Additional 100MW in Next 7 Years

Hydro Power Project in Dolakha

April 18: Additional 100MW hydro electricity will be generated from small and medium size projects in Dolakha in the next seven years. According to the Department of Electricity Development (DOED), 100 MW electricity will be generated from 15 small and medium sized hydropower projects in the district in the next seven years. Earlier, 75MW electricity generated from 5 hydropower projects had already been connected to the national transmission grid. Besides Upper Tamakoshi Hydro Power Project, seven hydle projects are under construction in Dolakha which will generate 565MW of electricity. 

DOED has already issued survey license to generate 100.6MW electricity from 15 projects. As per the DOED, the smallest project of the district to obtain survey license is 140KW Yalung Khola Project in Mali while the largest project is the 62MW Jum Khola Hydro Electricity Project near Chinese border in Lamabagar VDC.  

DOED has informed that survey licenses have been issued to small hydro power projects such as 993KW Gopi Khola Project of Gopi Vinayak Hydro Power Project in border area of Namdu and Veerkot VDC, 140KW Yalung Khola Project of Hemraj Gubhaju in Mali, 635KW Jhakre Khola Project of Himal Power Limited, 1 MW Gumu Khola Project of Saskan Pvt Ltd and 1 MW Ghyang Khola Project of Neel Ganga Hydro Power. Meanwhile, 1 MW Upper Khimti Khola of Global Hydro Power Associated, 800 KW Andheri Khola Project of Deepak Kumar Budhathoki, 600KW Open River Turbine of Tamakoshi in Bhedup Region of Glow Tek Solution and 1 MW Marbu Ghatte Khola Project of Poverty Alleviation Electricity Generating Company have also obtained the survey licenses.

Similarly, medium hydle projects obtaining survey license are 9 MW Lower Khani Khola Project of Engine Consultancy in Marbu VDC, 7 MW Suri Khola Project of Makar Jitumaya Hydropower in Chankhu and Suri VDC, 6.4 MW Lower Charnawati Khola Project of Nepal Hydro Developer and 4.35MW Pegu Khola Project of Sabitri Shrestha in Bigu VDC. Likewise, survey liscenses for 4.74MW Sanghu Khola Project of Sanjay Shrestha in Aalampu and Bigu VDC and in big hydro power projects, 62 MW Jum Khola Project of Sanima Hydropower in Lama Bagar VDC in Chinese Border Area have also been issued.
