Nepal International Trade Fair Kicks off

March 9: The 7th Nepal International Trade Fair kicked off at the Exhibition Hall in Brikutimandap, Kathmandu on Thursday, March 8. The fair organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries  (FNCCI) with support of the Government of Nepal showcased national as well as international products and services including handicrafts.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli inaugurated the fair in the presence of FNCCI's President Bhawani Rana, Sebior Vice President Shekhar Golchha, Finance Minister Yuwa Raj Khatiwada and other representatives of different national and international business organisations.

Speaking at the programme, PM Oli said that the government is creating suitable environment for employment and production at the national level. He said that the government is planning e-governance by maximum utilization of modern technology.

"No one will be dying of hunger in Nepal in the near future," he said. Since Nepal is heading towards economic prosperity after a period of transition and the successful completion of all levels of elections, there is very positive environment for industrial growth and expansion, said Oli.

"The government can strive for economic prosperity with the support from private sector,” he said urging all the private sectors to increase investment focusing on the quality of products.

"Neighboring countries are also positive to collaborate with us for investment. So, if we create favorable environment, there is suitable atmosphere for investment in Nepal," added Oli.

Similarly, Finance Minister Yuwa Raj Khatiwada stressed on increasing export of national products cautioning that the rate of import has increased by 14 folds as compared to export.

The event, promoted by the Trade and Export Promotion Center is participated by entrepreneurs from Nepal, India , China, Bangladesh and Pakistan . Lalitpur District Chambers of Commerce and Federation of Handicrafts Association of Nepal are the co-sponsors of the event.

This is the seventh edition of the annual trade fair with the theme of ‘Showcasing Nepal and the Globe’.

Handicraft products and Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS) products are the major attractions of the trade fair, informed the organisers.
