June 26: Buddha Air has filed a request application at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation seeking approval for direct flights between Nepalgunj and New Delhi.

The domestic flight operator seeks permission for operating three regular international flights to the Indian capital from the south western territory of Nepal. The airlines has applied for operating three regular flights with its ATR 72 aircraft to Indira Gandhi International Airport. Buddha Air has mentioned the flight time at 6:30 am, 1 pm and 5:10 pm in the application.

The process for route permit will be initiated soon after approval from the concerned authorities, informed Buddha Air.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, has reportedly assured Buddha Air that he is positive about the proposed flight schedule.

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and India had previously signed an agreement for establishing L 626 air route a week. Buddha Air, after analyzing the agreement, made the request to the ministry for the approval of the proposed flights. Passengers can reach the capital of India within an hour and ten minutes with ATR-72 aircraft from Nepalgunj.

The Nepalgunj-New Delhi-Nepalgunj flights are expected to increase the economic and trade activities of the region, informed Birendra Bahadur Basnet, managing director of Buddha Air.

Similarly, Buddha informed that it is re-opening Kathmadu-Varansi flights from June 29.
