December 5: The secretary-level Nepal-Bangladesh energy meeting held in the capital on Tuesday has paved way to export electricity produced from the Upper Karnali Hydropower Project.
According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the state-run national news agency, an Indian company Grandhi Mallikarjun Rao (GMR) is the promoter of the project producing 500 MW electricity.
RSS reported that the meeting endorsed the agreement on exporting electricity generated from the Upper Karnali Hydropower Project.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barsha Man Pun, had shared that Bangladesh was ready to import electricity from the project during his visit to Bangladesh in July year.
Joint-Secretary Dinesh Ghimire, spokesperson of the Ministry, shared that the meeting approved the decision on cooperation relating to investment on hydropower project, interstate electricity transmission line and renewable energy between the two countries.

<p>According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the state-run national news agency, an Indian company Grandhi Mallikarjun Rao (GMR) is the promoter of the project producing 500 MW electricity. <br />
RSS reported that the meeting endorsed the agreement on exporting electricity generated from the Upper Karnali Hydropower Project. <br />
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barsha Man Pun, had shared that Bangladesh was ready to import electricity from the project during his visit to Bangladesh in July year. <br />
Joint-Secretary Dinesh Ghimire, spokesperson of the Ministry, shared that the meeting approved the decision on cooperation relating to investment on hydropower project, interstate electricity transmission line and renewable energy between the two countries.</p>
