January 13: Huawei Mate9, the latest flagship smartphone from the Chinese handset manufacturer Huawei, has broken the Guinness World Record for capturing 160 high definition selfies. Issuing a press statement, Huawei Technologies Nepal informed that the new world record of taking selfies on was set on January 11 in three minutes at the Palace Downtown Dubai, United Arab Emirates with the iconic Burj Khalifa as a back drop. “Different people clicked one picture in one second leaving behind the previous record breaker,” reads the statement. As per Guinness world record guidelines, the image was a selfie taken by an individual using a smartphone or digital camera and was captured in exactly 180 seconds. Huawei broke the previous record of 122 selfies held by Donnie Wahlberg and his fans on 2016 October that was set on the block cruise in the Gulf of Mexico. The Mate9 captured additional 38 selfies than the previous record breaker, according to the statement.

“The latest flagship device, Huawei mate 9 was selected to achieve the target to break the world record with its 8-mega pixel front camera,” says the company. According to the company, the world record was also possible because of Mate 9 camera feature of natural looking skin beautification algorithms developed by Huawei Aesthetics center in France.

Launched internationally in November 2016, Mate 9 is also equipped with user-friendly auto focus and smile capture. As per the company, Mate 9 uses an impressive second-generation dual lens camera with 12-megapixel RGB sensor and 20-megapixel monochrome sensor which makes the phone perfect for the best photography results.

This is the second big triumph for Huawei after receiving eight accolades at CES, 2017 which was held in Las Vegas, USA on January 5-8.
