The five-day panel discussion was held on different issues regarding media and entrepreneurship, making ideas sustainable, need of policy for thriving ecosystem and investors’ criteria for investment.</p>
<p>“There are many people who want to invest in an idea or start a venture but many of them don’t have enough knowledge to materialise those ideas,” shared Merina Ranjit, executive director of Chaudhary Foundation. </p>
<p>“Bringing an entrepreneurship policy will help to make the ecosystem more organised and this will definitely help to create more entrepreneurs in the country,” she added.</p>
<p>Similarly, the discussion also stressed on giving priority to production sector including agriculture in the entrepreneurship. “As the production sector has a huge prospect for growth in Nepal, investment priorities should be made on this sector,” said Bhusan Shah, CEO of Nepal Agribusiness Innovation Centre.</p>
<p>Likewise, Niraj Khanal, CEO of Antarprerana, a business accelerator, shared that Nepal also needs many small investments rather than big investments. “Nepal lacks investors who can invest a huge amount. Therefore, we need to focus on small investors who can invest in innovative ideas,” he shared. </p>

Policy-Level Initiative Needed For Promotion of Entrepreneurship

November 27: Stakeholders and different players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Nepal have stressed on bringing entrepreneurial policy in Nepal.
“Raising the number of entrepreneurs in the country needs a policy to work in a systematic environment,” shared the concerned stakeholders in an event titled Spark Week 2017.
The event was organised by Nepal Entrepreneurs Hub from November 23-27. The five-day discussion programme disseminated the views of different players of the startup ecosystem such as entrepreneurs, investors, legal professionals and editors of different media houses . The five-day panel discussion was held on different issues regarding media and entrepreneurship, making ideas sustainable, need of policy for thriving ecosystem and investors’ criteria for investment.
“There are many people who want to invest in an idea or start a venture but many of them don’t have enough knowledge to materialise those ideas,” shared Merina Ranjit, executive director of Chaudhary Foundation.
“Bringing an entrepreneurship policy will help to make the ecosystem more organised and this will definitely help to create more entrepreneurs in the country,” she added.
Similarly, the discussion also stressed on giving priority to production sector including agriculture in the entrepreneurship. “As the production sector has a huge prospect for growth in Nepal, investment priorities should be made on this sector,” said Bhusan Shah, CEO of Nepal Agribusiness Innovation Centre.
Likewise, Niraj Khanal, CEO of Antarprerana, a business accelerator, shared that Nepal also needs many small investments rather than big investments. “Nepal lacks investors who can invest a huge amount. Therefore, we need to focus on small investors who can invest in innovative ideas,” he shared.
The programme concluded on Sunday, November 27 with detailed and interactive discussion on investment challenges in Nepal, rising entrepreneurial vibes among people and the need of policy for thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

<p>“There are many people who want to invest in an idea or start a venture but many of them don’t have enough knowledge to materialise those ideas,” shared Merina Ranjit, executive director of Chaudhary Foundation. </p>
<p>“Bringing an entrepreneurship policy will help to make the ecosystem more organised and this will definitely help to create more entrepreneurs in the country,” she added.</p>
<p>Similarly, the discussion also stressed on giving priority to production sector including agriculture in the entrepreneurship. “As the production sector has a huge prospect for growth in Nepal, investment priorities should be made on this sector,” said Bhusan Shah, CEO of Nepal Agribusiness Innovation Centre.</p>
<p>Likewise, Niraj Khanal, CEO of Antarprerana, a business accelerator, shared that Nepal also needs many small investments rather than big investments. “Nepal lacks investors who can invest a huge amount. Therefore, we need to focus on small investors who can invest in innovative ideas,” he shared. </p>
<p>The programme concluded on Sunday, November 27 with detailed and interactive discussion on investment challenges in Nepal, rising entrepreneurial vibes among people and the need of policy for thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.</p>
