“An opportunity to understand importance of grooming students for business sectors”

Anand Bagaria, Managing Director, Nimbus HoldingsAnand Bagaria
Managing Director, Nimbus Holdings

The award programme has helped to disseminate information about the educational institutions that have been providing management education in Nepal. The event has enabled us to know about the students that the institutions have been producing. It has provided an opportunity to understand the importance of grooming students for industries and enterprises. The programme is excellent from many perspectives. Had the organising date of the event been announced two to four months earlier, the programme would have benefitted more from the promotional activities.

“Increases confidence of colleges”

The awards will definitely boost the morale of the winners. It will motivate them to move ahead in the future. The institutions who were not able to win any titles will also realise that working harder will increase their chances to win next year.

“Suggestions of private sector important while developing B-school curricula”

Earlier, there were limited opportunities for academic institutions and corporate organisations to interact with each other. There was a little or no coordination between industries and educational institutions. The award programme has helped us to know about business schools. The programme provided a platform for academic institutions and business organisations to know each other. It would have been better if we are given the chance to point out the needs of business sectors while the academic institutions develop management curricula. At present, the colleges have been providing education, but we are not getting workforce that we have been searching. Award ceremony of this kind will help reduce the gap between demand and supply of human resource. New Business Age should continue this programme in the upcoming years.

“Opportunity to know B-schools and entrepreneurs”

The programme is very relevant to the present context. It will encourage B-schools to produce more skilled human resource. It will also motivate the educational institutions to take more pro-active academic approach in management studies. New Business Age needs to continue this event in the future. The award programme not only encourages the business schools but also motivate business organisations because the human resource produced by the B-schools ultimately joins business sectors. The programme has provided us an opportunity to know people from the educational sector and various business areas.

New Business Age has indeed come up with a very good initiative to award the best B-schools of the country. The award has completed its third year and has become a grand event. I hope for the continuation of this event in the future. It has also helped to improve the quality of education of the business schools. This will also encourage others to come forward for the awards.

“Hepls educational institutions to further delve into new areas of management education”

The programme will help educational institutions to further delve into new areas of management education. In the management faculty, there is only one course of study on insurance at present. It is not enough to produce the much needed human resource for the country’s insurance sector. Other courses related to insurance need to be added in the MBA. NLG Insurance has announced financial assistance to the students who prepare thesis on insurance for their master’s degree. However, no student has come forward seeking this assistance from us.

“We will see new B-schools rising”

Management studies are very important in today’s context. Whether it is agriculture or medicine, no course is complete without the knowledge of management. This is why the initiative of New Business Age to award the best B-schools is appreciable. In this year’s award, some colleges performed well while some didn’t. Since this event has reached its third edition, such institutions have received multiple chances to reform themselves. However, those colleges that haven’t been able to reform themselves are just making excuses. Educational institutions can progress if they really want to move forward despite their limitations.

“Award should continue in a comprehensive way”

Umesh Lal Shrestha, Vice-President, Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI)Umesh Lal Shrestha

The effort of New Business Age is commendable. As education is a major factor for development of any country, it is very beneficial to award the institutions of this sector. I hope this programme will move ahead comprehensively in the coming days. The winner colleges will directly benefit in terms of attracting more students. Similarly, the award has also presented a challenge to the educational institutions to work more and enhance their performance in the days to come. The colleges should focus on raising their standards and also create an environment in such a way that the education is affordable to the students from the lower income groups. Similarly, the colleges that have not been included in the list of the winners have the opportunity to improve their quality of education and become the best institutions. Increasing the quality of Nepali colleges is important for the students to receive good education in the country instead of flying abroad.

I would like to express my gratitude to the New Business Age group for organising such a significant event. Like the earlier editions, the event has garnered a huge success this year as well. This award has encouraged business schools throughout the country. I would also like to congratulate all winners. They now face a new challenge in terms of performing better to retain their respective titles in the upcoming editions. I hope that New Business Age will take lead with similar award ceremonies for other sectors as well in the days to come. Awards like these are beneficial to both the corporate and education sectors.
