Syakar Trading Company Ltd was recently appointed the authorized distributor of Genuine Engine Oils of Idemitsu Lube India Pvt Ltd. Kapil Gandhi, Sales and Marketing Manager of Idemitsu Lube India Pvt Ltd was in Nepal for the launch of Idemitsu lubricants. In an interview with New Business Age, Gandhi shared his views on the growing engine oil and lubricant market of Nepal and the company’s product offerings. Excerpts:
What is the purpose of your visit?
Currently, we are global partner of Honda Genuine Oils across the world. We understood that Nepal market is growing like in India. As we have recently established our new factory in India, and Nepal is a neighboring country, we thought of marketing our products in Nepal as well. The user of every Honda bikes should get to use Honda Genuine Oils.
How important is Nepali market for your company?
Nepal is a very important market as it is growing steadily. There are a lot of cars, motorbikes and scooters sold here, and so the demand of fuel efficient products is also increasing. So we consider Nepal as a significant market for our products.
How do you assess the lubricant and engine oil market in Nepal?
It is a good market. There are numerous engine oil and lubricant brands in Nepal, but not all of them are fuel-efficient. In the recent days, we have seen that Nepali users are becoming quality-conscious and cost-competitive. The demand for fuel efficient lubricants and engine oils will definitely increase in the Nepali market.
Who are your target customers in Nepal?
Every Honda car, motorbike and scooter users are our potential customers. Every Honda user should be able to use Honda Genuine Oils.
What are your product offerings?
For now, we have introduced the full range of Honda Genuine Oils for cars, motorbikes and scooters and also transmission systems. In near future, we will bring in newer products in Nepali market.
What are the Unique Selling Propositions of your product?
The foremost feature of our product is its quality. The benefits our products offer are cost competitiveness, fuel efficiency and high technology.
How is presence in the South Asian market?
We have a strong presence globally, and similar is the case with the South Asian market. We are selling our products through 37 sales offices across the world.
All major engine oil and lubricants brands are present in Nepal and there is a good competition. How are you planning to face the competition?
The competition will be on our key selling points. We will conduct site visits; we are discussing with customers and identifying their needs. Basically we will focus on fuel efficiency. We want to create a win-win situation for both the customers and the company.
What are your promotional plans here in Nepal?
Our marketing plan is currently under development. Syakar Trading Pvt Ltd is our trusted partner and they have a good market plan. We will support them in increasing the penetration of our products.
