August 21: Nepal Gas Industries, the first company to import, bottle, and market liquid petroleum (LP) gas in Nepal, has launched composite cylinders in the Nepali market.

The company made the announcement amid a function held at Hotel Radisson on August 19. Nepal Gas Industries unveiled the 14.2 kg and 5 kg cylinders currently available at the launch ceremony attended by Minister of Industries, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav.

According to the company, the composite cylinders are globally acclaimed for their safety and convenient features.

“The newly launched explosion-proof composite cylinders made of fiber are tested to be safe even when engulfed in fire and has a translucent body enabling consumers to check the LP gas level with ease,” the company said in a statement.

According to the company, the UV protected and eco-friendly composite cylinders can withstand extreme weather conditions.

"The cylinders are eco-friendly, easy to carry, and is facilitated with many features such as gas leak detection, shut-off valve, and safety protection," explained Gokul Bhandari, executive director of NGI.

The composite cylinders are ideal for both domestic and commercial uses. These are conveniently available through the company's dealer and distributor network. Following its launch, the event also officially revealed NGI mobile App and TV commercial enacted by actress Keki Adhikari.

NGI said it uses cylinders of ISI standard which are tested and certified by the Bureau of Standards of India and Nepal Standard as prescribed by the Explosive Department of India/Nepal.

Nepal Gas further claimed that it has the biggest production and storage capacity in Nepal and can produce 12,000 cylinders per shift with 1,000 Metric tons of storage capacity.

“The tolerance level for LP gas is +/- 150gm according to Nepal Standard Law. But our tolerance level is only +/- 20gm,” the statement said.

During the function, Mero Kiranahas was announced as the online partner to deliver Nepal Gas composite cylinder within the Kathmandu Valley.
