KATHMANDU, August 6: Heavy rainfall across Nepal since Monday night has led to disruption of flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Poor visibility caused by the relentless downpour has affected both domestic and international flights.
Jagannath Niraula, General Manager at TIA, reported that a Turkish Airlines flight was rerouted to Lucknow, India, and an Air India flight was diverted to Benaras on Tuesday morning. Domestic flights have also faced delays due to the adverse weather conditions.
TIA has indicated that flights will resume as visibility improves. However, the Meteorological Forecasting Division warns of continued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on Tuesday as well as on Wednesday, with particular risk in Koshi Province, Madhes Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Sudurpaschim Province. -- RSS
