Karki, Gurung Appointed to NEA Board Members 

August 5:  Devendra Karki and Mahendra Bahadur Gurung have been appointed to the board of directors of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Karki, from Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-2 in Dolakha, and Gurung, from Rumjatar Rural Municipality-7 in Okhaldhunga, were appointed as members of the board of directors by a ministerial-level decision of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation.

Earlier, the government had sacked Bhakta Bahadur Pun and Kapil Acharya from the board of the authority. According to the ministry, Karki and Gurung were appointed as board members in accordance with Nepal Electricity Authority Act, 2041.

Karki was appointed as an expert in the electricity sector from the non-governmental sector, while Gurung was selected from among the electricity consumers.

In line with the decision of the Energy Minister, Karki and Gurung have been appointed as board members for a term of four years on August 2.

The newly appointed Karki is a former secretary of the Ministry of Energy, and Gurung is a former Director General of the Department of Electricity Development.
