Lenovo has been flexing its muscles in the global smartphone market in the recent years. The Chinese tech giant’s handset journey so far has met with widespread acclaim across the globe. The iconic brand has which has supplied the market with some of the most impressive devices has added Lenovo Vibe K5 Note in the list of its latest smartphones.
The all-metal unibody phone looks familiar to many other mid-range handsets of different brands available in the market at present. Nonetheless, it won’t be otherwise to say that Vibe K5 Note is successful enough to grab the attention of onlookers with its glorious design that shines out bright. The overall build design of the phone is robust giving a high-class feel to the users. The mild curves add to the overall beauty of the device while also provide a comfortable grip. In addition to that, the phone’s the thin bezels make the display alluring.
The 165 grams K5 Note is a large phone with a 5.5 inch FHD IPS LCD display with 401 ppi pixel density. The screen is vibrant in terms of colour reproduction, brightness levels and sharpness with good viewing angles. Users can choose temperature and balance of colour as per their preferences. However, the absence of Corning Gorilla Glass is a letdown as the display is prone to scratches and cracks in case of drops.
Powered by a 1.8 GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, K5 Note comes with 3GB RAM and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. The amalgamation makes for the smooth performance including multitasking and gaming. We tried some power hungry games such as Modern Combat and GTA San Andreas and the results were quite impressive. The HD games ran without any hitch. To our surprise the heat dissipation levels were also relatively low as we have expected that the phone would be heated during heavy use like other handsets reviewed earlier.
K5 Note’s audio quality is among the best in the phones of mid-range segment. The speaker is loud and clear with good amount of bass levels. The handset uses the Dolby Atmos technology that enhances the audio quality offering an array of options ranging from Surround Vitrtualizer to modes like game, music and movie.
Another mark the K5 Note leaves is on the camera front with its 13MP primary snapper. In amply lighted conditions, picture and video are remarkable with higher details, colour saturation and brightness levels. The camera’s performance is fine even in low-lighted conditions, but we have seen better ones in this price segment. Nevertheless, the image quality does not disappoint. The camera app hosts an array of conventional features including HDR, Panaroma, colour filters and various setting modes. In the meantime, the 8MP front camera is impressive with sharp selfies that it captures. The selfies look great even in dimly lit environments. The Beauty mode is quite handy when it comes to enhance the light in the images before capturing.
Availability of space won’t be a general problem for the phone’s users as K5 Note comes with 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. K5 Note houses a hybrid card slot which can be either use to add storage or a SIM card. Similarly, the handset also equips a fast and responsive fingerprint scanner that can be used for purposes like unlocking, going to home screen and the page of recently used apps. Meanwhile, it can also serve like a button to take photos especially the selfies.
The phone’s power backup won’t be an issue for many. It sports a 3,500 mAh battery which ensures continuous supply of power. On a full-charge, the handset would lasts for a full day on normal use, while the heavy use will deplete the battery in five to seven hours. K5 Note runs on Vibe UI which is Android Marshmallow-based OS developed by Lenovo which is neat and easy to use and looks like the stock version of Android. It comes with preloaded apps that users can uninstall.
VR experience is one of the phone’s major attractions. Since K5 Note is VR ready phone, users can enjoy virtual reality through Lenovo’s own ANT VR headgears using the Udimo remote controller. From watching videos to playing games, the phone’s VR system enthralls the excitement of users. The feature laden phone is available at Rs 27,500 in the market. Lifecom Pvt Ltd, the authorised distributor of Lenovo phones in Nepal is offering a free ANT VR headgear with every purchase of the Vibe K5 Note. The phone at this price point is a deal to steal.
