<p>After the success, Nepal Electricity Authority CEO Kulma Ghising entered the tunnel through HT3 while Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Anup Kumar Upadhyay went in through HT4 and embraced each other in celebration and exchanged greetings.</p>
<p>Ghising, Upadhyay and other high ranking government officials had visited the Dolkha-based project for inspection on Sunday.</p>
<p>Secretary Upadhyay said that the breakthrough in the tunnel dug from both ends marked a great memorable day in the history of the project.</p>
<p>Almost 90 percent of the headworks and 99 percent of the underground tunnel works of the hydropower project have been completed, according to the project’s spokesperson Dr Ganesh Neupane.</p>
<p>Overall, 92 percent of the works have been completed, informed Neupane.</p>
<p>Initially, the cost of the project was estimated to be Rs 35.29 billion but that has increased to Rs 41.78 billion due to the increase in foreign exchange rate of dollar, rate of interest of the project, earthquake, blockade and various other reasons. </p>

<p>“There was a breakthrough in the most difficult section of the tunnel between HT3 and HT4, which was two meters long, on Sunday,” informed the project chief Bigyan Shrestha.</p>
<p>The construction of the main tunnel of the project had been affected since the last one-and-a-half years after the devastating earthquakes of 2015.</p>
<p>After the success, Nepal Electricity Authority CEO Kulma Ghising entered the tunnel through HT3 while Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Anup Kumar Upadhyay went in through HT4 and embraced each other in celebration and exchanged greetings.</p>
<p>Ghising, Upadhyay and other high ranking government officials had visited the Dolkha-based project for inspection on Sunday.</p>
<p>Secretary Upadhyay said that the breakthrough in the tunnel dug from both ends marked a great memorable day in the history of the project.</p>
<p>Almost 90 percent of the headworks and 99 percent of the underground tunnel works of the hydropower project have been completed, according to the project’s spokesperson Dr Ganesh Neupane.</p>
<p>Overall, 92 percent of the works have been completed, informed Neupane.</p>
<p>Initially, the cost of the project was estimated to be Rs 35.29 billion but that has increased to Rs 41.78 billion due to the increase in foreign exchange rate of dollar, rate of interest of the project, earthquake, blockade and various other reasons. </p>
