April 1: GO Automobiles  unveiled the new Ford Mustang in Nepal on Friday, March 30. The iconic sports car features a sleek new style, sophisticated engine and suspension upgrades, advanced driver assistance technologies and more customisation options.

Issuing a press statement, the company said that the instantly-recognisable, powerful Mustang now delivers a sleeker, more athletic appearance, enhanced with LED lighting technology.

“The new Mustang is anticipated to be the fastest accelerating car ever with an enhanced 5.0‑litre V8 engine that offers an anticipated 450 PS, combining with Ford’s new 6‑speed manual transmission,” reads the statement.

“Nepal’s passion for Mustang was seen during the NADA auto show 2017 , where all the Mustang enthusiasts admired the beauty of Mustang . There are few cars on the road that can deliver such a combination of heritage, style and performance to such a wide audience. The new Ford Mustang offers the most compelling package yet,” the statement further said.

Smart tech for safety and convenience

According to the company, the new Mustang also features Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system, which allows drivers to control their connected smartphones, audio, navigation, and climate functions with conversational voice commands, and by using pinch and swipe gestures on the central 8-inch touch screen. The system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

'Mustang has always been a superstar'

The Mustang legacy is noted to be one of the most appeared cars in the movies. It's first appearance was in the James Bond movie "Goldfinger".  Since 1964, the Ford Mustang has appeared in over 500 movies and hundreds more television programmes.

“Probably the most memorable film the Ford Mustang appeared in is Bullitt.  Steve McQueen starred in the movie as Lt Frank Bullitt driving his highland green 1968 Mustang GT 390.  His nine-minute plus unscripted chase scene through the streets of San Francisco has long been revered as the best chase ever in a movie,” the statement said.
