Five out of six hospitality companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) have recorded growth in their net profits in the first nine months of fiscal year 2023/24. Soaltee Hotel Ltd, Taragaon Regency Hotels Ltd, Chandragiri Hills Ltd, Oriental Hotels Ltd and Kalinchowk Darshan Limited all have experienced profit growth in the third quarter of the current fiscal year. The surge in profits for these hospitality companies is attributed to the surge in tourist arrivals following the subsiding of the coronavirus pandemic.
Soaltee Hotel logged the highest profit of Rs 412.3 million among the listed companies. The hotel’s profit surged by 11.08% in the first nine months of 2023/24 compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. The hotel’s for the third quarter exceeded Rs 1.68 billion, up from Rs 1.50 million during the same period of the previous fiscal. Taragaon Regency Hotels experienced a 39% net profit growth in the third quarter of the current fiscal year. The company's profit rose from Rs 238.8 million to Rs 333.2 million during the period. Similarly, Oriental Hotels saw a 10% increase in profit during the third quarter of the current fiscal year. The five-star property logged a net profit of Rs 65.9 million in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, compared to Rs 60 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Chandragiri Hills Limited recorded a profit of Rs 107.9 million in the third quarter, marking a 38.81% increase from the previous year's Rs 77.7 million. Likewise, Kalinchowk Darshan Limited reported a profit of Rs 24.7 million in the third quarter of the current fiscal year, compared to Rs 23.1 million in the same period last year. However, City Hotel Ltd faced a loss of Rs 153.7 million in the third quarter of the current fiscal year. This loss is an improvement from the Rs 212.1 million loss recorded in the same period of the last fiscal year.
