May 30: Government is planning to celebrate upcoming decade as decade of high economic growth. “The budget is required to be large as the high economic growth of coming FY 2073/74 is the entry point for the upcoming decade of high economic growth after construction of constitution,” said Bishnu Poudel, Finance Minister. He added “We have brought budget in a bid to achieve high economic growth and prosperity.” Apparently, economic growth of Nepal has rested at 0.77 percent in the current FY.

In a press conference, organised at Finance Ministry on Sunday, he said that sufficient budget has been allocated in capital formation program. He opined that the budget has been brought on the foundation of financial discipline in order to promote the nation to medium level income generating nation by 2030. He claimed that the budget has allocated 50.4 percent of total budget including capital grant and investment in productive and capital formation projects.

Similarly, the government has allocated Rs 300.95 billion for capital expenditure of upcoming FY. “Unproductive expenditure has been reduced. The budget has kept high expectation. If we select prosperity then high expectation should be kept,” he added. He said that the budget has brought programs which will support in construction of prosperous Nepal. He stated “The budget is trying to decentralise authority and sources of Singha Durbar to rural villages. That’s why we have doubled the budget for village development.”
