In the initial nine months of the ongoing fiscal year, Nepal has brought in 7,093 electric vehicles (EVs), valued at Rs 17.49 billion. This marks a substantial increase from the previous fiscal year's imports, which amounted to Rs 5.32 billion for 1,807 EVs during the corresponding period. In the current fiscal year, the predominant category of imported EVs lies within the 51-100 kW range.
According to the Department of Customs (DoC), 4,077 units of electric vehicles, totaling Rs 11.46 billion, were imported within this range. Likewise, 2,902 units of vehicles with a capacity of up to 50 kW, totaling Rs 5.4 billion, have been imported during this period. Additionally, a total of 93 units of EVs ranging from 101-200 kW, valued at Rs 468.8 million, were imported. Similarly, 21 units of EVs, worth Rs 153.2 million, in the 201 kW-300 kW range have been imported.
