The South Korean television giant’s AI backed Smart TV offers a glimpse into the future of media consumption.
What do you do when you feel bored with tapping keyboards on your smartphone? You switch to your voice-controlled personal assistants – Siri, Google Assistant, or others – to command your phone. However, it was not possible to command your television to change the channel or to go to any settings through any other means besides the dedicated remote.
With the introduction of the AI ThinQ operating system, LG has redefined the term ‘smart television’. LG’s Magic Motion remote controls the series of AI ThinQ televisions. You can literally control the television by your voice through the magic motion remote. The remote has a strong onboard microphone, which captures the command and displays it on the television set so that the user can confirm whether it has correctly captured the query.
You can command your television to increase the volume, open the settings, open apps like Netflix, YouTube, among others. The television with AI ThinQ operating system is available on the 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch variants of the AI ThinQ televisions. The company claims no other brand has a television that matches the quality of the LG ThinQ operating system.
Some of LG’s previous televisions have had sound detecting technology, however, all commands would be forwarded to the internet browser. The LG OLED TV AI ThinQ (model OLED 65E8) was also named EISA Premium OLED television 2018-19. LG ThinQ AI works much like the voice recognition system available on modern smartphones, but you need to search for information by your voice through ThinQ AI instead of using the keys of the remote. LG’s ThinQ AI TVs start at 32-inch and goes up to wider screens. The LG ThinQ OLED TVs are powered by the Alpha 9 processors that provide true-to-life images with incredibly rich colours, sharpness and depth for more realism and its class-leading artificial intelligence functionality, while LG Super UHD TVs with ThinQ technology run with Alpha 7 processors. The Alpha 9 processors are capable of producing images at 120 frames per second for sports and action movies.
The ‘Magic Remote’ controls the television, and the remote features single click access, universal control, scroll, point and click, and more. The Super UHD TV offers denser backlighting zones throughout the display and significantly improves black levels and picture dimensions through independent control of LED light zones. It delivers better shadow details and reduces light bleeding for enhanced local contrast, which is important for viewing HDR content. According to LG, television viewers can enjoy superb colour accuracy and consistency at wide viewing angles without compromising on the picture quality.
