March 14: Nepal Telecommunication (NT) has concluded its 9th annual general meeting on March 13. The AGM approved a proposal of distributing 51 per cent cash dividend of the approved paid-up capital from the profit earned in the FY 2072/73.

The company will distribute the cash dividend to its shareholders from March 14. In the meeting, Mahendra Man Gurung, Chairman of board of directors (BOD) and Secretary of Information and Communication Ministry said that the company has made significant contribution to the overall development and expansion of telecommunication sector in Nepal. “Not only it has been able to expand its services to exciting number of customers but also been able to earn good profit,” he said adding, “The company is committed to achieve its target of achieving professional target and strengthening its market share through superior services and easy accessibility of services.”

Saying that the gone year was exciting in terms of expansion of services, operation and financially, he informed that the company increased its revenue by 3.36 per cent to rest its net profit at Rs 13.68 billion. On the occasion, it was also informed that the company customer base also grew by 15.35 per cent compare to the previous FY.

Gurung said that the preparation of purchase work-plan draft including tender and purchase agreement as per the amended Public Procurement Act is in final stage. He opined that the company is expanding its services to diverse locations exceeding profitable areas. “NT is continuously investing in rural and remote locations of the country despite of heavy investment,” he added.

According to him, NT will soon conclude the issue of foreign strategic partner. The meeting appointed Subodh Kumar Karna as auditor of the NT under the recommendation of Auditors’ Committee and suggestion of Office of the Auditor General.
