Known primarily for their banquet services, Opera Restro’s food is a party for your palate.

In a part of town filled with casual spots, Delish Opera Restro and Banquet is a great place for both a casual or refined lunch and dining experience. Located in Baluwatar, this restaurant is often thought of as merely a banquet hall but it is a lot more than that. It’s welcoming, unpretentious, and surprisingly casual. There are artfully arranged plants, decorated walls, comfortable seating arrangements and a friendly staff. Whether it’s a date night or a midweek dinner with friends, a meal at Opera feels like a special event. Moreover, that plays well with the laid-back Baluwatar crowd.
Having a seating capacity of 64, this restaurant has a banquet hall, which facilitates 700 guests. Along with this, they have seven small rooms, which can be booked for birthday parties, seminars or small family functions for 15 to 20 people. This restaurant is open from nine in the morning until nine at night. Opened only three months ago, this eatery is getting popular with the crowd quickly. Chef Rajan Subedi, who has been working in the industry for the last twenty-two years, says dishes such as Chicken Makku and Kurkure Kebab served here are well-liked by the diners.
Their expansive food includes western and eastern options including Indian, Nepali, Thai and Chinese food. Non-vegetarian appetisers like Sliced Pepper Chilly Pork and Crispy Fried Chicken Wonton are a must try. While on the vegetarian side, appetisers like Mushroom Tofu Chilly, Cheese Corn Roll and Pan Fried Paneer are mouthwatering. Among the list of Western Main Courses, dishes such as Pan Fried Pink Salmon and Grilled Lamb Chops with peppermint sauce are delicious.
Even if you have held onto your childhood aversion to salads, you should still try the spicy, crunchy plate of leaves served here. The dressing alone will convert you to the salad life. Pan Roasted Tofu Tomato Corn Salad and Chicken Caesar Salad are great dishes. Similarly, Indian dishes such as Paneer Tikka Masala or Murgh Makhani dipped with Tandoori Naan are an absolute treat to the palate.
Likewise, if you prefer Chinese and Thai, dishes like Shredded Hunan Chicken and Red or Thai Curry will hit the sweet spot. In addition, Tandoori cuisine such as Tandoori Chicken and Tandoori Kebab (chicken drumsticks barbequed in flavoured yoghurt) are a treat to the taste buds. There is a small case of pastries up front you might skip, but do not do that. The apple pie they serve here is tender and perfect, and you’ll be thinking about their Creme Brulee for a long time to come.
Whatever you end up eating here will be unusual, tasty, and probably not at all what you were expecting from a regular restaurant. What makes Opera so interesting is you walk in expecting mediocre dishes, and you leave having had a perfectly cooked item.
