Himalaya Airlines, a joint venture between Nepal and China, has launched its Kathmandu-Qingdao-Kathmandu flight service, starting from September 10, 2023. The new route facilitates seamless travel between Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, and Qingdao, a coastal city celebrated for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage in China. Himalaya Airlines will operate weekly service every Sunday.
The inaugural flight, H9 7220, departed from Tribhuvan International Airport at 9:15 local time and reached Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport at 17:22 local time, with a flight duration of approximately 5 hours and 50 minutes. The maiden flight had 113 passengers, reflecting the route's promising start. The flight inauguration was graced by Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation. Also in attendance were H.E. Chen Song, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, and other esteemed dignitaries.
