'content' => '<p>June 28: The online edition of the British economic magazine ‘The Economist’ on June 24 has mentioned two achievements of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – demonetization, and Goods and Service Tax (GST).</p>
<p>The paper has analysed that the GST, which will be implemented from July 1, is comparable to the achievement that India made from demonetization. The direct effect of demonetization was felt in countries like Nepal and Bhutan that transact in Indian currency. They are now busy analyzing the possible effects of the GST.</p>
<p>Earlier, different taxes imposed by the central and state governments of India had made the price of imported goods from India very high.</p>
<p>With the implementation of the GST, there will be uniform rate in all products. It has also been analysed that the current effect of the GST will be positive. However, there is a negative side of the GST as well, and the first effect of it will be seen in the import of goods to Nepal.</p>
<p>The GST will increase the transportation tax rate by three percent. Due to this, the transportation fare will rise by three percent, say industrialists and traders.</p>
<p>Transportation tax which was 15 percent earlier has reached 18 percent. This is the reason for the increase in transportation fares while importing goods to Nepal.</p>
<p>Likewise, the Nepali import transactions are done in Indian currency. The GST will not accept that kind of transaction as export and only those in USD is considered as export.</p>
<p>Therefore, Nepal will not receive the GST facilities that other countries dealing in USD get.</p>
<p>According to Pashupati Murarka, former president of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), the huge informal trade with India will now come through formal channel.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Rabi Shankar Sainju, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) said they have written to the Indian government requesting waiver on service tax to give relief to the importers. “We are waiting for the reply,” he said.</p>

June 28: The online edition of the British economic magazine ‘The Economist’ on June 24 has mentioned two achievements of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – demonetization, and Goods and Service Tax (GST).
The paper has analysed that the GST, which will be implemented from July 1, is comparable to the achievement that India made from demonetization. The direct effect of demonetization was felt in countries like Nepal and Bhutan that transact in Indian currency. They are now busy analyzing the possible effects of the GST.
Earlier, different taxes imposed by the central and state governments of India had made the price of imported goods from India very high.
With the implementation of the GST, there will be uniform rate in all products. It has also been analysed that the current effect of the GST will be positive. However, there is a negative side of the GST as well, and the first effect of it will be seen in the import of goods to Nepal.
The GST will increase the transportation tax rate by three percent. Due to this, the transportation fare will rise by three percent, say industrialists and traders.
Transportation tax which was 15 percent earlier has reached 18 percent. This is the reason for the increase in transportation fares while importing goods to Nepal.
Likewise, the Nepali import transactions are done in Indian currency. The GST will not accept that kind of transaction as export and only those in USD is considered as export.
Therefore, Nepal will not receive the GST facilities that other countries dealing in USD get.
According to Pashupati Murarka, former president of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), the huge informal trade with India will now come through formal channel.
Meanwhile, Rabi Shankar Sainju, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) said they have written to the Indian government requesting waiver on service tax to give relief to the importers. “We are waiting for the reply,” he said.
