January 9: Nepal Telecom (NT) has started Multi Service Access Gateway (MSAG) service at Chinedanda of Pokhara.

Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki inaugurated the new service amid a programme on January 8.

Speaking at the programme, Minister Karki said that the government is committed to help NT to make Pokhara a ‘Smart City’.

On the occasion, Chairman of the Development Committee of Parliament and CPN-UML leader Rabindra Adhikari thanked NT for its work to provide telephone service in the area.

Moreover, he said that the company should help concerned authorities to make Pokhara as free Wi-Fi zone.

Meanwhile, Kamini Rajbhandari, Managing Director at the NT, said that the NT being a business entity also bears social responsibilities and helps to uplift the country’s economy.

On the inaugural event, she informed that NT has already distributed SIM cards with talk value of Rs 50 for free to the locals of the area.

Informing about the newly installed service, Naresh Kaji Shakya, Chief at the NT in Pokhara said that the MSAG has the capacity to hold 736 lines and will be increased as per the demand.

According to him, subscribers can take telephone, internet and fax services from the MSAG at present.

The company said that it will provide the facilities of television and multimedia in the upcoming days.
