April 21: The 13th International Trade Fair and Innovation Expo has kicked off on April 20 at Exhibition Hall of Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Organised by Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI), the expo was inaugurated by Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara. According to the organizer, the 5-day expo is being organized with a slogan “Let’s use Nepali products, Lets be proud of being Nepalis.’

Inaugurating the event, Finance Minister Mahara said, “In order to expand export oriented market, import should be substituted.” He opined that the substitution of import is the major challenge for all.  

“The expo aims to promote domestic and cottage industries’ products in the international market. This kind of expo is helpful to expand the domestic and cottage industries which are in struggling phase right now,” said Shyam Prasad Giri, President of FNCSI.

The organizer expects to carry out transaction worth Rs 60 million and 100,000 visitors throughout the expo. The expo has 215 stalls where 57 stalls display scientific research and modern technologies. Similarly, Central Women Entrepreneurs Pavilion will have 25 stalls in the expo and 10 foreign stalls from India, Pakistan, China and Bangladesh. Moreover, Forest and Agriculture program and President Women Progressive Program will have 10 and 30 stalls respectively in the expo.
