Directorate of Planning, Coordination and Academic Upgradation, Directorate of Examination, and the National Board of Medical Specialties, respectively, of the Medical Education Commission. Dr Acharya previously served as a member of the Nepal Medical Council and was part of the expert group at the Medical Education Commission. Dr Khanal is a former registrar of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. Dr Marahatta is a public health expert, while Dr Shrestha is the former chief of Maharajgunj Nursing Campus. 

Chiranjivi Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Attorney of Gandaki Province government. Sharma is in the legal profession since 1991. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science and is a former president of the Myagdi chapter of Nepal Bar Association. 

Narendra Bhandari has been appointed as the Chairperson of Hetauda Cement Industry. 

Padam Oli has been appointed as the General Manager of Industrial District Management Limited. 

Tej Bahadur Rai has been appointed as the Executive Director of the International Convention Center. 

Prof Dr Chandra Mani Poudel has been appointed as the Executive Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Bagamati Province University of Science and Technology. 

Ramhari Pokharel has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Roads. Earlier, he was Deputy Director General (Planning Division) of the Department of Roads. 

Sushil Babu Dhakal has been transferred from the Department of Roads to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. He will head the Planning Division of the ministry. Umesh Bindu Shrestha, who was working in the ministry's Planning Division, has been transferred to the Planning Division of the Department of Roads. 

Ajay Kumar Mul has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Railways. The position was lying vacant after Rohit Kumar Bisural took retirement. Mul was earlier working at the Postal Highway Project Directorate. 

Dr Sohan Sah has been appointed as the Vice-chairperson of the Policy and Planning Commission of the Madhesh Province Government. He was a member of the commission when Janamat Party was in the ruling coalition led by Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal.
