'content' => '<p>July 4: The sales of air conditioners (AC) have increased with the rise in temperature. Easy access and slashing prices are the other factors that have made ACs affordable even for the middle-class people, unlike in the past when it used to be bought only by the elites. ACs, which used to be available mostly in the Kathmandu Valley a few years ago, are now available is most of the places where there is electricity, according to the dealers of ACs.</p>
<p>More than a dozen national and international brands of ACs are available in the Nepali market. Himalayan Refrigeration and Electrical Industries, CG Electronics and Hilltake have been producing local brands of ACs. However, all of these local ACs are generally manufactured in China and assembled in Nepal. The price of ACs differ according to the brand, size and capacity. The minimum price of AC available in the local market is Rs 30,000.</p>
<p>The increase in number of integrated settlements, corporate offices, financial institutions and big industries in the recent years has also significantly increased the sales of ACs, according to the dealers.</p>
<p>The demand for ACs has increased by 40 percent at present. Unlike fans and heaters which serve only one purpose, ACs function both ways - give warmth during cold days and making the environment cool during hot days. Since the ACs can be used in both cold and hot seasons, it is in high demand throughout the year. However, the distributors of ACs say that comparatively there is more sale in summer than in winter.</p>
<p>Panasonic, LG, Haier, Samsung, Whirlpool, Fuji are some of the popular international brands available in the local markets of Nepal. Of late, even non-branded ACs have gained market. Such ACs are generally made for household use.</p>
