NEW APPOINTMENTS 

 

Abhiman Bararia has joined Asian Paints Nepal as Country Director. Earlier, Bararia was Country Director of Asian Paints Berger UAE. He had worked in Asian Paints Nepal in the past as well. Bararia replaces Gopalakrishnan G who has been promoted and transferred to Oman as Country Director. He will also look after the company’s global projects. 

Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana has been re-appointed as the CEO of Nabil Bank Ltd for a two-year term. Dhungana, who has over 25 years of experience in the managerial and leadership role in the banking industry, previously led Nepal Bangladesh Bank as the CEO for 10 years. 

Surendra Thapa has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Reinsurance Company for four years. Earlier, Thapa was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ajod Insurance and before that he worked as an Acting Administrator at the Rastriya Beema Sansthan. 

Dr Ghanashyam Ojha has been appointed as the Director General of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). Dr Ojha, who worked as a journalist for The Kathmandu Post and Republica dailies, also worked for the Office of the Investment Board Nepal and Nepal Infrastructure Bank, among others. He holds a PhD degree in public administration. 

Amit Chand has joined Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank as Assistant CEO. Earlier, he was Chief Manager at Bank of Kathmandu. 

Manish Ghimire has joined Nepal Life Capital Ltd. as the CEO for a four year-term. Before joining Nepal Life Capital, he was Chief Operating Officer/Chief Investment Officer at NIC Asia Capital Limited. Ghimire has over a decade of experience in the investment banking and advisory sector in the Nepali capital market. He has also worked at Siddhartha Capital and Nabil Investment Banking Ltd. 

Ramesh Pant has joined Stream Peak by Soaltee Hotel and Resorts as General Manager. Earlier, he was with Soaltee Westend Resort Nagarkot (formerly called Tayo Resort) as Hotel Manager. 

Rajat Shrestha of Hotel Himalaya has been promoted to Food and Beverage Operations Manager from Assistance Food and Beverage Manager Operations. 

Lokendra N Shrestha of Hotel Himalaya has been promoted to Banquet Manager from Food and Beverage Executive. 

Suraj Maharjan has been appointed as Traffic Manager (Digital Marketing Department) at Yeti Distillery Pvt. Ltd. Earlier, he was Manager-Brand & Marketing at Simrik Ventures. 

Om Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd’s Senior Radiologist Dr. Anand Prasad Shrestha has been unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the board of directors. Likewise, Sarala Rijal, Dr. Hari Kishore Shrestha, Dr. Gisup Prasiko, Dr. Rajesh Kishore Shrestha, Dr. Rita Singh Hamal, Sharadkanta Adhikari, Hari Prasad Pathak, Vijay Malla, Babu Kazi Karki and Prof. Dr. Jageshwar Sharma Gautam have been elected as the Directors of the hospital. 

Khuma Aryal has been unanimously elected as the Chairperson of Nepalgunj Medical College after acquiring major shares in the company. Along with Aryal, Dinesh Shrestha, Anij Shrestha, Dr Suresh Kumar Kanodiya, Santosh Kanodiya, Santosh Kumar Khanal, Lok Harsha Shakya, Ajaya Gupta and Sandeep Agrawal are the promoters of the medical college. Aryal serves as the Chairperson of Gandaki Medical College and the Managing Director of Universal College of Medical Sciences, Bhairahawa. He has also begun work on Sanjivani Hospital in Dang which he plans to eventually develop into a medical college. 

ELECTED IN PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANIES 

Bharat Raj Koirala has been elected as the Chairperson of Grameen Bikas
Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. Likewise, under secretary Kaman Singh Thapa Magar has been appointed on the Board of Directors of the company as the representative of the Ministry of Finance. Along with this, the changed directors are Shivhari Dangal, Sushil Kumar Nepal, Kaman Singh Thapa Magar and Manoj Kumar Khadka. 

Milan Sigdhel has been nominated as Director of NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. representing NIC Asia Bank Ltd for the remaining term replacing Kamal Khadka. 

Ila Sharma has been elected as the Board Director of Citizens Bank International Ltd from the public shareholders group. 

Rajendra Malla has been elected as the Chairperson of Prabhu Insurance Ltd. Malla, who is also the immediate past president of Nepal Chambers of Commerce, has been involved in the non-life insurance sector for a long time. Mijas Bhattachan, Rahul Thokar Lama and Shanta Gautam have been elected to the Board of Directors from promoter shareholders group, and Rameshwor Sapkota and Sangay Lama from public shareholders group. 

Lilanath Dhakal has been appointed as Board Director of Muktinath Capital Ltd. Dhakal is the Proprietor of Manaslu Trading. 

Nirmala Adhikari Bhattarai has been appointed as the Board Director of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Ltd as the representative of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. She replaces Komal Bahadur Khatri in the company’s Board of Directors. 

The resignation of Indra Mani Trital, a Board Director of Api Power Company Ltd, has been approved. Trital had stepped down stating that he was unable to continue in the position due to his busy schedule. 

Ang Nima Sherpa has been elected as the Chairman of Three Star Hydropower Company Limited and Rakesh Joshi has been elected as the Board Director. 

ELECTED IN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION 

Anupam Rathi has been unanimously elected as the President of Morang Merchants Association. Anil Sah, Bikas Begbani and Anil Sharda have been elected as Senior Vice President, Vice President (industry) and Vice President (Commerce), respectively, while Sanjaya Kumar Shrestha has been elected as General Secretary. Amit Sharda, Rajesh Bagadiya and Dipesh Subedi are the Secretary, Treasurer and Spokesperson, respectively, in the new executive committee, while Manish Maru, Sushil Surana, Bivek Agrawal, Binit Singhaniya, Ashish Jaju, Pawan Rathi, Debasish Golcha and Amit Rathi are Executive Members. Dhiraj Mahato and Bandana Jain have been nominated as members in the Executive Committee, while Om Sharma and Gopal Agrawal represent Commodity group and Krishna Prasad Rijal represent Chapters. Binod Bohora, Dr Dipendra Naulakha, Pankaj Goyal and Sanjeev Shrestha are the invited members in the executive committee, while Shruti Sharma is the Women's Coordinator. 

GOVERNMENT MOVEMENTS 

Prof Dr Biju Kumar Thapaliya has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Purbanchal University, Prof Dr Dhruba Kumar Gautam as the Vice Chancellor of Mid-Western University and Prof Dr Hem Raj Pant as the Vice Chancellor of Far Western University. Pant is serving as the Head of the Applied Science and Chemical Engineering Department of Pulchowk Engineering Campus. 

Former High Court Judge Sriman Kumar Gautam has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee. The position had been lying vacant after Chairperson Kashi Raj Dahal and two members - Keshav Raj Acharya and DB Basnet, completed their term in mid-March. 

Nanda Lal Majhi has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Social Welfare Council. 

Suresh Manandhar has been appointed as a Member of the Language Commission. 

DIGs Umesh Raj Joshi and Bhim Prasad Dhakal have been promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police. The two positions had been lying vacant after AIGs Sandeep Bhandari and Meera Chaudhary completed their terms in the third week of April. 

The resignation tendered by Dr Chiranjibi Nepal, the economic adviser to the President, has been approved. Ruling coalition partner, CPN-UML, had sought his resignation after he opposed the government’s decision to include Nepal’s updated map on new banknotes. 

Prof Dr Ajaya Bhattarai has been appointed as a Member of the Tribhuvan University Service Commission. He has been serving as the Head of Department of Chemistry at the Mahendra Morang Campus, Biratnagar. 

Prof Dr Lekhnath Sharma has been appointed as the Executive Chairperson of Policy Research Institute. The position had been lying vacant for over a year. 

Joint Secretaries Lok Nath Poudel and Rajendra Prasad Mishra have been promoted to Secretary. Poudel was serving as Acting Secretary in the Madhesh Province Government, while Mishra has been promoted from Agriculture and Forestry Service Group. 

Lekhnath Sharma has been appointed as the member of Nepal Revenue Advisory Board. 

Sangita Khadka has been appointed as the chairperson of Minimum Wage Fixation Committee. A journalist having close ties with the CPN (Maoist Center), Khadka had served in the position earlier as well. 

Dr. Rajendra Adhikari has been appointed Vice Chairperson of Koshi Province Planning Commission. 

Raju Raman Poudel, Executive Director of Nepal Insurance Authority, has retired from the organisation.
