'content' => '<p>December 23: Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said that the government is expanding the tax. The finance minister made such remark while inaugurating a newly-constructed building of the Internal Revenue Office in Nepalgunj on Saturday, December 22.</p>
<p>According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti, Minister Khatiwada said during the function that businesspersons would be brought under the tax net. The state-run news agency reported that the tax net is being expanded based on geography and the establishment of revenue office in Surkhet is the example of this.</p>
<p>The finance minister shared that efforts were on to expand revenue offices in various geographical regions.</p>
<p>“If the taxpayers are discouraged, they can lodge complaints at the concerned offices,” the RSS quoted the minister as saying.</p>
<p>"In case of political pressure, both the payers and receivers can contact me. Adherence to law and regulations is imperative in the financial transaction."</p>
<p>According to him, sub-customs offices would be made more functional and well managed in order to revive the smooth collection of revenue from various parts of the country. The sub-customs offices would be set up in new border points, the minister shared the government’s plan.</p>
